Real shame. While he was transferring all over to new owner, sites were down and Steve could have cared less. One thing for sure, I filed against him and got my money back. Learned a powerful lesson from all this, expensive one, but powerful: Stick with established companies and don't fall into the "quick buck" schemers like Steve. |

We had problems with intermittent downtime for some accounts over a few days which have been fully resolved weeks ago. As you mention you had no idea of any problems because there hasn't been any since, despite what you might read by some people still posting on here weeks after even being a client of ours? We are currently handing over the ownership to an experienced web hosting company who are investing heavily in new improved resources over the coming days and weeks ahead. This ownership transition is taking place over a few weeks and all clients have been notified and sent an introductory email from the new owner. Please be assured it's all good news providing much improved services. Regards Steve

Steve, you are lying. I had sites completely down for days at a time. Don't come back in here saying stuff that is not true. Quote:

Again I apologize for the downtime you experienced weeks ago. As I've mentioned, at the time we were doing everything in our power with the server center techs to get sites up and running which were eventually resolved and everything's been running fine since. I care a lot about our clients, 99% of which have stayed loyal to us through our past issues, ignoring the false accusations posted here. Quick buck schemer? You had problems with our service temporarily for which you've been reimbursed. Regards Steve

Steve, I am not going to go on and on with you here. You know what happened and how long sites were down. All I can say is I hope we never cross paths again. Terry Quote:

Gilruth is known to operate in dubious practices since the late nineties. Horse Racing Software that did'nt work. Host4Income which contravened the "Pyramid Selling Regulations". And now a dubious hosting company which led to an OVERSOLD Hip Hop Reseller account NOT Cloud Hosting atall. Trading Standards and UK Police are now starting to investigate. Host4income is a pyramid selling scheme operated from the UK by a Mr Steven Gilruth, in association with a number of other affiliates including Simon Stepsys and Miles Ward. In a pyramid scheme, a participant is able to earn commission simply by recruiting others, without selling any products. It is this distinction which differentiates pyramid schemes from Multi-Level-Marketing (MLM) schemes. In an MLM scheme, a participant can only recruit others if they also sell products. The host4income scheme attempts to sidestep this law by claiming that in addition to recruiting others, participants may operate “shopping sites” which generate income. However the scheme remains an illegal pyramid scheme since it is not necessary to earn money from “shopping site” sales to make money from the scheme. In the United Kingdom it is a criminal offence under the to operate a Pyramid Selling scheme. While a pyramid scheme is operating, the persons running the scheme at the top make money, sometimes very large amounts of money, since there is a large pool of unwitting people who sign up to the scheme. At this stage the organisers can suggest that since they are making large profits, each participant who joins the scheme should also be able to make similar profits. Unfortunately, the nature of the scheme means that once the supply of “unwitting people” runs out, the scheme collapses, sincethe last people to sign up are unable to sign anyone else (everyone else has either already joined the scheme, or knows that the scheme is a scam). At this point, the police normally carry out raids on the houses of the perpetrators and discover that the money generated by the scheme has already been spent by the people running the scheme and cannot be recovered. Host4Income.com To date over 2500 people are known to have lost over £500,000 to host4income in the UK alone. By informing people who are intending to join host4income about the true nature of the scheme it is hoped that this scam can be prevented from growing. You should contact the department of trade and industry to register your complaint about the scam, before contacting the office of fair trading to assist in the current prosecution of host4income: Ms Sarah Mills (Case Officer for host4income investigation) Office of Fair Trading Fleetbank House 2-6 Salisbury Square LONDON EC4Y 8J +44 (0)20 7211 8000 (switchboard) Ms Mills would like anyone who has paid money to the scheme to email her with the following details: 1 - the circumstances under which you were recruited to the scheme (ie via press advertisement, online advertisement etc) 2 - details of the advertisement itself (eg exchange and mart) 3 - the date which you joined the scheme 4 - details of the person above you who introduced you to the scheme (name, email address, ID code - eg AA001, and any other contact details you have relating to the person) - ie your UPLINE 5 - details of any persons who you introduced to the scheme yourself (name, email address, ID code - eg AA001, contact details) - ie your DOWNLINE -- Prior to setting up host4income, Mr Steven Gilruth's main business was the operation of a horseracing software scheme. The scheme is a “conventional” horse racing software scam (the sale of betting software which 'does not work', ie is unable to predict winners) In fact, the scheme is very similar in construction to host4income: persons subscribing to the software tipster service must sign up others on commission in order to make money. Unlike host4income, an actual 'product' must be sold to recruit another person. The scheme therefore does not fall foul of the pyramid selling act. However, since the software is misdescribed (a claim is made that the software is able to predict winning horses, but the software is unable to do so) the scheme breaks the various sale of goods and services acts, the property misdescriptions act, and the theft act (since the scheme was set up 'with intent' to deceive others). |

Cyberdetective, What you've copied and pasted above from an false 10 year old anonymous post regarding OFT is a load of made up lies. Try doing a little detective work yourself like asking the OFT if they've ever investigated me for anything first before believing and repeating such false allegations! Hip Hop reseller? Never heard of them? Trading standards and police are starting to investigate what exactly? That there may have been too many hosting accounts on a server? More lies. |

Well let's see why you are being investigated. Intent to defraud, false trade description, false advertising, breaches of the sale of goods act, not to mention FTC violations as this was touted globally. You only need to read the comments? Shame you were not so vocal when those losing money because of all the downtime became concerned and you ignored them! Just a sample of comments from others...... I cancelled my subscription at Paypal. Billed again without authorization. Be on the phone with them Monday morning reporting fraud... We have had to bring in federal police in australia as steve ran with over 2000 dollars of ours, feds are trying to question him but he is hiding now. |

This is exactly the type of false, hyped up rubbish that causes people to panic for no reason. More comments that are obviously false. "Fraud" hiding from the feds "Ran with over $2000" ? Does anyone seriously believe any of this for a hosting package that cost $2.95 p/m?

Thanks to those who created this thread. I couldn't understand what was happening. I only received notice of the sale long after the fact - and in fact, those emails delved into the security breaches that were transpiring and that were in the process of being battled. Not at all happy. Not. Then today I see a notice in PayPal that proudhosts have been suspended. Big surprise - not. Thank you all of you who have made this info available. I knew something was smelly - but I had no idea it was this bad. I'll never buy into anything that looks way too good to be true again. I'm only a newbie - but once bitten twice shy for sure. I've written that they can consider me cancelled as well. I hope the word spreads so that others aren't shammed this way. |
