WordPress niche product - can you make the sales?

I'm a programmer-slash-geek, not a marketer. I'll be upfront and admit that right away.

I'm able to cobble together programs using twigs, spit and old 1's and 0's people leave lying around. I can speak geek, C#, PHP, Python and even some assembler. I've been known to leap tall buildings with a single bound too, but I really suck at marketing my products.

I've got a great little program I whipped up because I couldn't find something that worked just right for me when I was testing out some new plugins on WordPress. I got really tired of reinstalling Apache, MySQL and PHP, reinstalling WordPress on top of that, and even if I used some of the better products out there, I found I was still wasting a couple of hours getting things set up just right. So I created my own little application that runs a local installation of WordPress simply and with as little fuss as possible.

Now what I'd like to do, obviously, is sell it and make some extra cash off all the effort I put into it. But as I said before, I really suck at sales.

What I'd like to do is partner with someone who's already creating content related to WordPress (ebooks/videos/membership training sites) and get this product out to their members/lists in a way that's beneficial to everyone. People learning to use WordPress get a great tool to try out all they're learning from the info product creators, who also make a couple of dollars from sales that I benefit from. Win/Win/Win.

If you think you've got a great list, work in the WordPress niche and would like to offer your customers something they can use, please reply here or send me a PM.

Will.

PS. If you want to see how the software works, check out the video on the web site in my sig! 1 minute, 42 seconds from download to up and running with WordPress on your desktop!

This looks like a really useful tool. I'm gonna check it out. i'm sure one of these peeps will come along and help you eventually. Especially if you make it easy to export the "template" wordpress to the wild. People do this now I think by creating a "template" site on a cheap domain.

Thanks. I'm hoping it is going to be useful for someone out there. A lot of someones actually.

One of the options I'm working on at the moment is a user-friendly export function that will copy the local database, themes and plugins to a folder that's ready to import into a live installation. But this is still very much a work in progress, so not ready for inclusion into the package yet.

There's already something built in to WP that works, but it's not that intuitive to use for those new to WP.
