WANTED: Someone who can hold me accountable

Hey guys,

I want someone who is willing to share their email with me and is ready to hold me accountable.

I want to make my success inevitable. I have a goal in mind and have made a plan of action.

I want to write a certain amount of articles everyday. Every night, I'm going to report back that I did that many number of articles that day.

If I don't, you can do something to humiliate me or take away some of my cash.

I can do the same for you too. Or we can create a triangle.

Let me know if you are ready to make success inevitable.

Hire a coach - an expensive one - then if you don't hold yourself accountable, it will cost you.

Simple fact is - if you can't be accountable to yourself, no one can do it for you.

well, I'm a 17 year old marketer who doesn't have a lot of cash around. $100 is big enough for me. I can pay at least $200 to hold me accountable.

if you can't be accountable to yourself, no one can do it for you. - Really. I'd like to see if you are accountable to yourself. No offense, mate.

I have tried to do something consistently but have never been able to maintain that consistency. But maybe, it's because I'm too young.

But Eben Pagan says that we are not in control of ourselves as we'd like to think. It's quite true. I can't get myself to do something even if I chose to. (The illusion of control) is dangerous.

I'll kick your butt everyday. I enjoy doing that. My email is already listed on my profile somewhere around here.

Anyways, your other issue is that you might be expecting such high results that you are disappointed when you don't really get much done. Start small. Write one article...good. Now write another article...good.

And continue doing that everyday, and be consistent with that, at least one article per day, until you can increase it.

Of course he can be accountable to himself. Just because you cannot knuckle down and do some hard work does not mean the rest of us don't!

Not only is your success not inevitable you are already destined to fail if you have that philosophy. If you can't get yourself to do something even if you choose to then you will fail in any and every thing.

    Hint: write a journal.

Put the date on the top of the page.
Then write down whatever statistics you'd like to monitor long-term: number of articles written, 1-10 rating of your motivation for that day, etc.
Then write down what you had planned to do that day.
Then write down exactly what you got done that day.

If there's any difference between the two lists, force yourself to write down exactly why. Nothing's better than humiliating yourself. If that means writing down "I was lazy" for a week in a row, do it.

You'll find yourself not wanting to write that down for posterity.

      I'm with Zabrina,

I have always found that I need restrictions to do my best work. I need a set time limit, restrictions placed on my resources and accountability to do my best work.

I work best with a team. Granted I'm usually the head of the team but knowing that I have other people depending on me to get stuff done while havering the safety net of knowing help is available if needed really helps.

Having that safety net really helps keep stress in check. Too much stress will kill your creativity and in the worst case it may even kill you. But with out a little "good" stress most people lack motivation and would never take action.

    I totally agree with Zabrina.

I think it HELPS to have the accountability factor but its best to hold your self accountable for all you wanted to do and didn't do. Make daily, weekly, and monthly goals; then check back to see exactly what was accomplished. Regardless if you've achieved all, some, or none, it should fuel your fire to continually strive to do better.

Here's a cheap way to do it. Tell all your friends and family about your plans. Most will say it will never work and call you crazy. Then you will have a few that ask you here and there "So how much money you making online?". That should get you pissed enough to prove them wrong. That's what got be going in the beginning

That won't work coz friends and family are jealous... They won't learn(EGO) and they'll continue to be jealous of your success.

Here's an idea that may help (although it won't give you full accountability to another person):

Every night, write down what you've achieved that day. You'll potentially have to face a rather empty bit of paper without putting some work in. Of course this does require you to be honest with yourself too.

        Hope that helps.

Looking back I can see that not having an accountability coach cost me 3 YEARS. It's an excellent idea. I had an agreement with a coach in which she'd only get paid if I didn't make a deadline on a number of goals the primary one being IM. The wife however didn't exactly approve of that idea...

There is one thing that I think anyone needs to do before they start working from home or anything like that.

Look in the mirror(ok not literally)

      Ask yourself...

      1) Do you have drive?

      2) Can you accept failure and learn from it or give up?

      3) Can you treat working from home just like going to work for someone else... day in and day out? Or will you get lazy?

      4) Can you literally get angry with yourself for not reaching goals? (Not depression angry...motivational angry)

There are goals that are different for everyone...

For instance I am not materialistic...my drive is really to stay working from home and my kids to have what they want and to not worry from pay check to pay check...

Some people have goals like a new 50k+ car...a 500k+ house...

Nothing wrong with those goals...whatever drives you... use it to your advantage. But your going to have to find a drive that is really deeply embedded that gives you the motivation to succeed. If you have that you will succeed...

Look internet marketing is the first business where you can seriously write your own check...But way too many people go in it with the completely wrong outlook...

      1) They think it is get rich quick...(The dot com 90s are over)

      2) They think they can work 4 hours a week (Maybe some day when you've spent years building or get extremely lucky)

      3) They have ideas that they want to implement without ever being successful following processes that have worked for years and are proven. Trying to hit that homerun without any prior knowledge or experience.

And I could probably go on and on for hours...

But really... Jeremy and I see so many people try to make it online that don't really try...they think they are trying but they really aren't. Then you have that 1% that can't be stopped..won't be stopped...have motivation over flowing. Those people make it...they stay on top.

It all boils down to you... You are really the only one that can hold yourself accountable that really matters. No one can be harder on someone then themselves.

It's a great idea to motivate yourself, but why not put the money you have into getting someone to write you a certain amount of articles (after you have done the keyword research/niche research etc..) Place them on EZA and other directories and have your resource box pointing to an affiliate offer.

If those articles make you money, then that will be enough for you to get even MORE motivated!

Failing that, just get a bunch of PLR articles, say 20-30 and make it a goal to re-write every single one of them.

May sound crazy, but i was always taught that only YOU are accountable for your own actions?

Failing all that, give me a shout and i'll let you have access to our affiliate video coaching program that will teach you how to make money using nothing but free methods...follow it along and it should easily get you going.

See the only issue I have with this, is how will you prove you are doing what you are doing....and if you do show the URLS and other links to the work you have done, your competition may come in as well and steal things, or just make things bad for you.

A lot of things are NOT revealed on this forum for a reason: competition.

SO that's where it may be an issue, is getting other warriors to reveal how they do what they do....then the competition will know and can out rank them and out do them.

But of course, one could have other ways of proving it, but I think the reason why a personal mentor (or simply one's own motivation) was suggested at times, because at least you are not showing everything to everyone, and personal mentors can at least be trusted with your private information.

You have already made the first step in requesting for support in your accountability. So here's my advice, pat yourself on the back for doing that! A lot of people would not have done it! Yes, it is a brilliant idea to put into place a support group that can make you accountable. We all need support and we all need something that will fire the engine every morning. No one can do it alone. No one. We need customers, listeners, supporters, advisers even coaches!

So yes, put me down for accountability. Post your goals on here,
make them achievable - short goals, per day, medium goals, per week, long term goals per month - how many articles, how much money made. AND BE SPECIFIC - give a number, give an amount.
then each day post here what you have done, or not done (just as important) Don't knock yourself for 'failure' but discover what stopped you. True failure is giving up altogether.
So go go buddy, tylerdrun, keep at it. Drive, focus, goals setting, and support Group!
    NovaPublications.
Must get a photo on here! lol

Are we not missing the point? The accountability coach is there to make sure we are doing the basics, and that we prioritise.

Yes, one day we should do that ourselves, but the first small step is to get started with a little push from other people. I commend you all for stepping up and acknowledging we all have a problem to be solved...

Here is my offer. A while ago on this very forum, I offered free coaching in a challenge to another WF member. It proved very very popular, so its time to do it again...

Now, Im about to launch a new coaching program, where accountability forms a big part. Because you guys have shown action here, I will pick another 5 people who will join the program for FREE. Why?

Because surounding myself by people who are as motivated as I am only makes me even more motivated and even more successful, and by being acive on WF you have shown already your willingness to learn from others...

But to get in FREE you have to convince me of why you will be a success. Simply tell me your goals and where you will be in 5 years time and what you currently have done and are doing to guarantee your success.

Tyler, I sent you a pm offering you the first FREE spot as I lke your drive

One useful tip I use to hold myself accountable is work with a countdown timer. I suggest you invest in a countdown timer set it to 50 minutes and press go this way you are working in a very focused manor i.e write and post at least 1 article in 50 mins. as you practice your focus will become more refined. i have the approach of writing a paper for a timed exam... this motivates me to stay focused and write quickly with no room for distractions. Oh and also don't take phone calls during your "marketing" time. Great good luck ... Ark

    Hi Tyler

Having a plan in front of you is great, and something you need to not only keep you focused, but also to measure how close you are to reaching your goals.

Another thing you may want to consider is making it a habit to note the things you do during the day.

Take the time to look at what you actually spend your limited time doing, you'll see there are several things you can either cut back or eliminate altogether.

I've known some people who couldn't get things done because the computer they used also had a shortcut to World of Warcraft on the desktop.

Having anything in front of you non marketing related, makes you much more likely to "take just a few minutes" to do other things.

It doesn't have to be video gaming.

Surfing forums or visiting every link in your inbox can kill half a day at least.

These things eat your time and profits.

It leads to an entire day wasted.

So, my advice to urge you along is to take stock of what you ARE doing, along with what you AREN'T doing.

You'll then need to make some choices on priority.

I suggest having a dedicated marketing ONLY machine with desktop shortcuts to only marketing related programs.

If they aren't there now, make it so immediately, not later.

If you'e a link chaser, check your email as the last task for the day.

These are just a few things which can make a huge difference.

    The best to ya!

    Dennis

If you aren't already accountable for your life and business ... who is? If you want to hire a coach, you're going to need more than $100.

If being 17 is a drawback, try it again when you are more mature and able to take full responsibility for your life. It doesn't sound like you have much commitment at this point.

I can't believe so many people expecting someone to totally be accountable for themselves or saying you're not committed if you can't be...that's crazy talk, nonsense, yes I said it. That's what coaches are for and even assistants, to keep you on track because sometimes that's just what we need...not everyone is the same and we have to do what works for US NOT SOMEONE ELSE.

Good for you if you can totally keep yourself on track and totally accountable but if you can't, you're absolutely doing the right thing by asking for help!!!!! Congrats on recognizing your needs and trying to find a solution.

I'm happy to help, PM me if you want to chat. ...and don't let the naysayers get you down or discourage you, I'd saying just asking for help is a huge accomplishment and step in the right direction. You don't have to operate like them or be built like them...you be YOU and get what YOU need!

There is nothing wrong with looking for someone to hold you accountable but you may not need to go that far. Perhaps some simple self-motivation (accountability) is all you need.

I remember during my 20 plus years in the Army, days when I really didn't want to put my best foot forward or give 100% due to burnout. Fortunately I had a very wise senior Non-Commissioned Officer who had seen this before in many other leaders and he had the perfect solution.

He gace me a picture of a Soldier with the caption "What have you done for your Soldiers today?" and asked me to hang it in my office by the door. I took his advice and everytime I looked up and saw that picture and caption it motivated me to always give my very best because the Soldiers deserved it.

On a personal level I have taken pictures of items I want to own and placed them around my computer workspace in order to motivate me to continue to work on improving my IM business on those days when I just didn't have the passion.

Sometimes the little things are all you need without resorting to an accountability coach. I think having a coach or mentor is best reserved for isolating and identifying chokepoints in your business in order to resolve them so you can continue to increase your income.

    Respectfully,
    Tim

PS - During my time in the Army I gave out a few of those pictures with the same caption to a few of my junior leaders who needed that extra push to get the job done and it always worked.

Old lady here. Newish to online business, but rather successful in past career(s). Weighing in here about an "accountability" partner or coach with a bit of recent personal experience.

Make sure you and your "accountability" butt-kicker/friend/coach/whatever set up a few measureable goals and benchmarks Before you jump into e-mailing/IM'ing/Skype/whatever relationship. These goals need not be grand at the beginning. Set markers as simple as a couple of daily, weekly & monthly goals to which you are absolutely committed. The wishy-washy "want to" stuff doesn't float this kind of relationship.

Put a deadline on determining if this relationship is working (for the both of you). If, for example, in 3/4/6 wks. all that has happened is a bunch of nicey-nice exchanges with no further advancement toward the goals, you are both free to move along with no hard feelings. With this approach, it's possible to maintain a cool relationship that can be supportive in the future. Who knows when either of you may need some esoteric backlink love or a little boost of inspiration.

I'm still looking for a mutually supportive online business accountability "home". A few forays into this approach have been successful, but only for a very brief period each time. Sigh. But at the advanced age where I astoundingly find myself, I remain optimistic there are relationships that can further the online biz plan.

    Hi Tim

Yes a vision board is a great motivating tool. Your favorite car, your dream house or what ever it is you want - if you can see the picture of it, you will propel yourself forward just so you can get it faster.

I always say write down what you want and the time frame you realistically believe that you can achieve to reach the goal.

Writing down your plan is so important but implementing it is far harder if you do not consistently keep a check of where you are at. It's like any journey - you have to go at your own pace.

You must be the one who is accountable for your own actions. The only way to do this is follow your plan.

Seriously though, self discipline is a skill you need to develop if you want TRUE independence. I aint sayin it's easy...in fact, it's harder than the actual process of making money online full stop.

But when you can do it, it feels amazing, and it really does set you free...
