Feeling dumb??/

Just trying to get my bearings ... Have my own forum so go figure wht this looks strange ...

That suggests that you haven't used enough different forums. They are all different, after you have used enough forums it should only take a few minutes before a new layout starts to look comfortable. Of course it will take much longer to learn to use all the features of different software.
