Hey AussieT,

It could be a recurring fee service if you charged a small monthly fee for monitoring/maintenance. However, it's much more valuable as a low-cost, one-off "foot-in-the-door" type service.

If they get even moderate results after the full submission, there is a VERY good possibility they will begin to see the BIG picture and express interest in more advanced marketing services.

It also gives you an opportunity to begin building an on-going relationship with your new client; as you should begin following up at least every two weeks or so by phone/postal mail after the service. They should also be added to your "marketing tips" email list so you can begin educating them about the benefits of your other services.

Hi CG,

Actual submission time averages 4 to 6 hours for approximately 53 local search engines, yellow pages and business directories. This is a high estimate. With outsourcing, this does not cut into your own time.

This can be run from two different models...

1. Gathering the information from the client via a consulting session; which is the best way to do it, because it gives you the opportunity to assess the need for additional services.

2. Having the client complete an online form and processing payment online. You could still to a needs assessment during a follow up with the client. You would also present additional service information on your consulting site.

I include a suggested pricing range in the report. I reside in the Atlanta area, so my pricing will generally be different from someone residing in rural Wisconsin or Los Angeles.

Some "bricks-and-mortar" business owners are aware of the impact of local search, many are are not. Once they are properly educated, they gain a greater understanding. I try to do as little "selling" as possible and let them "purchase" based on their understanding after being educated.

It is for this reason I have added the Local Search White Paper to this WSO. It educates business owners about the trends in local search and provides them with factual and beneficial buying points.
