WANTED: Strategy Expert for membership site

I have a membership site that does quite well.

But I also am giving everyone all of the content all at one time and I add stuff every month or so - webinars, videos, etc.

But, based on all of the content I have now - I think it's time for a new strategy...

I have also acquired the rights to a new DVD and a physical book.

What my thoughts are is to have a small digital front end purchase, then upgrade to a membership with a free physical gift and then maybe an upsell to a bigger package for members only.

I have a prospect list of about 10,000 that is growing daily and a member list of over 700.

But I am not a strategist on this and have been thinking about the best way to maximize my content value over time.

I would love to do a skype chat sometime next week with someone that has a similar setup and uses both digital and physical products in a membership type environment.

I have basically all next week - Monday thru Satuday at any time day or night.

Or - if you have ideas for this type of setup, please post them here.

My head is just too full of ideas at this point and I need some clarification of the process.

Thanks in advance and PM me if interested in chatting next week.

I would go with a free physical front end where they pay shipping only and have that tie them into a free period in your membership program. If they cancel then they don't get any new content but if they keep the membership then you can drip feed new content to them over time with a time release setup.

Most membership scripts can handle most of this, the only thing you would need is an integration with Kunaki for the front end product. I can work with you and get something set up for you on this.

      Johnny,

That sounds good for a start - so I give away a book or DVD, and when they get that they are signing up for a FREE TRIAL for the membership?

When do they begin paying me?

I pmed you - you can answer here or there. Thanks!

        Hello

I created many successful membership sites for my own business and for clients, the most successful strategy I follow is:

According to the price of the backend, I follow one of 2 models:

Model 1: for "average price" backend (i.e. the main offer is between $47-147"

-A free frontend to collect subscribers.
        -Onetime offer for the backend.
-Downsell for those who don't grab the oto (lite version for a lower price)
-Upsell for those who buy the oto.

Model 2: If the backend price is above $147,

-Dirty cheap front end (i.e. something like a $10-$20 small product)
        -OTO
        -Downsell
        -Upsell.

The 2 models are the same except for one thing, the front end.

The reason I use PAID fronend with higher priced backend products is the fact products at $150 or higher price list well perform better with a true buyers list instead of a freebie seekers list.

This is of course my own experience, maybe others experienced it differently.

Here is the setup I was describing:

Prospect visits page and sees offer for free physical product if they pay shipping only.

Prospect chooses to get product so goes to PayPal to pay the shipping cost.

The product is set up as a recurring billing product inside your membership script so they pay the shipping fee and are advised that they will have a recurring charge if they do not cancel before the regular billing takes over.

Product is set up with your normal billing cycle of say $10 every month with a 1 month trial of $5.95 (the trial is to pay the shipping cost for the physical product they will be getting.)

You have a Kunaki integration set up so that when they make that initial trial payment it triggers the Kunaki site to process the order there at the same time that your script is setting up your members account on your script. You can even have their billing information pulled from PayPal's IPN so that the customer doesn't have to fill out an order form for Kunaki.

This gives them the physical product and now has them tied into your membership site with an active recurring billing subscription. You can use a timed content delivery system to drip content to them over time so that while they are on the trial period they only have access to a small amount of information on your site. Then if they cancel their trial they will only have had access to the pre regular billing content and they do not get full access to everything in your site.

If they keep the subscription they you can have content drip released to them every 7 days, every 2 weeks, every month, or any possible conbination you can think of, depending on what membership software you are using for your site.

With the timed release content model every member will start out on the first section of content and new content will come available depending on how long they have been a member, so if you have it set to release new content every 30 days then someone who has been a member for 6 months would have 6 seperate content feeds and someone who just signed up last month would only have 1 content feed available to them.

There are several membership scripts that handle the timed release content quite well, although I am not sure how many have Kunaki integrated with them already. Both my VMS script and Steve Odette's RRP script can easily be customized to integrate with Kunaki as while they were in development at the beginning of the year we did have it integrated but decided to take it out before the scripts were released so that a slicker integration could be worked out. It wouldn't take much to add what we had before into either of those two scripts.
