In a word - YES. As a travel professional I have not seen travel bargains like this in decades. Even around 9/11 the consumer advantage was not as good as it is today.

Recent research by the TIA estimates the US domestic travel and tourism market alone to be about $500 Billion Dollars! Now imagine the dollar value of all destinations around the globe!

There are 34 new ships on order between 2008 and 2012, representing a US$23.5 billion dollar investment. It has been estimated that half the population of the US is within driving distance of a cruise ship!

Cruise Lines, tour and land operators are providing exceptional offers for people to travel. Baby boomers who are inheriting the bulk of the wealth right now have travel high on their bucket list.

With the Western Hemisphere Passport Initiative, the number of US passport holders has continued to grow. In this fiscal year alone, more than 16 million passports have been issued!

The key is that consumers are more conscious about their spending so they are seeking more information before they open their wallet.

My articles are not just about wonderful destinations around the globe but also on how to travel on a budget and how to find and distinguish bargains in travel and how to make travel work for you. The urge to travel is something that is not going away. Never has.

As suppliers and tourism folks bump up their promotions and advertising more and more people are exposed to travel opportunities. It is a question again as to whether you see the glass as half full or half empty. The more traffic you can create the better position you are in to become an authority site.

My personal travel sales are up over 2008 even in this angry economy. I am leaving this week for the launch of a brand new luxury ship in Europe which is being followed by a sister ship next year. One major cruise line will be launching a 5400 passenger mega ship this year.

Rome, Venice, Syndey, New York, Hong Kong, the South Pacific, Canadian Rockies, etc. still have their magnetic draw and travelers are not folding up their tent and quitting travel. They want information on how to travel smarter and with added value.

A long answer to your question. Short answer is yes, you can make money in a travel niche. And the time to start is now while folks are really searching for bargains and opportunities to see places they might not have chosen to see.

No niche is really instant money in the bank. You still need to build a reputable site, align with affiliate partners and ad revenue and offer value to your visitor. My dad use to say "if you think the world owes you a living, go out and try and collect it"! No free lunch or we would all be on easy street and the Warrior Forum would not exist!

In my opinion even the auto business is still a good niche handled correctly.

I recommend you go to Flickr or some of the sites that allow use of photos or to iStockPhoto where you can often get pics for a small fee.
