It was a comparison based on price. I have nothing bad to say about Hummingbird, it's a good product. However not every small business owner can afford that price tag, and may not need the extra features anyway. If someone just wants to add some relevant followers to their accounts, it's worth paying 1/10th of the price to them.

Sorry, I missed your post. I did read that last part, and I'm sorry if I sounded angry, that's not the case at all. I get what you were saying.

As far as the suggestions go, thank you very much. I do want to add more selections for followers, in future versions as well as proxy support.

As far as the numbers thing, it's how it's returned by twitter, and I did have it so it converted the numbers back into usernames, but it slowed down the process significantly. When you follow someone else's followers, or who is following them, twitter uses that ID, and I made the decision to have it perform better. However, I do think I may add something in to show usernames, and advise customers that there is a large performance penalty for it.

Thank you for your suggestions and I'll definitely think about some of these additions to the software. It was written in C#.net BTW.

I tried this bad boy out last night. Just did a little bit on one of my new accounts. I now have 135 followers, and I'm following a little over 300!

I LOVE this software! It's so easy to use that even a techno phobe like me can use it. It doesn't have a bunch of 'learning curve' options; just does what I want it to do - helps me get more followers.

I immediately pm'd Jeremy, (you can see me telling him I'm pm'ing him above) and asked if he was going to have an affiliate option, as this should be DEAD EASY to sell. I was delighted when he said one is coming.

I honestly recommend this software for anyone that wants to build their twitter followers up, and want a simple solution that plainly WORKS! The hard part is not going overboard, because it's also fun to use.

But why not make a button to let the user choose between names or numbers
This way, people who do not care it just choose the numbers, wich is faster.
And people who prefer names instead of numbers just choose names wich is slower of course.

Another thing wich is absolutely important in my opinion, is the mass following and unfollowing.
This should be done randomly.
If you massfollow multiple people in one click that looks suspicious to Twitter, thus your account might be banned.

Don't be misled by the low price. It's solid well made software, and has some unique "must have" features. It does need .netframework3.5 but that microsoft update is easy, automatic, integrated into the install process and painless.

There are some good thin free programs out there that do similar, but those free programs admit they might not be updated for long, they have far fewer features and their interfaces are not as elegant as this program. Why risk that when this important program is well priced for now.

I agree 100%. In the new update I'm working on right now, I'm adding two new features:

* Proxy Support
* Random timer between adds

And the reason for that is, the proxy thing has been requested several times, and I think it's a very useful feature that won't distract from the simplicity. The random feature is just like you said, it makes it look more "human" by adding a second or two between adds here and there. I think this will help.

I haven't received a lot of feedback about people getting banned with this tool, but I think everyone is using it in a pretty smart way (not trying to do 5000 follows a day, etc) but I think it helps for the people who are using it very heavily.

I have one customer who has over 100 twitter accounts, and spends 5-6 hours a day following. I think these "hardcore" users might end up needing some kind of protection from getting banned, so I'll add a couple new features.

BTW (I know someone will ask): The next version will be a free upgrade for ALL twadder customers!

Are there concrete rules regarding how many you can follow in one day? I had a friend of mine get his account suspended for following around 400 people at one time using Refollow - Twitter relationship manager ; Any advice on avoiding suspension while aggressively building your list?

my advice would be to keep it under 500 at a time, and under 1000 a day. After you get 2,000 followers a ratio kicks in, so it helps control it.

Believe it or not, I think the best way to avoid getting banned is to control your content. Post meaningful, relevant stuff and make it as human and interesting as possible. Post "personal" stuff like how much your drive home sucks, and what you had for lunch.

Why? because the easiest way to get banned is to look like a spammer. If a lot of people block you as spam, this will get you flagged for abuse. Twitter seems to act on flagging a lot faster than how many people you follow. So if you look like a spammer, or your twitter is full of obvious marketing links, people are more likely to block or report you. If you look like a real human, they will either follow you, or choose not to.

So my best advice is to keep it within limits, and work hard to make your twitter looks like it's run by a human.

I thought the limit of people to follow is 2000 per account so how does this work with your software. I don't see how it is possible to get 2000 followers or more per account if you can only follow 2000 people or am I missing something.

It's not a limit at 2000, but a ratio that kicks in. Here is how it works, you follow 2000 people, and at that point twitter stops you from following more people, until they start following you. Once enough people follow you , say 1700 or 1800, then you can start following people again, and it will limit you.

As I said in my post above, if you only post links and spammy crap, people won't follow you, and it will become a hindrance. But if you post interesting stuff, and keep a good variety, they will.

Here are some good tips:

1. DO NOT use a camgirl, or 20 something girl posing sexy as your picture.
2. Don't just post links and "deals"
3. Don't put really busy backgrounds that are full of ads
4. Don't just post "follower chains" such as gary mccaffrey's stuff (its ok to join his group, just dont repost that over and over)
5. Don't post foul and offensive stuff

1. DO post valuable things that are relevant to your niche.
2. Do post a variety of links, not just ones to your own sites.
3. Do post quips, quotes and jokes
4. Do post personal stuff ("What's up with all these billboards on I-5?") that indicate you are a human


And you should do fine. Also, if you hit 2,000 and not enough people are following you, you can use a service such as huitter.com to unfollow people who aren't following you, and bring yourself back down to a place where you can start following people again, and maybe find people more likely to follow you back.

Thank you for your reply, so for setting up new accounts with your software have you found it best to add a few posts first before actually following people as a new twitter account with say 1 update doesn't give much idea for anyone to follow back. I would definitely reccomend adding a few posts. Here is one thing you can do.

As you create your multiple accounts, set up an account at tweetlater.com. Load up some posts to be spread out over a couple of days. At the end of those couple days, start adding people. This looks very authentic, and gets people interested faster.

btw tweetlater is a free service, with a few limitations but not bad.

I should also post here as a note:

If you put in the wrong password and re enter it too many times, a captcha screen comes up, and it loops several times over. I will be putting a "stop" button in to stop it from looping, but its best to make sure you have the right password entered. A typo will cause this, and because of the captcha it will loop over and over.

Sure, as pointed out by other buyers, they could no doubt be additional features, but at this price, I do not think anyone can have realistic grounds to complain. The bottom line is, it works superbly well (even with my steam driven net connection), and you really cannot ask any more than that...

WHAT TO DO IF TWITTER WONT FOLLOW PEOPLE

If you notice that your twitter account isn't following anymore,
this is happening for one of two reasons:

1. You have followed too many people that day

2. You have over 2000followers, and have a ratio applied.

Twitter recently implemented these restrictions, but there are ways
around it. If you have followed too many people that day, there isn't
much you can do. I am noticing a limit of around 1,000 people a day
that you can follow, especially with new accounts.

However, if you have over 2000 followers and have the ratio applied, here is what it means.

After 2,000 followers, twitter restricts a ratio. You can't follow any more people until people follow you. So if you are following 2,000 people, and only 20 of them are following you back, they will not allow you to follow back.

You can work on your content to make sure people follow you. Also, you can try messing with the search terms to see if it produces best results.

You have to get more people to follow you, before you can follow more people. If you are just spamming links, you won't get a lot of people following you.

Also, you can unfollow people who are not following you. The best place to do this is huitter.com. This service is free.

I will repeat this again:

If you are simply posting links, less people will follow you.

Make it interesting, personable and try to add value. This will get their attention, and make them want to follow you.

You should always obey the TOS of twitter, and not go over 1000 per day. The software does limit you to 1000 adds at one time, but you can bypass if it you want.

Twitter generally doesn't ban you for following agressively, rather it applies a limit. So for a space of time, usually 24 hours you can't continue to follow.

Sometimes the limit is a ratio, so if you unfollow you can then follow again.

This is true, after 2000 follows, you have a limit set, and unfollowing is the best way to get around it.

Another thing to note is, people can mark you as spam. If you post a lot of offensive stuff, or just pure links, the likelyhood of this happening is a lot greater, so be careful!

It took a couple weeks to get 2k, I too like to add them somewhat slow. About 400 adds a day or so is probably best. And yeah the 10% rule sounds about right.
