This seems like a lot of extra work. Find keywords with another tool then Import a CSV then export a CSV. And what do you use to determine the competition? I realize this is "free". But there are a lot of factors that go into determining who your competition really is. Care to share your own unique formula for determining what is competition with your software? |

"This seems like a lot of extra work. Find keywords with another tool then Import a CSV then export a CSV." Isn't it a lot less work than copy + pasting 200 keywords from your list into Google and checking how many results there are? It's a tremendous time saver... It's a simple, free software that does what it's supposed to do. I know it's not the best out there but it's FREE and with your help and the help of others, I would be glad to add any kind of updates you like! By finding which keywords have low competing web pages (what this software is meant to do), you know where to focus your efforts. Now obviously, just because there are low competing web pages for a keyword doesn't mean you will hop up to number 1, but you will have a MUCH greater chance of getting ranked well. For reference, I can get articles ranked on page 1 all day long by simply writing articles around keywords that have low competing web pages. "And what do you use to determine the competition?" The software tells you # of competing web pages for the keyword/keyword phrases on your list. The fact is that a LARGE percentage of those results aren't even optimized for the keyword/keyword phrase you're searching. To see what I'm talking about:
By the way, with the software you can use all of Google's search functions like phrase match, exact match, broad match, allintitle, etc. Really convenient. "I realize this is "free". But there are a lot of factors that go into determining who your competition really is." I'm a little confused on this one? You're not determining who your competition is with this software...you're finding keywords that HAVE low competition already that you can act on immediately by creating content around OR research further to see your likeliness of reaching say, a number 1 spot. Like I said before, you can copy and paste each keyword you want to check into Google OR you can use this software to shortcut the process so you don't waste time researching keywords that have TREMENDOUS competition and would be a ton of work to rank for. Hope that made sense? "Care to share your own unique formula for determining what is competition with your software?" You beat me to it! ![]() I use this software for article marketing keyword research and will create a new post showing you exactly how I use it to generate traffic. Thanks! Chris

Hi Venu, If you made it through the steps on the download page successfully, there should be no msflxgrd.ocx error. Just to make sure. 1. You put the Msflxgrd.ocx file in the "systems32" folder? 2. You opened the run field and input "regsvr32 \windows\system32\Msflxgrd.ocx" then clicked go? 3. You got a success message after step 2? Let me know :-) I will get up a video for install for XP users tomorrow and send you a link to the video if we can't get it figured out by then.. Thanks, Chris |

Well, if possible I'd like to drill down and for each of the top 10 results, find the PR of the page and how many backlinks the page has, and then what those backlinks are. Doing this all in one place would really rock.

I am thinking firstly, a filter of sorts so that you can take the keywords out of the list that are out of your desired competition range directly in the software. Then proceed to a second step that allows you to process the PR and backlink information for the top 10 sites for each of those keywords. Sound good? Or did you have something else in mind? Thanks for the input! Chris

Hi Chris, this looks interesting. Just a couple of questions... Does it check the competition as "broad match" or as "phrase match"... or can you choose which way to view the competition? What is the reason the software provides 1 URL? Is it the top ranking site for that keyword? |

Thanks for your question. It can check phrase, broad, exact, etc. To do so you simply import the keywords into the tool with the appropriate tags. Broad match - keyword Phrase match - "keyword" Exact Match - [keyword] Google's keyword tool allows you to select match type and export your keywords with the appropriate tags so you're not stuck putting quotes in manually (or using excel to apply the tags to the list). Just import the list into the software are you're good to check the respective match type. I will be adding the ability to select match type within the software soon, as I feel that'd be a nice, convenient addition. The URL the software provides is actually just a link to the search. So that way after you've found some possible keywords to check out, you can have a gander at the actual sites, etc. that are showing up as top results for that search. Hope that answered your questions ![]() Please enjoy, and if you have any feature requests please let me know! Thanks, Chris

Well, I got the software running now. But I am not sure how to use it. I have a few keyword lists in excel sheets, so do I just open these excel sheets with the software or do i put in the keywords one by one. regards, faraz |

In the original post video, you can see me inputting a .csv file that was generated from Google's free external keyword tool. If you already have a few lists that are not from Google's tool or are not in .csv format... 1. Open them up in excel and make sure that only the first column is populated with your keyword list. Keep in mind that the software ignores the very first row as that is usually held for column titles. 2. Click "Save As" and when the window prompts you for your install location write the file name and change the file type to "CSV Comma Delimited" in the drop down below file name. 3. Just open up the software, go to File---> open and browse to the .csv file you just created. No need to type them in one at a time ![]() Hope that helps... Thanks! Chris

Hi Chris, There's a problem... I want to do phrase match competition analysis BUT... When I create csv file with quotes around phrase (for phrase match), it puts EXTRA quotes around the phrase... and your tool says it's an unrecognizable format. On the other hand, when I save file as csv without first putting quotes around each phrase and then import into your tool... it does broad match instead of phrase match. HOW do I do phrase match with your tool without typing entire list into it by hand? Quote:

You kinda lost me about the EXTRA quotes... What are you using to "create" a .csv with quotes around the phrase. And at which point are the extras being put on? I use googles free keyword tool to download a .csv where every phrase has quotes (just select phrase match on the google keyword tool before adding to the list and downloading) and it imports just fine without any sort of "extra" quotes... Whatever is in that first column is what will be searched. So if the first column looks like: keyword - broad match "keyword" - phrase match [keyword] - exact match Here's a screenshot of what I mean... ![]() Hope that helped? Let me know if there is anything else I can try and help with. Thanks, Chris

Thanks Chris. I'll try that. I had been building a list in excel. When I exported the keywords into a csv file and loaded into your tool, there would be no quotes. However, when I added quotes around the phrases in excel, then exported as a csv file and uploaded into your tool, it had double quotes around the phrases (the quotes I manually added, and the quotes added by the csv file). I'll try it the way you described and see if that solves the problem. However, I'd like to find a way around the problem when using anything other than google's keyword tool to create the csv file. |

Hi Chris, I've tested your tool out several ways. Here are the results... => When I type the keywords directly into your tool, everything runs right. => When I save the csv list of phrase match keywords from the google keyword and open into your tool, and start to run your software, I get this error message: Run-time error '-2147012892 (80072ee4)': An internal error occurred in the Microsoft Windows HTTP Services => When I create a list of broad match in excel and export as csv file, then import into your tool, here's what happens: - the top keyword is missing from the imported list - the tool gets the google url for the first keyword shown in your tool... and that's it... it just sits there but not doing anything. This is all the testing I had time for. I love the concept of your tool, but there are some bugs that need to be worked out. :-) |
