Warriors,
I got something created for you... It's a PDF creator that installs as a printer driver. Very easy to use. Just install and then when you are on a page you want to turn into PDF just choose print, then WarriorPDF, and click print. Done... Very cool and I use it all the time.. You can grab it here: WarriorPDF You "might" need to install GostScript on your computer. Most people already have it but if not you can grab that here: GhostScript GhostScript is just an interpreter for the PostScript language and for PDF. If you install WarriorPDF and do not have GhostScript installed already it will ask you if you want to install it automatically so you really don't need to download it. Somebody care to create a quick video showing how to use it? Just the print part, I still don't know what all the desktop icon does or is even for :-) I hope you enjoy this! Allen |

Luckily us Mac users have "Print to PDF" functionality available on any page we want to print.
![]() In case you have a Mac and don't know. Just goto File => Print, then click "PDF" in the bottom left of the window the pops up, and then "Save as PDF". Enjoy! Mike |

Thanks Mike & Michelle...
I was hoping someone would find it useful, I just paid $999 to have it customized for us. It's kind of a bummer this thread died so quickly. Oh well, if just a few people like it as much as I do it'll be worth it :-) Allen |

Funny this...just yesterday I hired a programmer to create me my own PDF Printer...and negotiated him down to $400. Will see how it turns out though... -- $999 is not bad though - for your own branded printer.

Pretty nifty, Thanks, Allen.
One thing that was different for me was the install aborted when GhostScript wasn't found, so I had to come back here, download it, install it, then run the install again, but no problem and that link much appreciated. Also, (I'm running WinXP Pro in Japanese) I was presented with a dialog box asking me which language I wanted to install it in. Very nice. I'm guessing it may just do English when English is detected, but it was default at Japanese on this machine. Here's a quick note about saving: After you've downloaded/installed things, double click the desktop icon (if you created one during install, if not, double click the icon in the folder you installed to). Then click on "dialogs" and check the radio button for "always ask". This will give you a dialog box asking you where you want to save your new pdf, instead of by default putting it on your desktop. Under general, the radio button should already be checked for 'remember last folder', but check to make sure. This way you can save the files to the same folder, or create subfolders there for instance for different types of threads you're saving. I'm going to be heading to the WSO section and popping a few of the better written ones into swipe files as soon as I post this :-) Be well, live well, die last. Allen |

How is it that so many here want to pay an INCREDIBLY small amount for custom software they have full rights to, and others pay so much for "canned" software!?!?!?!?!? It should be, is supposed to be, and usually ends up being, the other way. It is the old supply/demand, rarity, distributed cost, convenience, etc... theory of pricing. Custom stuff requires a lot of effort and can be sold to maybe one person. They have to bear all the cost. Canned software may be sold to millions, so the cost per person is far lower. BTW Allen.... Don't kill me! I found FULL DOCS! PDF Writer - Guide Quote:
Just yesterday I was considering relating a story, that had something to do about the way some on this forum are, etc.... (NOT insulting! Just funny.) I guess I won't do it now. 8-( BTW a bit of perspective on Custom Software... As late as 1981, the COBOL standards were supposedly $50 per line of code, and 5 lines of code per day. BTW That works out to a salary of $65,000 USD/year for 1300 lines of code! And COBOL programs can be HUGE, compared to other languages! TODAY, of course, people may not get that much, and are expected to do more, even if most don't. The average NON COBOL program I write is about 1000 lines. Just yesterday, I wrote one that takes a tabbed file, places it into an excel file that has a non scrollable region, bolds the headers, autosizes the columns, and emails it to a number of people. That is about 250 lines! So a COBOL employer, in the 80s, would have expected to pay $12,500 USD for it! Steve

BTW I set it to ebook resolution. That MIGHT be key to making links clickable. MAYBE I'll remember to update the kernal of my latest ebook this weekend and run it through this! The timing might be fortuitous! BTW At least on vista, you DO need to download ghostscript first. Steve

Nice download, thanks.
I spent some time a while back looking for a Vbulletin add-on that would allow people to save a whole thread as pdf - even if it spanned several pages. No luck. Anyone know of such a thing? |

Hey Gang
Having trouble getting the links clickable. I printed in Ebook format and it highlighted in blue but would not work. David P.S. Fixed it, at least in ebook format it works with the standard links such as www.xyz.com or http://www.xyz.com. I tested creating a copy of one of the replys above with a link and it didn't work but when I created the link from scratch myself it did. Has anyone found a way to set the size of the pdf, mine keeps defaulting to 53% and I have to manually increase the size each time to read it? |

How strange...I can't get the hyperlinks to work...grrr!
P.S. - Fixed! I hadn't seen David's comment yet when I wrote the above :-) But he had indeed the answer, so thanks David. I re-wrote my url's and now everything works as it should. Allen, thanks very much! I'm so pleased with this, as for some odd reason I couldn't get PDFedit995 to open my docs anymore... So WarriorPDF comes at just the right time for me. Jim B. |
