Automatically notify person A when person B has quoted person A.

It's often hard to find the threads you've replied in on this forum since you have to dig and dig in the thread-jungle to find it (you can of course bookmark it, but in the end you'll have a whole jungle of bookmarks too) and many times you simply forget about it and don't get notified if someone quote you (maybe with an important question?).

Therefore, I would suggest a feature where you get notified by, for example a message to your inbox with a link to the quote or something when some other user has quoted you in the forum to make the discussion more efficient.

Edit: I just figured out there's a subscription option in the control panel where you can subscribe to threads. Does this work in the same way as the stuff I just suggested?

you should have subscribed threads that tell you when somebody has written in one of your threads. Isn't that enough?

I'm not sure if it is the default or not, but the subscribed threads area should keep a link to every thread you have contributed to and/or subscribed to.

You can also set it to email you every time one of those threads is updated, but if you do that it will only affect threads you contribute to going forward from that point. All of the threads from the past will have to be set to email you manually, if you want to be notified.

I am not aware of any service to email you only when you have been quoted...

taskemann has proposed is a nice suggestion. There are many sites which have implemented this feature and works very well for users. Quora is one of them.
