Experienced IM'er to manage B2B lead-gen for (solid) established business
Share on:

I own a pretty successful firm that sells a subscription-based service to mid-sized manufacturers and tech companies.

I need an experienced internet marketer to work with me to scale-up our existing internet marketing activities. This can be either an hourly rate or a CPA type arrangement. It can be part- or full-time.

THE GOOD AND THE BAD

The good news is that our allowable acquisition cost is very high -- we'll happily spend >$1,000 for the action that immediately precedes the sale of one of our engagements. The other good news is that we have a shit-hot story for our target market. (We're changing the world in our little space.)

The bad news is that ours is a niche offering. We're NOT in the bus-opp space. Our target is owners of organizations that do >$10m a year in revenues (or execs of organizations that do 10x that).

THE STATUS QUO

We provide a service we call 'outsourced sales operations' to manufacturers and tech companies. They pay us $7.7k a month and we design, build and supervise their sales (and marketing) environments for them.

We have operations in the US, Australia and the UK. (I'll include a bunch of links at the bottom of this post so you can check us out.)

We currently use IM to generate almost all of our sales opportunities. We use PPC on LinkedIn to drive visitors to a landing page and give away physical copies of a book extract.

We also run three webinars on rotation, promoted to our house list.

Our sales process consists of the initial sale of a $5.5-8.8k workshop then, ultimately, the sale of engagements.

Our LinkedIn PPC generates about 100 book-requests a week. That builds our house list (about 25k contacts) and powers the rest of our activity.

We have in-house designers and direct-response copywriters. We also have a decent-sized technology team.

WHAT I WANT

I want to scale this thing up!

I'm aware that I'm sub-optimizing EVERYTHING -- but I only have limited hours in the day (and, as founder of the business, there's a lot of demands on my time).

I'm taking personal responsibility for this initiative -- because it's so important. But, I have plenty of resources to throw it it too (both internal resources and the willingness to add to our existing team of virtual personnel.)

IF YOU'RE INTERESTED

If you're interested, please give me an idea of your experience and -- better still -- make a meaningful observation or two (after exploring the links below) on this thread.

I do need someone experienced -- with a good grasp of business and IM fundamentals. You don't need copywriting, design or development skills -- we have those resources on tap. You need to be great at planning, execution and analysis.

Please DO NOT simply ask me to PM you. I'm a new member so I can't do that yet. And I don't have the time to start a whole bunch of one-on-one conversations. (If I had that kind of time, I wouldn't be posting this in the first place!)

Justin;

Looks like you have everything in place from an IM standpoint. The real world book giveaway (congratulations on your book) is something no funnel should be without. Your blog has a little traction but should be way more considering the high value content. Your back-end sales process must be very effective if your generating most sales from the internet.

Where I come in is maximizing those things your doing right by tracking, split testing and customer retention. In a nut shell all business online is about conversions and I noticed you are not currently setup to track your sales process from your book offer. The blog does have tracking but I will expand on that precision to maximize ever visit.

I have been building business online since 1998 and know what people want. With dozens of plugins that you just cant get anymore at my disposule and experience with all forms of marketing including branding, seo, ppc, cpa, media buys, ppv, co-registration and more doubling your conversions rate is just to start.

To start we will distribute your book in all formats across countless sites while developing your seo strategy for search traffic funneling everything into your list for easy followup and upsells. When you are happy with the conversion rate we will ramp it up with paid traffic from ppc, media buys and affiliates.

During the tweaking stage we will have implemented a full conversion chart to understand your user from where they are coming from to why they dropped off. I have some suggestions to double conversions overnight from what you currently have with a few simple tweaks (most companies see results within 48 hours).

Rather then spelling out the whole game plan here I will call so we can chat.

thanks;
Vincent

Hi Vincent

Thank you for commenting. You can try and ping me on Skype (justin.roffmarsh) but I'm enroute to Australia right now.

Your analysis of our current situation is correct.

We have strong content on the blog, but not a lot of traffic. Also our conversion rates from enquiry (landing-page submission) on are high (probably too high!).

However, your prescription doesn't seem to match your prognosis! Or, it may be that I'm not understanding properly.

My view is that what we need is traffic -- either to my blog, or to landing pages -- as opposed to higher conversions.

I can track conversion rates from LinkedIn traffic. My tracking of conversion of traffic from other sources is limited but then, as you pointed out, there isn't a lot of that.

So, unless I'm reading the situation wrong, I think what we need to do is jump right to the topic of traffic generation. I must say, I've lost faith in traditional approaches (SEO, social media, etc). Our offering is too niche for that. I believe our audience is readers of HBR, Forbes, Industry Week, apics.org and similar. It's a relatively small audience, that speaks a specialized language. It's definitely not a small business or (worse still) bus-op market!

My current thinking is that I should be experimenting with Ad buys on the sites I mention above. I just haven't had a chance to get to it yet.

Interested to hear your response.
