well, that all depends on type of promotion.. I was doing some PPC search campaigns on adwords, and had arround 4-5% conversion rate, with just a few keywords and adgroups..
Doing image ppc ads on adwords, conversions were a bit lower(around 1%) but with good optimized campaign I was getting clicks from $0.01-0.05 cpc, so it was very profitable even with such low CR..
