First of all, I want to clarify i am not trying to trick you to just earn an affiliate commission. I only publish those offers, which have some value. I don't know that what is the nature of your business.... but if you sell or promote any kind of products online, then i believe it will be prove to be a great product for you. This market is saturated. I know because Ive been involved in building and promoting a real-time offers platform where businesses can create their own offers.

The challenge isn't a technical one its a marketing one. You need to sign-up businesses who want to know what sort of coverage they are going to get and they wont run offers without a decent user base and users will get hacked off if there isn't offers for them to consume.

This is a *big* hurdle to overcome. In the UK some big players have entered the market, not because they are offering anything remarkable but more as a customer retention tool or something that gives them a differentiator in their vertical. For example barclaycard have launched something in the UK and are spending serious ££££s on a TV and radio campaign. Nationwide (a bank/building society) and Vodafone have also launched offerings.

Even if they don't do particularly well it dilutes the offering for others and there is certainly alot of deal fatigue amongst business owners.

If you follow the groupon business model you won't have a sustainable business. The main issue we tackled with our offering is letting the business decide on the margins. For groupon deals offering a 70% discount means a business rarely turns bargain seekers into repeat customers. The flip-side is if the offer isn't compelling enough then you wont attract punters in the first place.

If you have existing relationships with businesses then something like this is great as it just gives to a value-add. If you are looking at it as a business/new route to market then it is extremely tough.

I bought the multi-site license about 3 weeks ago and the tech support people tell me my webhosting facility should know how to install it. What a laugh. If your webhosting facility does not have suptalucous or something like that,their helpdesk has no clue what to do. They say the webhosting facility should know the correct permissions but they(meaning the MemberSpeed Help desk) won't tell me what they are. They also have no explanation in the installation manual of how you manually connect MySQL to EasyDealBuilder. I told them that that has to happen. They haven't even mentioned it to me yet. This is pa_hetic.

Sorry to hear about your issues. Any luck installing it yet? I'm surprised that EDB support never offered to install it for you. It would have been nice and surely wouldn't have taken them more than a few minutes as it did me. Personally I found the install guide was step by step and easy to follow and I never had to bother with/change the permissions (via Hostgator) from the default settings. I just used cpanel filemanger to upload. If I can help in any way let me know(?) Just PM me if I can assist.

BTW: I'm not affiliated with EDB or it's support in anyway - I just think this is a cool product. Given this I am having a problem with the exit popup not working though. The redirect will happen it's just that the custom message textbox does not show. Does anyone else have issues with this not working for them?

They do not know their product. They keep closing the tickets as if they solved something. I compressed admin then uploaded that then decompressed it under my Deals directory. I am not missing any files and the error statement is

"Installation error - There are problems writing files to your webserver.
Installation cannot continue - Please contact support and quote Error code 200
You can contact support at : easydealbuilder dot com support "

I refuse to give them the Username and Password for my website which is 11,000 with over 600,000 backlinks because they are untrustworthy and the contents of my website are extremely valuable.
Here is my last statement to them and it has been almost 4 weeks since I bought this product:

" Do I have to ask for my money back from PayPal? You need to know what the proper permissions should be in any of your directories and files of your products. Your installation manual is useless. I DO NOT WANT MY MONEY BACK. I want your advice on how to install it. You don't know what Error code 200 means? What permissions should I have for each directory and the files inside each? "

The correct permissions are 644 for the compressed EDB "admin" folder (actually admin.zip as you upload it) via cpanel filemanager. Don't worry about setting permissions for any other files inside it. You do not need to. So long as the EDB "admin" zip file is uploaded into your "deals" folder using 644 there shouldn't be a problem unless there is something very weird happening with your server settings. Then (of course) just extract the admin folder into your deals folder before launching install.php from your web browser.

You don't have to give EDB support permission to access your whole domain and it is not necessary to do so. They would not expect it either. The correct (and safe) way to do it is to create a new FTP "user" identity via your cpanel ("Files" > "FTP Accounts") specifying the relevant directory (root folder) as "deals". Give the new user a completely different password to your cpanel password. Send EDB support the new login credentials for the new user. Thus you are restricting what they can access and limiting it *specifically* to your EDB installation.

Set this up right (it only takes five minutes) and you can therefore safely let them play with it to their hearts content - so long as they fix the issue(s). Also ask them what specific server settings you need and run these via your hosts support to ensure the thing runs okay. Your hosting support should make these changes on your behalf if they are any good.

I may, with your permission, submit this to them since they are clueless.
Even though I did not want it ,they gave me a refund for the regular and the Multi-site license.
You were absolutely correct. I had been worrying about the permissions on /admin/ and the files while all along the Deals directory was set for 777 . OOOps. So I just reset it to 644. However, I changed the admin to 644 and /admin/install.php to 644 but they keep going back to 777. I am using FileManager on WEBePanel on Host4Profit dot net not a CPanel .
When I changed /admin/ to 644 it stays at 775 but says
Last Action: Changed File Permission of admin to 644. I refresh the page
but still 775. That is because the /admin directory has a Password protection symbol on it with all directories underneath with the same

symbol but with No username or password in them:
No current password protection.

So what I willl try to do is to put a Username and password in there and then try to change the permissions on/admin/ and all the directories underneath to 644 and then come back and tell the Forum how that worked out.

Please don't allow the tantrums of frustrated users taint your decision making, there are literally dozens of positive reviews on 'Easy Deal Maker' on the internet...

If you are having problems and asking for help, a less critical tone of your questioning will more likely get you the help you're seeking.

Even if you are technically challenged and don't understand how to use FTP, there are lots of people who will help you install the stript.... Just Google the proposition.
