Hey Francis,

I just checked out a couple of the videos... and its unfortunate that there is such bad audio. I may take a chance on it and see if I can clean up that buzz using noise removal via audacity or sony sound forge but I am not too optimistic because the audio quality degrades when you remove too much noise and the noise is pretty significant.

I bet you were pretty disappointed when you realized you had that problem with such great content.

Will you consider remaking the entire series at a later date but this time using a better setup that does not have the audio buzz issue and providing the update to your purchasers of the PLR?

PLR is $47, and AVI is included.

Most people are happy with the videos and I was told by others that the audio quality is of average quality and nothing to worry about.

Nonetheless, I am planning on editing the videos to ensure top quality.

Well the first and easiest thing to do is find out the following:

Did you record it by plugging a jack connected to a microphone or headset directly into your computers sound card input?

If yes, then the solution would be to never do that again...

Instead buy either a usb based headset or microphone.... or simply buy an iMic and plug your mic into that and then plug the usb end of the imic into your computer.

Generally that will eliminate those problems.

You may also consider just removing the old audio and doing new audio voice over for your master files.

The people who told you that are full of &%#% and likely don't have much experience selling media content online. Its not average... its a really bad loud buzz. There is no such thing as "average audio" with buzz in it. Bad audio is bad audio and unfortunately audio is the most important part of this type video. There is no way that professionals could distribute this and expect not to leave a bad impression on their clients because of the audio problem.

I am not trying to be overly critical but if you really believe that I dare you to post a sample with that loud buzz here for everyone to listen to and give you real qualified opinions on... its awful and almost unbearable to listen to.

The tips above should help you out.

Thanks for the tip. I did plug the microphone jack directly into my computer sound card input.

I'll go out and buy a usb headset tonight and start rerecording these videos.

A couple more tips to boost your audio quality...

1. Test your recording first.
2. Position the mic a little above your mouth out of the breath wind zone to avoid poping hard "t" "p" and "s" sounds. Remember you are trying to get it to sound as close to being in the same room as the listener as possible.
3. Make sure the audio input level of your recording is not too loud and not too quiet. Too loud can cause distortion and peaks that distort which can be as annoying as buzz. A good rule of thumb is that if your voice is audible and comfortable to listen to with your volume at 33% then you have a pretty good level.

Hmmm... I am now using a usb based headset and there is still that background buzz, so its not the headset thats the problem.

I think I'll just record new voice audio and remove the background noise through Audacity. I can't believe I never knew about Audacity until now.

That sounds like a ground loop problem.

You can read about what it is and how to deal with it here:

Ground loop problems and how to get rid of them

Audacity and the noise removal is great.

You may try lowering the input volume when making your recordings so that the buzz is less pronounced before you do the noise removal.

I also suggest an external usb sound card like the iMic... it would allow you to plug your mic into it and then it plugs in with usb. That may help eliminate the issue as well but try and see if you can solve the ground loop problem first.

Thanks Steve, I've actually just finished removing the background noise from all videos using Audacity.

There is one more thing I want to do though before I upload them to my site. I want to redo the voiceover for a couple of the videos because of their popping "t" and "p"' sounds.

Hopefully I can get this done in the next day or so. It's just tough to get things done when you have a newborn baby (whom I dearly love!) who needs all your attention.

I'll put a post up here when I've uploaded the new videos.

You're welcome Robyn. It's hard not to profit from these videos because even if you don't plan on reselling them, you can use them to drive free traffic to your site.

Of course, there are a lot of other things you can do with these videos, you are only limited by your imagination.
