First off, this isn't a blatent "pitch" to recruit other contributors... This is actually a post that will help you build your list fast if that is something you would like to do.
I'm not usually big on giveaway events because they get people all worked up and thinking that they are going to build a massive list overnight with no work... The truth is, most events don't work that way. They take time, effort, and a few referrals to get alot out of them.
That being said, there is an event that is going on right now that is shaping up to be the biggest event of the year. There are over 1,100 contributors already and the sites alexa ranking is under 30,000. What's so good about that?
The event hasn't even went live yet!
Reed Floren is known for throwing some big events, and this one is no different.
