If you can show an American how to stop their bill worries from eating them or even just make them feel like a million dollars, they will cough up the dough you are asking for in your product or service offerings in a heartbeat.
Now you will literally drive an American up the wall if you do not understand our idioms. They will entertain your offer, but in the end leave you high and dry because they realize you don’t “get” them.
We can smell a rat
Somehow or another, when someone from another country pitches an American, we always know something is fishy. We end up getting turned off when you approach us with all thumbs.
You might feel your product is on fire, but the reality is, your lack of understanding American culture will have put a wet blanket on the whole presentation and you won’t have a leg to stand on.
No one wants to lose their shirt, so you need to knock their socks off with likeability and trustworthiness before you jump down their throat asking for money.

True, that helps, but you will end up paying through the nose if you try to play it by ear with an American and you don’t really know the meat and potatoes of the USA.
