I don't see any point reporting spam

If I remember correctly Warrior Forum recently started charging $10 to become a forum member, which obviously cut down on spam.

I just now checked the registration page & don't see a $10 charge for becoming a forum member.

This forum is getting hit with spam like crazy & I've been steady reporting that spam. As long as the forum allows anyone with a free account to post spam/links, I don't see any reason to continue reporting spam.

I defiantly don't mind helping rid the forum of spammers, but the forum is currently setup to allow spammers to create as many accounts as they like, which is counterproductive. Even a $1 forum membership cost would thin out the automated spam accounts.

No offense but it doesn't look like the current forum setup even cares about spam.

I reported so much spam my account here accidentally got banned, the WSO section is getting hit HARD and it's all drug ads and air jordan ads, my WSO got hit hard to and was deleted! They bumped it for me but still that's how crazy it is.

Feels like another 'wave' of spam has come crashing upon the forums today or this evening... After reporting post after post, I decided to search to see if this was a personal perception issue or if there was in fact additional spam... And it looks like we aren't the only ones noticing it.

2 more votes for reinstating a fee for access to the forums... Gotta keep the spam out or the quality posters and people wanting to contribute will simply focus on other forums that have less spam

First! I'am just searching for a reason why they took down the paid membership. I mean it was going very well when it was paid as warrior forum does not need people but people does.

A +1 for getting the forum back to the paid membership.

Yeah, the paid membership seemed like a no-brainer for the WF... less spam, and more $ for the forum owner.

There must be a reason why the WF switched back to free memberships... I just can't image what that reason would be though.

They must not have liked the decrease in activity. This 'increase' however, is counter productive.

It doesn't matter if membership is free or not, there are STILL moderators here, and all the WF members here are moderators as well, if you see spam just report it. Not much else you can do. It seems that since they made a free membership available, some new interesting people have jumped on board and have been engaging in normal forum behavior. The other ones that just created an account to spam barley last a few days on here. The head honchos here (and you know who they are) don't just sit back and watch it happen, they are actively banning spammers and deleting those posts. There IS a point of reporting spam, because it helps the moderators see the spam quicker. While I am sure they look through the forum for it, bringing it to their attention is the best way to get rid of it.

IMO, If the registration fee was simply $1, that would be enough to stop most automated spammers & still allow new legit members to get into the forum.

I completely agree. I suspect that in terms of spam-free outcomes, the difference between $0 and $1 is probably very big, compared with the small difference between $1 and $10.

But there may also be a lot of factors other than "spam-free outcomes" involved, here.

I agree with yukon...they should charge a small fee (50 cents or a dollar) and this will stop spammers (and a lot of scammers).

You guys are totally right. Even a single cent would reduce it

I agree. Because most spammers aren't going to take the time to register a Paypal account, then transfer money from their bank account into it (even 1 cent), then sign up for a new account with the WF, then make the payment to the WF, just so they can sneak in 1 or 2 spam posts before they get banned.

And for the ones that are dumb enough to go to all that trouble for such a tiny "reward", their Paypal account could be easily blacklisted by the WF, so that they wouldn't be able to do it again.

But seriously... anyone who balked at the $10 sign up fee simply didn't realize the sheer amount of value that this forum provides (and yes, I know that $10 is more like $30, $40, or even $50 in some countries, but still, that's nothing compared to the opportunities that this forum offers).

Heck, if the WF went back to "paid" status tomorrow at $1,000 per member, I would gladly pay it. It's worth many, many, many times that... just for the networking opportunities alone.
