$5 Wordpress Membership Site Software (I think I've lost my mind!)

Sometimes I think I've just gone right of the deep end and into the drink.

$5 for Wordpress membership site software? Yep, I'm crazy.

Here's what I mean:

• aMember - $199 for 1 domain
• Memberwing - $99 for 1 domain
• Your Members - $50 for 1 domain
• WP-Member - $44 for 1 domain

My EasyPayPal Hack?

Just$5 for as many domains as you want!

So, why am I offering this so cheap?

1. It's a WSO
That's what you're supposed to do here - right?

2. There are a couple of minor enhancements I still have to make
These enhancements are minor and I wouldn't even bother with them for running my site. But, since I'm offering this to the public, they should be included for a "shrink-wrap" ready product.

3. "CHEAP" is why I wrote the software
My offering to the public will probably be only $27 ($37 tops) 'cause "cheap" is the whole reason I wrote this software in the first place.

When I looked for software for my membership site I decided to use Wordpress. I've been spoiled by this product for years now. It's cheap (FREE), easy, and it's good.

I also used a Wordpress theme and a number of Wordpress plugins to augment my site... ALL cheap (FREE), easy, and good.

Then I looked for a plugin that would let me send my subscribers to my PayPal account to pay for subscriptions. And, what did I find? Easy, good... but not cheap! I found the "fancy" and relatively expensive offerings above and almost sprang for the $50 Your Members but I got scared off by the single domain license.

So, I did some more scouting around and found a really nice, freebie gem...EasyPayPal. It's cheap (FREE), easy, and good, but it didn't quite do everything I needed.

Here's what EasyPayPal did do:

• Subscription payments - users must pay for a subscription as soon as they register
• Hide content from un-registered users

Both of which I really wanted but, unfortunately I needed a little more. So, here's what I added:

• Multiple levels of registered users - My hack uses Free, Paid, and Premium. The Free registration is a key part of the business model for my site. (I'll spare you the details.)
• Integration into PayPal's subscription service - EasyPayPal checks each time a user signs on. If their subscription has expired, it sends them to PayPal for another payment. My hack uses PayPal's subscription service so PayPal bills my subscribers automatically on a predetermined schedule
• Calendar intervals - EasyPayPal describes a subscription using a specified "number of days". My hack lets you describe subscriptions the way most people are familiar (and comfortable) with - in calendar intervals like 2 weeks, 1 month, etc.

And, since I expect some of the people who buy my EasyPayPal Hack won't be overly technical, I also added:

• An automatic setup process for the database table that logs PayPal payments (I added the logging too!)
• A nice little popup window that creates the code for your PayPal "Buy Now" and "Subscribe" buttons automatically. You'll never have to worry about typos or getting cryptic syntax right.

But the bottom line is you'll get a nifty little plugin that'll let you turn your WordPress website in to a membership site supports hidden text, "pay for content", and automatic subscription payments to your PayPal account...

For just $5 bucks!

What's that?

You don't have a membership site yet? Well, you probably will. I'll bet about half the people (Ok... excluding eBay sellers) who are making steady, easy, "while you sleep" money on the internet have a membership site of some kind. If you don't have one now you probably will have one in the near future, so why not just...

for when you need it.

P.S. - I'm still working on a few "enhancements" for my own site. There are also some things that need to be added to make this a shrink-wrap ready product. These include:

• a User's Guide - It'll only be a few pages but it's needed and it's coming
• handling "upgrade" subscriptions - from Paid to Premium. I'm still figuring this one out
• full support for PayPal subscriptions - including "trial periods" and a fixed number of payment periods. Again, this isn't really necessary for most membership sites but I just think it'll be COOL!
• branding - right now nearly everything says "EasyPayPal". That's ok from a licensing standpoint (I checked) but I need to change it for the "final" product

When these enhancements are completed (and fully tested) you'll get the updated software for free! (I use e-junkie which makes sending out updates a no-brainer.)
