I'm writing a book for Entrepreneurs and need an opinion

Hey Guys,

I've been an online entrepreneur for over 13 years and have made millions on the web. In the last couple of months, I've sold off most of my web sites and now I am on my way to reinventing myself as a personal development warrior for Entrepreneurs and new aspiring people who wish to become one as well.

So far, I've worked really hard on my book outline - believe me it is not easy! The PDF link below took me weeks to compile simply because I wanted to make sure that I had the correct framework before I began the arduous journey to write. Much like the foundation of a house is most important before the bricks, I wanted to make sure my framework was done.

Please click the link. Since all of your are IM/Entrepreneurs here, it would be great to get your feedback. If after checking this PDF out and it doesn't say "WOW" to you, then I am back to the drawing board.

Regardless if it is a WOW product or not, please let me know and how I can improve it. Thank you in advance!

I think it looks good - both graphically and content wise.

quite amazing. It took some time to lay this out, not only the graphics, but the thought process. It looks as tho the outline for your book is in place. I give you a lot of credit.

wow, looks like a very comprehensive guide. Took a look at your mindmap and it seems you definately have the core framework in place. Let me know when you finish your book would make for a nice read.

It looks ok, but maybe a bit too focussed on mindset.

Thank you everyone for your input. I appreciate it.

Troy23 - your response is valuable to me and I appreciate the disagreement but can you elaborate?

To make clear - the book is on mindset and not so much on IM or steps to take to become an Entrepreneur.

Much like in order to have a functioning heart, one needs to have clear arteries - most Entrepreneurs want a fast beating heart but don't know proper diet. This book is about the internal struggles that most entrepreneurs have with themselves. If we can first fix our internal struggles, the outcomes would be better.

Thanks!

William I agree with Troy23. I also understand where you are coming from re mindset, however for me I'd need to be more specific about how I targetted this type of 'self development'. I say that because it could indeed be targetted at becoming an entrepreneur, however it could just as easily by written for those wanting to get promotion at work, or just wanting to improve. I think it needs more examples that relate tangibly to the 'outcome' of using it to develop entrepreneurship

It scared the hell out of me. Looks like something out of a sci fi movie.

Having said that, I don't relate to mind maps at all. Gimme a table of contents with headers and sub headers any day.

Awesome, thank you!

I agree with you on that. Looking at the outline, it can be read by anyone, not just Entrepreneurs / self-employed people. I was thinking that in the content itself and in the cover / table of contents, introduction, etc, I would cover who and what this book is for.

For now, do you think I need to change anything in the framework / outline to make it more laser targeted to Entrepreneurs? Can you give some examples?

Will

If it were me I'd ensure that I get back on track in the first few sentences of each sub heading within your paragraphs. For example under subheading 'have an attitude of gratitude', I'd say something along the lines of ... where you have had support or even minor or sporadic success in your attempts to become an entrpreneur; be thankful for what you have already achieved, it's your stepping stone to greater things! And so on. So use the first few sentences to laser focus in on the topic. This could apply equally if you re-wrote the book for employees for example...

I agree with travlinguy. I hate mind maps because they are too hard to follow.
I am also a writer and I work with chapters and sub-headings as well. I have written quite a few books, more for clients than for myself but I have done a few myself too.

It's also much easier to work with a book if it is formatted the way I mention because you can swap around headings and subheadings as needed while you write.

I wish you luck with your endeavour and I would be interested in the final version.
If you need somebody to proofread it down the track, please keep me in mind also.

Cheers, Laurence.
