Or at least I thought it was free...

In reality it was costing me $700/month. That's like paying a subscription fee of $700 for a video service, or two car payments, or even renting out a very small studio here in Hawaii (cost of living is very expensive here in Hawaii). Take a look at these real-life numbers...

The landing page from the illustration above leaked 15,000 visits! That means, 15,000 people clicked from the landing page over to YouTube. Let's break it down even further. That landing page converts at 5%. The commission for each lead is $30.

If we do the math (.05 x 15,000 = 750, 750 x $30 = $22,500).

That's a loss of $22,500!

Personally I don't think is much of a problem at all. If your message and video quality is compelling enough, the only viewers you will lose are the ones who would have never bought anyway. In addition, having your video on youtube will return bonus viewers via the related videos on OTHER videos posted, so it all works out anyway.

I think its relative and could be a problem for people who are not savvy enough and need all the help they can get.

A good example is squeeze pages.

For some folks, even creating a simple squeeze page is a challenge so anything that helps them would be welcomed by those people

mipulating video for me is a task I outsource but would like to know more about. This solves something I've been thinking about for some time

I wish you were right, but that is simply NOT TRUE.

You have no clue until you actually do some split testing for yourself. We are talking tens of thousands of dollars lost here. Collectively over the IM community, millions.

I KNOW FIRST HAND the effects that having a clickable video on your sales page can have on your sales. It's a HUGE traffic, and MONEY LEAK. Plain and simple it was losing me a lot of money.

You have obviously not bought my product if you're making statements like that. The videos are STILL hosted on youtube. Thanks for your concern, however, the methods contained within my wso have been authorized by YouTube. The method is simply using the youtube api.

As for the terms of service, you are misinterpreting them. They are basically saying you can't sell access to using their website (youtube.com), or sell access to using their player. For example, I can't charge someone $5 a month to access youtube.com or to use their player.

My WSO has NOTHING to do with that.

As for the commercial part, its ok to have commercial type videos. Read the terms again, and make sure you read section E. It states:

Prohibited commercial uses do not include:

• uploading an original video to YouTube, or maintaining an original channel on YouTube, to promote your business or artistic enterprise;

Hi Jean-Marc,

It's not a simple plugin, but rather a simple copy and paste of html. It's fairly simple to do, and it's a whole lot cleaner than the regular youtube videos that you are using right now.

To answer your questions, yes youtube is ok with the usage of this very special player.

In fact they created a special API specifically for this:

Chromeless Player

Interface elements and controls around content is sometimes referred to as "chrome" (e.g. the browser buttons on the top of a webpage.) The chromeless player is, by definition, a YouTube video with no controls. This makes it easy to customize within Flash or HTML.


The chromeless player exposes the same JavaScript and ActionScript APIs that the embedded player does. There is a working example of the chromeless player using JavaScript and some simple HTML controls.

Thank you for noticing. I have been studying copywriting, nlp, and a few other ninja methodologies for a few years now. It really helps when it comes to selling, you know, getting in the minds of the customer. The Hawaii stuff, well that's apart of the ninja methodologies.

No, just youtube.

On Vimeo and viddler, commercial videos are "not allowed". Youtube allows it.

I've never really used it with wordpress, but one work around I can tell you is to use an iframe, thats if wordpress allows iframes.

Interesting. I've never clicked the video & ended up on Youtube before. But when embedding any Youtube videos on my sites, I always remove the related videos.

Another very important thing to realize is that anyone can get your Youtube videos banned for no reason other than they want you out of the way as competition (I had someone do it to me & brag about it). Bottom line is, you can't put all your eggs in the YT (or any) basket or you might find your business gone on a whim. Plus now YT is putting ads in many videos to distract your visitors even more. Even so, YT is good for traffic to get the ball rolling on new videos of product/services you're promoting.

Your WSO does sound good if you can use YT videos & click over to your OWN site. I think I'll pick it up.
