Help me convert 1k visitors, you/charity keep first months revenue
Share on:

Hi,
I'm fairly new to IM, and have read and followed X-factor's and Clickbump's courses to this point, but seem to have lost my focus.

I'm getting traffic suddenly of around 1k uniques per month, but have only received 2 or 3 Adsense clicks.

If you can show/coach me to actually convert (and preferably increase) the traffic, I will give you/ or verifyable donate to a charity of your choice, the first month of Adsense revenue we can produce from this quick and small JV. Kind of payment for performance, if you know what I mean.

I have so far managed to get 3 terms on google first page and 3 on second page, with a combined traffic estimate searches in brackets of 110k/month from google.

The Adsense $/click aren't that high as this site is the first one I registered and my Niche research was poor. I just want to be able to get some revenue recorded so that I can sell/flip it and progress to my other, more promising sites. I realise now what I was doing poorly on Niche/keyword research.

I am using Clickbump Templates, and ABC Plugin too, if that's a help.

I can't PM yet as not enough posts

e-mail is banlex@btinternet.com

site is www.lifestyle48.com

TIA

Hi Eric,

I do not want to coach you but from a quick glance:

1) Your theme is messy, and thus the looks of your site.
2) The main adsense block is below the upper page half, people have to scroll to click your ads.
3) To much google adsense blocks, this lowers the price per click you get.
4) domain name is not keyword targetted

My advice:
1) Take an other cbump theme or free theme with the sidebar menu on right site.
2) make the images smaller, take out the upper adsense block, see if you can make the upper menubar 1 line instead of 2.
3) see 2, take out the upper adsense block.
4) just take your bad luck, better it next time.

Hope this helps.

Many Thanks for the reply femkeshe,

I didn't even notice the majority of points you gave me. I suppose it's like proof reading your own reports, you don't see the mistakes.

I have implemented what you recommended, thanks.

Do you think I should remove the link unit too?

Looks much better now. People like to see things the way they are used to, so they don't have to think about the layout. I would leave the links there. People are used to that.

Some minor layout things:
I think I remember that in the original x factor method the clickthrough was tested better with the adsense block on the left side of the text instead of the right side.
But you can test it yourself if you prefer that. I wouldn't though as you are going to sell the site.

You could make the sidebar a bit less wide, perhaps by "The" and "wordpress" out of:
"The Automatic Backlink Creator Wordpress Plugin"

A nice trick is to see which of your pages has the highest adsense clicktrhough till now and then make your images a link to that page. people tent to click a lot on images so often it gets my earnings up.

Also to prevent a google ban I create some ads to other advertisers. Some people say this is BS and you don't have to, but as I did have some trouble with a site ban I would advice so. And it is an easy 2 minute work: I put the amazon carousel bar in the sidebar. On your site below the "ads by google" block.

Change your meta Desc. "Blog for lifestyle 48 Owners, Users, Newbies and Wannabies" to: lifestyle 48 Surround Sound Systems or to lifestyle 48 + one of your target keywords

That is it for now. The rest is maintenance (slow growing) and off site seo.

But hey, even if you make the greatest site it is still not quaranteed to earn you money.
Cheers.
