I have to ask, are you using Animoto to create these videos (they certainly look like Animoto videos)?

If so, you are violating their TOS.

The Terms of Service allow for you to re-sell videos to individuals, but not to other businesses.

Each business using Animoto commercially must have their own Animoto for Business account. However, feel free to re-sell videos to individual people (for example, a videographer selling a video to a couple who just had a wedding).

Here is my policy :I have a valid commercial business license for the software I'm using to create my videos. I have paid a lot of money for this. I dont want to reveal in detail the method in which my videos are being created.

Video creation definitely takes time lets say atleast 2 hours for the kind of videos I create even if they are 3 minute duration videos. Also I do keyword inclusion/research, text title creation & analysing the website for which I'm creating the video for. I clearly understand anyone who is giving an order for video actually wants a sale to happen. I work hard to make that sale conversion happen through my video.

Im not selling videos here actually. I'm charging for my time in creating the videos for the individuals.

If people are comfortable to give me the orders I appreciate else I understand. I have a valid service here. I have a commercial business license for which I paid more than $300 & also I pay a lot to keep giving this service. I'm not here to make some quickbuck but rather to give a genuine service.

The price of $24 for a video is actually not that much compared to the effort it takes.But I also agree that $24 is not a small amount for lot of people.

I'm afraid you are mis-reading their terms.

You need to purchase a $249.00 licence for each client for whom you create videos.

I have verified this with them in the past by email, as I wanted to use their service to create videos for my bricks and mortar customers. Unfortunately their terms don't allow me to do that, and I had to stick with my more manual approach to video creation.

really it should, however if you're changing the meta data on subsequent YouTube uploads it will look really foolish (same video different terms). However using the same video, different details in different accounts would accomplish your outcome (oops... are you supposed to have more than one youtube account?)

Some things to look at is changing the video file name before uploading (even to different video sharing sites), change the length of the video even if by seconds, and of course use different titles, descriptions and tags with each upload (don't use some robot to enter in the same details in every site).

the great thing about using video to accomplish what you're after here is that no one has a program to actually watch a video yet and tell their search engine what the contents are... they have to rely upon what you tell it, it's all about.

Dave you're absolutely right! It spells it out very clearly in their TOS. So much so you can spot it miles away.

Roger, you may want to talk with them personally. Maybe they'd give you a "deal" of some sort because you're charging so little for the service that someone you make a video for could actually pony up and buy their own account to make videos...

I don't know why anyone would want to start doing that because it is a total pain to start and stop on video projects and days turn into weeks but that angle may actually interest them.

Hi Roger,

You clearly want to provide your customers with a good service, you can still do that without Animoto.

There is plenty of software out there to help with video creation — it might not produce end results as slick, and polished as Animoto does, but you can come close.

Why not invest some money upfront in royalty free photos and soundtracks?

You would of course need to raise your price point to reflect your investment and the extra time and work involved, but I am sure you would find an eager market for your work.

Here's a heads up that might save some extra problems for you down the road Roger...

Many of these "royalty free" sites DO charge extra licensing fee's to use their image in a resellable and/or electronic downloaded product. (ie you can use it on your web template but you cannot use it on a template you're selling to others).

I've spent a recent two weeks back and forth with many companies on this. There's always a clause that says something like "resale" or "electronic distribution". Just like Animoto... they feel that they will lose $$$ if they allow someone to use their product to make a $ reselling it.

I don't think the person buying the finished product would have used their service anyway, but that is how they feel after talking with a handful of them. I jumped over to elance and had custom images made so I knew they were mine to distribute how I wanted. They were practically cheaper than most subscriptions to redistributable 'royalty free' images.
