We’re a small start up group looking to recruit some blogging talent for launch. What we need are people with a passion in one or many areas including politics, religion, spirituality, conspiracy, etc that can write about current news topics from a socially liberal/economically conservative vantage point. For this initial blog, we are asking that you select a topic of your choosing and write out a 500+ word blog about your views/opinions/etc on it. After you submit it, a quick quality check can take place, we will pay you the $20 (paypal preferred), and the blog will appear on our website at launch (with all due credit to the writer). Those who fit the best will have an opportunity to continue on and write about current topics at a higher scale of pay (current thinking is $100 per 1k word topical posting) with room for further advancement.

I don''t understand why anyone is sending these guys work without being paid at least a little up front. You guys are working on spec, and working on spec with a new start up is not a good idea.

Just FYI, my minimum rate is 5 cents per word, and I require half up front with new clients. This is standard practice.

No worries, as our editor catches up to the submissions from WF I'm sure all will be well. Hopefully once some of these folk get payment we can avoid this concern. Though I understand the skepticism.

I also submitted an article and have heard nothing. Normally I avoid this type of arrangement but I gave it a shot because it's the kind of topic I enjoying covering.

The reason I generally stay away from these requests is that it can be a ruse to get free content. I learned this the hard way by applying to similar ads on Craigslist. I'm not saying that's the case here, but getting people to submit articles on spec can provide the advertiser with a nice collection of free articles.

To the OP -if my article doesn't fit your requirements, that's fine. I only ask that you don't publish it if you aren't going to pay for it.

Apologies on the delay guys, our editor got pretty buried under these submissions and had other things take up a day there. Glad they are finally catching up tonight. Still interested in more writers if anyone wants to give it a shot!

Thanks everyone for your submissions, we're still taking new ones for now, but we're looking to wrap up this process on Oct 1st or slightly after if we need more time to reach the 50 writer pool we wanted. So submissions slightly after will still be considered, but too far after will have to be approved on a case by case basis by the editor.
