Butting in here, but hoping to be helpful.
Is your ReviewAzon homepage post actually posting only a partial excerpt, or the full thing. If it's posting the entire excerpt then you need to go to ReviewAzon's Advanced settings; then the second item down "Show excerpts on the following pages:" and uncheck "Frontpage" or "Homepage" (or maybe both- whatever works). You may also have to go to "Text Options" (a tab at the top of ReviewAzons Advanced Settings page) and shorten this value "Truncate post excerpt after XXX characters." Hope I helped. |

Hi all.
As I've said, I've not used ReviewAZON because of the lack of developer license, but so many people have been asking about it's compatibility with the theme that 'I don't see why it shouldn't work' didn't seem good enough, so I bought it today to make sure it worked. Naturally, it didn't ![]() Not out of the box, anyway. Four minor edits to the Abundance theme files and it was a different story... Software Reviewed This site is still a bit ropey because it was put together in a hurry just to test ReviewAZON, but it also shows PHPBay working with the theme (The 'Software Auctions' tab in the navigation bar), and TubePress ('Videos'). The auctions listed in the lower banner area towards the bottom of the page are displayed via the ReviewAZON eBay auctions plugin. For ReviewAZON to work with the theme... In the three places that it appears in home.php, the_excerpt needs to be changed to the_content, and the same again in the the only place the_excerpt appears in archive.php. This is because to display excerpts, ReviewAZON uses a truncated form of the_content instead of using the_excerpt for some reason. Adding any kind of parameters to the_content so that it will produce truncated content when non-ReviewAZON content is posted causes ReviewAZON not to work again, which means for ReviewAZON to work in conjuction with other content on the front page, you'd see excerpts for ReviewAZON content but the whole post would be displayed if the content was produced by anything else. It would be a bit of a mess to say the least. So... if you want to show ReviewAZON posts on the home page and in archives, you'd just change the_excerpt to the_content. Since ordinary content isn't truncated by the ReviewAZON plugin, it will be displayed full length in the archives where ReviewAZON posts wouldn't. Like this... Articles | Software Reviewed However, if you were to put your 'normal' posts into a category and put it in the 'blog' page template (we didn't edit this particular theme file, remember) it would show as a list of excerpts... Articles | Software Reviewed I could sleep standing up on a washing line right now, but after taking care of a couple of other things that are screaming at me from the 'to-do' list, I will edit the user guide to include this info tomorrow. Unlike everything else you can do with the theme, you'll need to edit the theme files just a little to get it to work properly with ReviewAZON, but the theme and the plugin will work together. There's more than one way to skin a cat though - grateful thanks to leesr for his contribution. I don't think I'm familiar enough yet with ReviewAZON to have even scratched the surface of what it can do. Regarding refunds, as with pretty much all WordPress themes and even the ReviewAZON plugin itself, all sales are final. If there's a problem with the theme itself, then as a user I'll want to know about it and will fix it at the earliest opportunity. |

On your ReviewAzon demo site given above,
on the Product Post pages, below the "Order Now" button, The tabded window with the labels "Description", "Additional Details", "Customer Reviews"... is that something that is built into the Abundance theme-- or something that you tweaked in for this site? |

Hi again, LeeSr
The tabbed window is a feature of the ReviewAZON plugin - at least, it's what I got by setting the 'Default Template Group' to 'Tabs' in the ReviewAZON plugin's 'Advanced Settings' screen. I'd actually forgotten I'd done that while exploring the plugin's capabilities yesterday, so in the latest of the 'Quickly Cobbled Together For Demonstration Purposes' series, here's a site with the Abundance theme having had just the four theme file edits I mentioned, and ReviewAZON straight from the box... Business Bookshelves I've used a few ReviewAZON widgets in the sidebar this time, but the plugin's settings are unaltered. As the violent-looking green links everywhere might indicate, I have not edited the plugin's stylesheet and the site isn't displaying the results of a plugin configuration that I'd forgotten I'd been fiddling with, so hopefully it's a bit more clear what's what

Thank you Diana and LeeSr for your input.
Well Diana, you sure can throw a site together and make it look good! Thanks for checking out the ReveiwAZON plugin. So, am I understanding correctly that we have to make the changes you said to the Abundance theme and not the plugin templates? And after we make the changes we will have to make the articles pages and the ReveiwAZON entries posts? Also, did you mean to say that you will be writing up how to use ReveiwAZON with your theme? That would be awesome if you did that. Thanks for your help! |

The changes do have to be made to the Abundance theme files and not to the plugin files. I have just sent out an updated user guide which more or less says what I have said here, only with illustrations. You really don't have to change a lot though, four words or so. Also gone out to buyers is an updated copy of the theme, which fixes a couple of CSS issues seen via Mac or IE. I just wanted to say 'Massive thanks' to tomw and Newton for pointing them out to me. I will update the demo sites with the new version in the morning. It is 3.30am here now and zzzzzzz....

Can we change the width of the sites to suit our needs? Can the sidebars be created in a different color than the rest of the site? I'm looking to create WP blogs that look like ugly old html sites as they may get higher CTR (I hope).
Thanks |

Got it today. Glad to see that the user manual is under 40 pages, not the hundreds of pages like the other leading leading magazine themes are.

Hey Diane,
Brad Hanson here from reviewazon.com. Please let me know if you need any help getting some questions answered about getting ReviewAZON to work with your theme. I'll be glad to help any way I can in terms of getting you the answers you need. Best, Brad |

The width is fixed, and the sidebars can't be a different colour at the present time. You can make the theme look plain enough, although I have never (deliberately!) aimed for dog ugly. I shall have to give that one a try ![]() Sorry for not being around for a couple of days. There were a couple of things wrong with my computer which I'd been studiously ignoring as they got worse, but the morning when it sounded like an idling tractor and I got complaints that it could be heard at at the other end of the house alarmed even me. It turned out to be a cream-crackered fan - this and the other issues are sorted now, and me and the 'puter are both back and flying

I'm glad you were pleased with the user guide. To be honest, I can't remember using another magazine theme which actually came with one - any kind of guidance always came via a password protected forum, which is all very well if you are going to be the only one using the theme but not so good if you can't pass the access along to your site buyers. I can't think of an objection to theme buyers giving their own site buyers a copy of the manual where the theme is installed if it makes life easier.
