I heard alot of good things about WP. Im currently using Blogspot, since im new to this but one thing i dont like about the blogspot is when creating new post it is always going to be the main page... am i doing it wrong or there is a way to tweak this? Or WP would be a good alternative |

Well it is better if you have a self-hosted wordpress because you can customize it the way you like. But if you have a dot wordpress extension there is limited tweak also. So it is better to have your own domain name and webhost. But for starter I recommend blogger or blogspot much easier to tweak.

Even if you have dot wordpress there are more features and I think Wordpress is the best platform to learn. There are many "free blogs" that are based on Wordpress so its really good to learn it.

Not a big fan of Blogger or non self-hosted Wordpress. They have their application, but it's limited in my humble opinion.

I think WP is hard for beginner. It didn't support html or script code. Although that, it has a good SEO and really fast to be indexed by gooooogle etc."code is poetry" blogspot is good for beginner and easy to use. It also supports html. For SEO., I think it's harder than WP.. CMIIW |

Anyone who thinks Blogger is better than WP obviously does not know what he/she is talking about. There are so many limitations and problems with the Blogger system that WP does not have and far surpasses.

WordPress really isn't hard to learn or setup if you have the right information. It's def better than Blogger IMHO.

The very question "Blogspot or Wordpress" is a mis-matched one: it doesn't compare like with like. Blogspot is a free hosting place (like wordpress.com). Blogger is the name of a type of software (like "Wordpress"), which can (just like Wordpress) be hosted on a free site provided by the manufacturer and subject to stringent terms of service. Alternatively, of course, blogs made with either Wordpress or Blogger software can be independently self-hosted instead. Quote:
Here's a self-hosted Blogger blog and here's another one (those two are not mine!). Look good, don't they? Every time you start off a new blog, in Blogger, it asks you whether you want to use their free hosting (at Blogspot) or have it self-hosted on your own server-space elsewhere. ![]() I'm always happy to debate which one's "better", myself, and do so with the objectivity of someone who uses neither but has found a "third way" far better than either (in my opinion).

What a definition Alexa... thank you. I'm still inclined to WordPress... It's where my business thrives. All my blogs are currently being rebuffed as highly suggested by my team of designers. However, I love your blogs though... good job. Hi AragornStrider, I'm also from the Philippines... 100% Pinoy and 50% Canadian - which makes me 150% human. Blogger is a good place to start, specially if you want to go for the magic word FREE! WordPress, when hosted in their servers has limitations. Let me know how I can help you - I'm just 2 clicks away from the "USER CP"

Well, let me see... I personally prefer Wordpress (not the .com Wordpress). Simply because you own your own WP Blog. Whereas with Blogspot, it is owned by someone other than yourself... I know from personal experience, you want to own your own virtual real estate. That way no one can come along and changed their TOS that will trash all of your hard work and income potential! Believe me, it happened to me! ![]() I definitely learned my lesson and I will NEVER put hard work into something I do not own again! |

Wordpress every time over blogger. Just take the thousands of free themes alone not to mention all the plugins you can get free or paid that can do everything from look tag clouds to full shopping carts. Not to mention it's not controlled by Google, like everything else these days!

| I like Wordpress more than Blogger. I have both kinds of blogs. Wordpress has more options and many more possibilities. There are more templates on Wordpress to choose from than on Blogger and they look better. Also I don't like to have to use blogspot.com in my web address. It just doesn't look good. With Wordpress you can use your domain name as part of the web address and there is no mention of Wordpress in that link. I like the many alternatives you get with Wordpress as compared to Blogger. For me it's Wordpress and there is no contest. |

Wordpress is by far the best blogging platform. There is so much more you can do with Wordpress than any other blogging platform. Just be sure to go with a self-hosted wordpress blog and not the wordpress.com platform..you are limited to what you can do with wordpress hosting your blog.

To me Wordpress is the best as they allow you to do your things simply and professionally.Though Blogger is good but I believe it as too porous and one-sided. Wordpress is more serious and business-like. Success. Azuka |

Most people don't know all the things you can do with Blogger so put it down as a beginner's toy. There are many, many things you can do with Blogger. It is much, much faster to make changes on Blogger blogs. F'rinstance, you can tweak dozens of sites in almost no time, something that is harder to do on WP because you gotta do all that wp-admin log-in stuff. There are thousands of free templates for Blogger that are copies of WP templates. Etc etc etc I was a big Blogger booster UNTIL a month ago. Out of the blue Blogger shut down ALL my websites and sent an email accusing me of spamming. Needless to say, I never spammed. It took me quite a bit of research to find the proper procedure to restore my websites. In the course of the research I discovered that Blogger/Google KNOWS that most of the sites they shut down unceremoniously are not guilty of spamming. They know that professional spammers take over some sites and cause problems. But that doesn't stop Blogger from accusing people of spamming. In about 4 days I got all my blogs (but my big $$$ blog) back up and running. No apology. No explanation. Just my hard work going through the steps to restore. The lesson I learned is that it is better to own your own than depend on Blogger. I really prefer many Blogger features but will never again make the mistake of depending on them. |

Wordpress is easy to learn and simple to use. There are some amazing free templates out there. You should take a look at some WOO themes. WooThemes|Premium WordPress Themes The best I have seen to date. Get a friend or pay someone to show you how to self host a wordpress site. The plugins keep getting better and better. Go with wordpress |

I started out using blogspot, and spent a lot of time customizing my own templates although I never felt comfortable creating a template from scratch. Blogger turned out to be a good playground for me to learn CSS & HTML, and blogging technology in general. Later, I felt like I needed to learn wordpress so I installed it on a couple of domains. I learned a lot by experimenting with ready-made templates, and with plugins. I even got an autoblog up and running. But I never felt comfortable enough to customize a template on my own. It seemed harder, or else maybe I was just finding less how-to info on the web. If I was starting a new site today, I would use wordpress or else custom html. I feel like there are more plugins available related to seo, advertising, and analytics. And I think that whatever the future brings, there will always be developers creating new plugins to support the Latest New Thing. I still throw up blogger blogs though, quick and dirty. I use them to create a quick backlink whenever I place a new article on my site, so that it gets indexed quickly by google. I have found that of all the ways I use to get a new page indexed, a backlink from a post on a google blogger blog is the fastest. |

WordPress is an open source blog publishing application powered by PHP and MySQL which can also be used for content management. It has many features including a workflow, a plugin architecture and a templating system. Used by over 2% of the 10,000 biggest websites, WordPress is the most popular blog software in use today. so i always prefer wordpress. |

As another poster asked - why is this thread in the test forum ![]() To the best of my knowledge, if you use the Google-owned blogger.com , or WorPress.com, you risk losing your site because they both dislike commercially-based content. Therefore, for we who are in the money-making niche, a self-hosted WP wins every time. Not to mention its versatility of course hth |
