Default What can you do if an adswap goes bad?

Is there a way of reporting adswappers that don't deliver on their promises?

I just did an adswap with a Warrior that said he had "about 300 subscribers" but I only got a few visitors and one signup.

Thanks,

John

Hi John, There's a lot of that cases around here, next time you have to be careful. Try to contact the guy you're going to have a jv first and know something about him through his posts and previous ad swap performance. You can also ask his list video or contact him through phone ,skype or anything using actual conversation before doing any transaction with him.

By the way you can also ask him who else he was able to jv with previously for more information.

That does not mean they r being dishonest to you, it might just mean their list is not as responsive. I have a similar list to that, at first they were responsive to offers, now they are hardly responsive to my offers

I get asked for adswaps all the time but I decline until I build my list up to a point that I know they are going to be responsive

I don't want the other party to feel they have been ripped off when they do an adswap with me

It also depends on how this person generated their list

If I had a list of 300 subscribers and was only able to get one to optin on a promotion, I wouldn't do adswaps.

The small numbers don't necessarily mean that you've been had. The list might not have matched your audience. And in my opinion, 300 is really small list.

There's a few reasons this could happen, as some have said, but others as well:

- might have been a "bad" (unresponsive) list
- might NOT have been interested in your offer

But there's other things to consider.

Yes, the list might have been "too small'... but on the other side of the coin, I've done ad swaps with huge lists and had poor results - yet great results on very small lists (i.e., 300).

So that can totally depend on the list.

Also, how did they send the email? i.e., was it from a proper autoresponder system like Getresponse or Aweber, or did they use their own system (or worse, their own email (Outlook) to send?

I say that because many mailers are blocked by ISPs (or held, delayed, or go right into the spam box). Yahoo is notorious for this, even for things you've subscribed to or paid for.

Another thought is, WHEN did the person email? I know not everyone agrees with this, but sending an ad swap at say Friday afternoon vs. Tuesday morning can have totally different results (again, depending on the list).

For the benefit of the doubt, those 300 people "could" have been all paid people - just not interested, or those 300 could also be entirely freebie seekers (in which case if they think they might see an upsell, they won't bother, or they'd use a throw-away email that they rarely check.)

I have many lists, but for example one is just over 100 subscribers. BUT... every single one of them is a buyer. Some offers do great with that list, others get 0 response.

Just an aside, I have also noticed a difference in response rates (even with my own lists) depending on the time of the month.

i.e., last week of the month is usually not great... same with the first week (especially if the 1st falls between Wed-Fri). Yet weeks 2-3 in a month usually do pretty good.

So it could all have to do with timing as well.

Did you subscribe to his list to see how it goes out, or perhaps even how often he mails his list? (i.e., if he mails "too" often, they may turn a blind eye).

Just some thoughts.
