Heads up - early planning time:

Interested in lots of great, targeted networking, leads, clicks, subscribers, potential sales - and repeats of all the above? The place to be presenting your products and services is:

Yanik Silver's Underground Online Seminar 7

March 12 - 14, 2011 in Washington, D.C. (tentative dates)

Site (no affil) to watch for event updates: Welcome to Undeground 6 Online Seminar... Enter the secret code...

PM, email, call, chat or somehow reach out, as my team and I are helping Yanik this year. You've probably seen me at several of these, helping out in DC each year (dark hair, glasses - that librarian look), passing out handouts, welcome packets, etc. So give a shout if you're interested.

HINT:

Even if you will NOT be there or have a rep there, or even if you / your company may be a bit short on funds for a full sponsorship - - let me know if you are interested. My own company reaches out and has teamed up before successfully more than once (see notes in this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...etworking.html ) and may be interested in teaming up with you, too or helping find others to team up. PM, email, call, chat or somehow reach out, not just standing by ‘til Underground time rolls around once again, but being pro-active NOW

Thanks for consideration!

I need to ask an honest question:

Affiliate Summit West 11 was my first conference. It was awesome but I bought the cheapest pass just for networking ($240). I'm not interested in the majority of speakers because I am just there to meet a few key players and network.

Underground sounds like its top shelf out of all of the conferences but I could have easily gotten by without a pass at all to ASW because I didn't attend the events at all. So I'm considering not buying one and just coming down to hang out outside of Underground.

Could you justify why I should buy a $2300 ticket when I don't feel like I got a ton of value from the $240 ticket at ASW?

    Thanks!

      Hi,

I haven't been to Affiliate Summit West, but I have been to many other Internet marketing events, ones that's I have reaped a lot from over the years - above and beyond ticket costs. So not a pro, but I'll try to help with a reply.

A lot goes into events - lots of work, funds, scheduling, promotions, behind-the-scenes activities and more. And just dropping in isn't ethical or appreciated by some hosts - not all, but you want to be professional, bottom line. Of course if the host is a client or someone you know, etc., this may be different. (I sure don't want to even try to speak for all event hosts )

      Here's what I recommend:

Reach out to the event host. Hosts and their event staff / workers are often more than happy to help you with networking: before, during and after the events. Contact them and mention something as you did here, and see if maybe there are options for 1-day networking and / or other activities. Many of these events do actually have breakfast, lunch and / or dinner networking sessions before and after the event dates (or around them, like after-hours on workshop days) and other types of activities & sessions, too.

Let the host know what plans you would be interested in considering, your budget, who you'd like to meet, etc., and see if they can help get you a plan of action in place.

Of course other Warriors may have other tips, so stay tuned here for more, too!

      Hope that helps some

I'm going to put in my 2 cents here for whatever they're worth to you.

As Di said, a lot of folks who run these shindigs don't appreciate people
just popping in. There is a reason they have a price tag attached to
them, again as Di said...lots of planning. People don't realize what goes into
these because they've never done one themselves.

Walk a mile in their shoes and you'll understand.

As to why you should spend the money or how to justify it, nobody can
      do that but you.

A lot of the problems Internet marketers have is the 6 inches of real
      estate between their ears.

If you don't think you'll get value out of it, guess what? You won't.

Will you meet somebody there who will have a great impact on your
future success? Maybe, maybe not. As I've told people a million times,
there are no absolutes in this business.

But I can tell you this much, and I am speaking from experience. If you
do go to this or any similar event with the attitude of "show me I just
haven't thrown away my money" and the people there will avoid you
like the plague. Trust me, they pick up on the skepticism and have no
      time for it.

That's why when people ask me if my coaching is going to help them, I
tell them that if they have to ask, it probably isn't for them.

Attitude is everything in this business.

If I go to this or any of these events, I will go to them expecting to get
      great things out of it.

      But that's just me.

Bottom line: You have to do what you feel is right.

Nobody, not Di or myself, can answer that question for you.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear but it's the most honest
one that you're going to get here.

Attitude is everything in this business.
Very true indeed! In fact, my family has been to some Internet marketing events with me and even benefited from them. Hubby, our son and our son's best friend from high school - -all have joined me at various events and met Yanik, Willie Crawford and many others.

Now my fam members who came aren't into this web marketing arena at all, and were not attendees of the events (ie they weren't participants, they toured the cities on vacations while I was there at the events' sessions). However, they liked meeting marketers during breaks when they came to join me for lunch out on the towns, etc. And they benefited from the inspiration and networking they enjoyed with the marketers, too.

For example, Willie shared a wonderful inspiring message with my son and his friend who were then seniors in high school debating military careers and web futures. And Yanik, and his DC Underground that year was truly underground a couple levels at a hotel very near the White House, inspired the heck out of them BIG time! (If you know Yanik and his Underground events in DC, you'll know he does nothing small potatoes ie if he doesn't OVER-give, he doesn't give, it's that simple. )

        So yes, very much so:

Attitude is everything in this business.
Totally agree. And if you don't watch out, it's contagious and you (and others) will benefit more than you'll ever dream of - and then some! Can't put a price tag on that

    Yanik does everything first class.

Heck, I even got to sit around in the hallway with
Peter Graves (from the old Mission Impossible series)
who joked about making Tom Cruise possible :-)

The connections that you'll make there are unsurpassed.

I really enjoy reading everyone's comments and I need your advice because I have not been to one of these seminars before..

I will be attending Yanik's underground seminar for the 1st time and want to know how I can get the most out of the seminar because I am a newbie?

I would also would like to try to connect with any individuals via email who are going to the seminar to learn more about your business and say hello at the seminar...

Any of your advice would be appreciated as I am more of a newbie when it comes to this.

I look forward to connecting with any of you and please feel free to contact me here or directly via email as I am not sure the best way.

I look forward to hearing from you

      Hi Jeremy,

Hey, add me to your Facebook, Tweets, email, etc, and look me up! Hubby and I (and sometimes others) go there. For tips, here is a short list I wrote about awhile back....

      Nifty Networking Tips!

Networking may only be a small part of your business operations,
especially in the offline world. To make the most of it, here
are some nifty networking tips to try.

      Elevator Speech

Prepare a short presentation about yourself. Practice using ONE sentence to sum up what you do. At events where most are Internet marketers, you'll need more than, "Hi,I'm Joe Grow, an Internet marketer."

Instead, focus on your niche or specialty, or whatever you're trying to focus on most for growth at the time, "Hi, I'm Joe Grow, a jewelry wholesaler on Ebay."

      Roster / Schedule of Events

Print out the schedule of events and list of presenters ahead of
time. Get familiar with who's who, and see what you'd like to
focus on, what you'd like to learn and get out of the event. For
example, maybe there are a few presenters you'd like to network
with one-on-one, so you could try to contact them ahead of time
      to check their schedules.

      Industry Research

Do your homework before you go. Public libraries and the
Internet have hundreds of resources dedicated to your industry
news and business networking with loads of tips, etiquette,
speaking advice, etc. So search, study and put to use what you
      can.

      Tools

Be prepared and be a part, dont just take part. In other words,
      do take business cards, a note pad and pen. But also contribute;
take along some host/hostess gifts and a door prize to
      contribute for the event.
