Looking for marketers to JV - I manage the back end, you sell to offline biz
This is marketing to restaurant owners. The system is a cell-phone-friendly restaurant directory that it is tied to a particular hotel. We give the hotel free key cards and TV channel guides that have the website address for that hotel. The guests can use their cell-phones to browse restaurant menus.
I need JV marketers who can sell listings to the restaurant owners. We put their full menus online along with coupons, daily specials, etc. The benefit is that travellers can see their full menu and decide that they want to order a delivery or go to the restaurant. Also bars, gift shops, anything a tourist/traveller would like to see in a directory. Remember this is a cell-phone directory. It is fast and compliant with the latest mobile web standards so that it works with all of the common web-enabled phones. It is not designed to be pretty and flashy.
I have not settled on pricing, but my gut feel is that restaurants would pay up to $50/month to be in a few hundred hotel rooms. This all depends on the value they receive, so I am working on setting up view counters to show them what kind of traffic is hitting their menus.
The system is set up to scrape the restaurants from public directories, so this will sell best in the larger MSAs. Think 100k population and up. We scrape the basic listings and set up the directory so that the system is useful from the start. Otherwise it is a chicken and egg problem. So all the restaurants get a free listing and the paying restaurants get to put in menus, specials, coupons, etc. This is the same model as the Yellow Pages.
I think it can be sold with telemarketing, but may be easier to move with face-to-face sales. ...remains to be seen what works best.
I think a 50-50 split is a fair deal, but again it's what the market will bear, so subject to negotiation.
