Hey Allen,

Just a suggestion. I think sig links should be stripped away from those that do not upgrade to Full Member as well. Just an additional measure to stop spammers.

I always hated paypal, but going thru the review process to become member now

Amen Kevin! Personally, if this were my forum, I'd charge MONTHLY for access to ANY of the forum. I've belonged to many private forums over the past few years (some paying as much as $97/month) and continue to belong to paid private forums today.

I still can't understand why anyone who has a heartbeat can gain access to this forum and get tons of incredibly useful information - for free. If I were Allen, I would charge $5/month or even $25/year to gain access to the forum at all - never mind being able to post WSO's.

At any rate, this change is a step in the right direction!

Travis

I can't only partially agree with this. Yes, $37 may be a hurdle for some. However, this is business. If a Warrior can't invest $37 in their business, they would be well advised to start writing resumes.

Building a business calls for commitment - commitment of your time and money. If a Warrior does not have $37, I would highly recommend they cancel their cable TV, give up a dinner out, forego a night at the movie theater, say no to ordering in pizza, stop smoking, take the bicycle instead of the car, do whatever it takes to save some money to invest in your business. If you can't make that kind of sacrifice, you are not a true Warrior.

YES! I agree with Chris Hunter and RichBastards...

Removing sig links from non-paid members is an excellent idea that will ALSO help reduce some of the low-value junk.

Consider it, will you Allen?

Outstanding. Quality typically goes up when you've got to shell out the greenbacks and those that understand the power of the forum won't have any issue whipping out the wallet.

Cheers

Update...I'd have to agree with the signature recommendation.

I also paid to join several years ago, but lost my member name and password, then paid to join the war room a year or so ago.

What happens to those people, like Pete Egeler, that originally paid?

That's a very good move and I hope that the overall quality of the forum will improve in all areas. I already had the plan to join soon. Now, owing to these changes, I have just taken the move a bit earlier. Hope to learn many new things in the War Room.

I've been a paid war room member since my start here. I already have my own site and had been looking for some methods to get more traffic and maybe even outsourcing. I mostly just read for now. However, it would be nice if paid members could post in the special offers section without that 30 post requirement. I have questions sometimes about the offers that I would like answered before I make the purchase and I promise I wouldn't have paid for the upgrade if all I wanted to do was spam the site.

Thanks Allen, this is a great move. I've been thinking of joining the war room for a couple of days and this just clinched it.

I hope it helps with the WSO's which I'm sure it will. I had considered putting up a farily great deal as a WSO just as a way to say thanks for the jump start I got right here at this forum. The education I got right here for free is one of the main reasons I have since been able to quit my job and do IM fulltime.

Thanks for looking out for the quality of this place.

I agree it's an excellent move.

I'm in Internet Marketing since 2004 and I can't remember one month when I didn't purchase a few hundred dollars at least in tools n training.

Warrior Forum is an awesome resource -it take me more than 4 years to find it out!- and $ 37 is a real-incredible-non sense-I-have-no-words BARGAIN!

Thank you so much Allen for your dedication to this Forum.

I'll be really glad to see WSO's quality increase and diferenciate more easily gold from junk.

BTW, this 37 dollars fee not only mean a contribution to this forum manteinance.

I think the "War Room Member" label could be useful to us to see at least who is taking his IM career by serious.

Congratulations!

Personally, I think that the majority of this forum should be private and invisible to the general public without a token fee ($10). Enough people would be invited, or be enticed to pay to see the other boards with just one board public.

Then levels of membership $20 to post WSOs, etc and $40 for the war room.

But that is just me. The information even in the general IM forum is certainly worth more than $10 or even 100 times that. If $10 keeps out spammers and bots, it would be well worth the expense. (And Allen certainly earns at least that much. Think about it, he doesn't even monetize the forum with ads on every other post or along the top and sides like many forums do. Sometimes, even pay forums that charge more than $10 have ads. Many forums that charge more than $10 contain much less information than this one.)
Just a thought.

fact 1. I was made redundant, like countless others recently. My real life income gone.

fact 2. Divorce removed another income source.

fact 3. You live to your means. I now have a £640 a month mortgage and an income of £100 a month unemployment benefit.

fact 4. I can't write to save my life, and need a CV which will cost £59.

I don't buy pizza and coke. I don't have nights on the town, pissing anything against a wall (sort of physically impossible really) and I don't buy online games. BUT, I do have to decide whether I eat this month or buy my CV layout so that I at least have a chance of obtaining an income whilst I work my way around the excellent advice I have received from a forum member.

Finding another $37 this month is nigh on impossible. So, not everyone is here to waste your time just because they 'will not take their business seriously' Some are taking the advice they have been given, implementing it and knowing it will take some weeks to see results, are trying to stay afloat!

Blanket insults are not helpful.
Katie, it looks like you are already a war room member. So maybe someone else already stepped up before me. I would pay your fee if you needed it. If you need some extra work, just PM me. I have more than I can do already. Most of it involves writing so that may be difficult if you can't write. but writing is the best way to improve that skill set.

It's fairly hard to get a thank you and it would mean that the posts made were of high quality and a help to the community.
I think this is an excellent idea. IMO it would increase the quality of WSO's as well as the credibility. It is relatively easy to join the forum and to boost post count quickly but the quality of the posting is what gives a certain amount of credibility. As far as 'selling thanks' I don't think this is feasible.

Thanks Allen,

I really do appreciate the move. I have been reading a lot in the forum and was getting to the point I would only read certain things because there was so much junk. I stopped looking through the WSO section because of what I was reading also.

Great to see this.

It's been time for a change, but I'm of two minds on this.

On one hand, there's been a noticeable increase of low-quality WSO's lately. So kudos to Allen for taking steps to clean things up and elevate quality once more. There's nothing like testing people's commitment like charging a fee.

On the other hand, I'll be running my first WSO soon, and I find my timing to be ironically entertaining. I guess I'll have a good cry and try to hug the cat. Just have to find the band-aids first.

If I couldn't browse the forum free of charge, I would never have joined. I suspect that's true of many other people, too. I think Allen's made exactly the right call, although I would probably drag the WSO forum into the War Room.

If you want to post a classified, sure. Want to post in Warriors For Hire, sure. Want to post a WSO? Join. Same for ordering... if you haven't paid, you can't get the WSO. That's what makes it special.

Just my two cents, and I do see a decent justification for leaving it out of the WR. It's a judgment call, and I trust Allen's.

Actually, this forum was private in the late 1990's. Some of us were members then. It became public later, in 2002 I think.

Initially when it was private, it was "free" as a bonus to some of Allen's products.

Hi Shaun,

RM is Malaysian, is that right?

That's rough about the cost of McDonalds as compared to general income. In Australia, a Big Mac meal costs about RM18.

Having said that, I'd much rather eat Malaysian food than Macca's - you've got some great cuisine (and scuba diving, from what I hear).

If cost of living is quite expensive, then I guess my comments don't apply - sorry for the confusion!

Best of luck with your business, though - I'm sure you'll be buying as many Big Macs as you want in the future!

cheers
Sam

Why this change has been made:

The forum is getting overrun with "less than acceptable" people who have discovered how easy it is to make money with Warrior Special Offers and that they can get a site indexed within minutes by posting a junk blog on the forum.

I deleted 7 blogs last night that were made by people with zero posts to their name. These are not serious members, these are spammers.

It's been my experience that people who pay for something respect it more and are at least willing to read the rules.

I know this will not stop all the problems but it will drastically cut down on them.

Thank you for understanding..

Allen
I understand why you need to do something, however, I have one question what about those of us who have been here a while and have tried to contribute is there any kind of an in between for us at all?

Just wondering

take care

Exactly so! Practice makes perfect Katie, and based on your posts and correspondence I think you could do quite well at writing. At least for the time being to bring in some extra money, it is one of the fastest ways I know of to get started earning a buck quickly.

Kudo's Bruce for offering her overflow. And I often have overflow as well, so I can keep you on my list too Katie.

A good way to put things in perspective is imagine a warrior forum then imagine No warriorforum. We then realize how good we have it.

I am personally extremely thankful to this forum not only the Admin but the majority of members I have personally come in contact with (which is quite alot) are some great people and quality marketers as well.

This forum is just like the Net itself..we have to continually make adjustments if we want to grow and prosper.

One poster mentioned that the unsavory elements will just flood the War Room but it is true that most of those types do not like spending a penny of their own money.

But the good news is that most who do will think twice about how fast their real intentions will be exposed.

Many times in life the bar is raised (whether we like it or not) but we always rise to the occasion.

I'm fairly new to IM and this forum. I joined the War Room because I kept seeing posts about how the value of what is posted in the War Room far outweighs the cost to join. I found that to be absolutely true. The cost is minimal compared to the benefits.

I think newbies benefit even more from the new rules because it's like someone has our back. If these rules help keep junk from being offered in the WSO forum, it means we're less likely to spend money on something that is worthless.

I will say this though, given what is offered to members in the War Room, I haven't really ventured into the WSO forum yet.

This sounds like a good idea. Plus, $37 is cheap compared to the value we get here.

Allen,
Quote:
The $37 will not stop all our problems, that's not going to happen. What it will do is vastly reduce a certain type of person I don't want here. I'd really rather not go into fine details on that in public but there is no doubt that a major source of our troubles will be reduced and will help keep this forum at a level that's at least readable.
There will be different problems, but they'll be less in number, and easier to deal with. If people pay attention to when someone signed up before buying a WSO, that will deal with a lot of them.

This will get rid of most of the BS one-liners (creeps) and the folks who speak English so poorly they can't make themselves understood (not bad people - just not native English speakers). The way to get rid of most of the rest is to disallow sigs for non-paying members. That takes out the incentive for the $2-a-day keyword link spammers.

That may not be technically feasible, though. Or, depending on the goals, desirable.
Quote:
So that means I was never supposed to create another product for sale after you became a Warrior member?
The more you give, the less you're allowed to ask, at least according to some people.

If people come to associate a resource with "free," and then see a pitch in it, that creates a little annoyance for some of them. Some think about it and realize what's going on. Others just react. Some seek out only the free resources, and resent being asked to pay for anything.

And Dog forbid that you give something for free and change your mind later. Instead of being appreciative of what they've been given, some people feel entitled to get the free thing forever. How DARE you change your mind?!

For the folks suggesting taking the WSO section into the War Room, think before you ask for something. There are a lot of non-members who buy in that section. They add sales, create no more problems than any other group of customers, and make the option more valuable.

Do you really want to chase those folks away?

Paul

I've bought worthless IM packages for much MUCH more than $37. The value of the war room easily eclipses the majority of IM product on the market today.

Thanks Allen!

Jeez I never actually really knew what the War Room was actually all about, this thread made me go check it out, and I'm kinda kicking myself for not joining up straight away...next paycheck, I'm in!
And yeah this can only be a good thing if it clears up the muddied waters in the WSO section, noticing a lot of hyped-up cr*p in there!
