Making it easy to contact Moderators.

Some posts need a quick removal on the forum or need to be moved from the sections they do not belong in. Why is it not easy, to find a moderator, online that can act on the situation ? Below is a post that is over 19 hours old. It is still posted in this section and was reported about 2 hours ago. http://www.warriorforum.com/suggesti...utm_term=title . While this belongs in the off topic forum. It is posted here in the suggestion forum.

Can you make it easier to contact the current online moderators ?
At least a list of moderators posted some where would make it easier ?

If there were a contact list of mods, they would be driven mad by people contacting them...that's my guess.

That particular thread is gone and I've noticed recently there's been faster response when reporting posts/threads.

What I've also noticed is some moderators are very quick to react - and others not so much. Some will take time to explain - and others might not answer a question at all.

I wonder if sometimes - as in the case you mention above - there's a delay to decide whether to move a thread or delete a thread. Also I've noticed weekends seem to have a few 'bare spots' in modding at times.

That ^ is exactly right, and...

When a thread is reported it goes into a queue where multiple moderators can see and act on it. Contacting individual mods wouldn't be as efficient. They could be on their days off, or vacation, or even just in between shifts. It could be several hours or several days before they'd see it...or even weeks, considering there could be dozens or hundreds of messages waiting for them.

It's usually going to be faster if multiple mods have a chance at it. That doesn't mean a mod response can't take a long time. Sometimes the unaddressed report queue can be several pages deep.

Also, some issues take much longer to deal with than others. If there are two or three tricky or involved issues in a row you can have the mods on duty tied up for a good while.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

It wouldn't matter anyway. My experience is mods ignore direct pm's anyway, including responses to pm's they've sent you.

I think, too, and I may be wrong ...but... it seems like mods may need to check with admins before taking action on some issues. Maybe to see how far they should go or whatever.

There's probably 1-2 issues a day that we discuss in more detail, but most of those are from support tickets rather than actual forum posts.

I agree with Dennis on making the mods more contactable, I don't think it'd make anything get removed quicker.

We're looking into other ways to improve moderation though.
