Default Build a Local Portal For Free with Joomla. Only $5

Hey Warriors,

Thank you for checking out my WSO.

I know I'm suppossed to do a sales pitch here, but it's just not me. I'm not a writer or a sales person so I'll just tell you what I am offering.

This report is basically a beginners guide for Joomla. The focus is on building a local portal becuse that is what I first used Joomla for. You can see my site here.

The report is meant for people who are new to building websites or using Joomla.
It is pretty basic info that most advanced warriors will already know.

I am self taught and believe if I can learn it anyone can. The report should cut many hours off of the Joomla learning curve.

Once you learn the basics of Joomla you can build professional looking sites without a lot of technical knowledge.

Here is what is covered in the report:

  • Introduction (Covers extensions, global configuration and changing permissions)
  • Installing Extensions
  • Components Configuration
  • Link it to the menu
  • Adding Content
  • A little about modules
  • Templates
  • Recommended components and modules
  • Other useful resources

I am also including a text file with the categories I use for my business directory here.
If you would like a similar directory structure it will save you a lot of time setting it up.
The categories are formated so you can just copy and paste into sobi2.

For added value I have also included a support email address at the end of the report.
I will do my best to answer any questions you may have.

This is the first report I have ever created and is only available here.

Click here to get your copy for only $5

Personal use only.

Refund request will be honored for 72 hours only because any money I make is really needed right now and will be transferred out of paypal every few days.

Thanks for viewing and please let me know if you have any questions.

Joel,

That's a great offer. There are various companies online that offer special hosting for city directories. I used to run a local site when I lived in Oklahoma City. I paid, and many others as well, $50 per month for all the features. Sure wish I had seen your offer then. It would have saved me a ton of money. Local advertising is great, too. I found it easy to target local keywords which gave me more exposure online.

Hi Rhonda,

Thanks, I hope it is a good offer and detailed enough to help people build some nice sites.
I recommend joomla to anyone who is new to site building. I have learned a lot by using it.

I looked at some of the hosted solutions. Some of them also get a percent of your ad revenue.
If you could sell enough ads it would probably be worth it have someone to fix problems and keep the script up to date.

Does this cover everything to make a site like your one?
Are there any other expenses involved in making a site like your one?

Hi Joel,

I think your report would be perfect for my "Instant Internet Consultant" students.

Tell you what...

If you'd be willing to give me rights to give your report as a bonus to my students, I'll give you FREE access to the entire online workshop.

You can get details about the workshop here:

Instant Internet Consultant

The entire workshop was recorded. I just need to update the salesletter to reflect that it is a recorded course (rather than a live course).

Let me know if you're interested.
:-)

Hi Joel,

My first Joomla city portal site has long since been built, but I bought your report anyway to see if you might have some fresh insights for me.

I have only skimmed through it, but it seems to offer pretty comprehensive information for anyone wondering where to start.

One recommendation I would make is to use 1.5 even if some of the extensions you would like to use are not yet available for 1.5. Otherwise you will eventually end up with an outdated site where the old extensions are no longer supported, and the newer ones will not be available to you.

Dave

Hi SpuDS,

The report is based on my site and the extensions used. It is not however a step by step guide to build a site exactly like mine but more of a basic guide to using joomla. After reading the report I think almost anyone could build a site similar to mine. I give links to all of the extensions I use plus a few more. If you plan to build a site like mine I should be able to answer any questions you will have once you get started.

The only expenses I have are hosting and the domain. All of the extensions I use are Free.

Thanks, Joel

Hi Dave,

Thanks for purchasing.

I agree 1.5 is the way to go. I do mention in the report that I would use it for a new site.
I also plan to convert my site eventually.

Although the report is based on using 1.0.15, I have installed 1.5 on another domain and I think anyone who reads the report should be able to use 1.5. I can't see much difference in the admin section, but I probably should have put more in the report about 1.5. I'll look into updating it.

Very well written, Joel. I have been wanting to make a city portal site for several years, and now I see a way to get it done. I am an experienced site builder and I still learned very much about Joomla that will save me time.

Thanks Alton,

I really appreciate that and I'm glad it was helpful.

I don't think I write very well but I do believe I'm pretty good at explaining things.

Thank you Joel.

I must say for the price you are selling this information for is way to LOW, this information is worth lot more then that and is absolutely brilliant with step by step approach.

Just what i was looking for, i started creating 'Portal sites' with joomla few months ago but did not have all the extensions needed to complete but now i can thanks to you.

All the best
