Classic or Modern NOT BOTH

If you look at this post, http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...0-2-weeks.html you will see a bit of a debate about using the quote feature. When you read this thread in the Classic version it is very difficult to know who the OP is addressing in his posts. That is why many are arguing that he should be using the quote feature. He is insisting that he not use it as it is not needed.

So, I switched over to the "Modern" (which is not modern at all but harkens back to old style bulletin boards, but that is aother discussion) and it turns out that both are correct in their arguements. The OP is clicking to reply to individual posts and it shows correctly in the modern. Also, those using the quote feature in the classic view have the benefit of the quote showing in the modern view. Whereas, a reply to a post in the modern view does not transfer to the classic view.

The mods, in another thread about this have stated that the modern version is better for being viewed on mobile devices. So why not default to the classic on the site and if someone accesses this from a mobile device then they default to modern.

I have noticed the confusing responses in many threads in which the OP is posting many responses that you can not figure out who they are referring to. Even mods have told them to use the quote feature not realizing they are probably in the modern forum responding correctly.

While the classic reads correctly in the modern version, the modern version does not transfer well at all to the classic.

We're aware of this problem (it's happened to us too) and it's fairly high priority to sort out. I think that the solution will be as simple as adding a quote to the top of modern threaded replies on classic view, so it's clear what they're in reply to, but we're also discussing other options.

You could always simply denote replies with an automated single line that references the individual prior post's permalink, as shown.... Oh, wait; those have been removed from the feed view, as well.

          I saw that. Thank you!

With all due respect, though, IMHO, the language used, ("View Parent Reply"), is rather awkward. "Parent" is correct and well understood among computer techie folks, but not among the general public, and "Reply" just isn't right. May I respectfully suggest that you please use the verbiage I'd proposed earlier, including the use of italics, reduced font size, brackets, and linking just the words shown:

That's also on a list of things that we want to fix with the modern view, and that is actually still one of the options if we just show that for classic.
