When i originally read about this i thought "what a good idea, someones brought out a cheap way to autopilot downloads" and i thought where the catch?

and thankfully someone asked the right questions.

while i understand the need to get maximum return back for your investment OMI i think that you will put people off using the product for the strict licensing you are asking people to abide by.

just my thoughts but if you relaxed them so that people could sell a website with the ipp delivery system without making the new owners buy a license, more people i feel would use it.

Also you could simply let them use that version they have free or offer them the updated versions for a price.

you have NEARLY come up with an ideal product, if it was less restrictive i think you could see a very good return on this. As it is you risk someone bringing out something similar with less restrictions and taking over your sales if you know what i mean.

Its a good idea though and one i will be buying into if the restrictions are eased a little.

Well, there's not really a "catch" and I don't see a licensing difference with other types of software like IPP. RAP cannot be included in a website sale, but you can use it on all of your own websites. Amember is restricted to a single domain name per license. The DLG license allows you to install it on 2 websites.

The IPP license allows unlimited installs on your own websites, which I felt was very generous. But I can't just let people use it unrestricted. For example, someone could "say" they sold a website and included IPP, but they really just built a website and installed IPP for their customer, leaving me out of the sale and their customer with an illegal license.

IPP is new and things like this are handled when they come up, like I did with the question above about reselling it if you flip websites. I don't mind allowing special licenses for certain people, but I also don't want to lose money or devalue IPP either. Maybe in the long run, I'll open it up to reselling or other licensing options.

I'm further developing IPP (all updates will be free) and am already testing some very cool features that no other software (that I know of) currently has. These features are things that I've always wanted in a software to make selling easier and more functional.

you could retain the ipp website details in the script and when someone buys a website that uses ipp they will know where it came from but forcing them to buy a new license like amember and rap does is the down side.

this is what i meant with my first email if you were to relax the licensing a little and do something that no other payment system does then imagine the thousands of people who would use it and buy into such a product.

i know you cant please everyone all the time but the more pople that know about ipp i think the more popular it would become and that would translate into better sales.

WARNING: ive found a big security flaw in this, anyone who bought it needs to email William, ive just contacted him with details on how to fix the flaw. Read below for details...

The software was delivered instantly and i liked the interface,
Set up took a very short time, the manual was very good (up to a point - see below), i think i had everything configured in about 35 mins and i tested it myself and im very impressed. William has developed a nice little script which is handy for most IM's out there. If you have more than one product it might be a bit harder to setup for the beginner but theres ways around this.

Now i had installed and tested the software/script i checked for security issues - something i do with every script i install from vbulletin to ipp. I have found quite a serious flaw that *COULD* mean anyone who uses this script losing sales. For obvious reasons im not going to elaborate on this because i dont want anyone losing anything. I have emailed William with a working fix (tested myself) and im sure he will let all his genuine customers know how to fix.

That said its VERY easy to plug the security hole and would prolly take 5 mins if that. Email William for more details.

Back onto the manual now, it was well made up to the point where everything had been set up and then it stopped short of showing you how to edit templates. i feel some people might get stuck on this part and it might overburden Williams support so it is worth doing a full guide helping newbies through this part of the install.

The downsides:

limited to dollars only
cannot rename the script folder (correct if wrong)
manual cuts short

The upsides:

No need to be alarmed. You'd need to know the inner-workings of IPP to understand what this is about, but here's the "flaw".

With any script that allows downloads, the files that are purchased need to be placed somewhere on your server/hosting account for the buyer to download. If the files are placed in a folder that can easily be guessed (like download or files), then it could makes it easier for those that want to try and download your product(s) without paying. Of course, the person trying to do this would also need to know the exact name of the file to download within the folder.

With IPP, you have the ability to name the download folder where you place your files to be downloaded so no one can type in that folder name in a browser and directly download your file(s) without paying. Also, there is an index file that is in the folder that will display instead of listing the files within the folder, like some servers do.

This would make a great script if you could have multiple accounts/products from within one place. Even just multiple products on one domain would also be fine.

I got this for the main reason to flip sites but no longer using it as to flip a site and then tell the new owner to pay another $40-$60 is not going to help you sales except Williams pocket as we don't get nothing out of it. He is flipping sites this way which works for him but then I might as well stick to the old fashion way of setting it up using paypal

Because this is a personal script, I don't think it's necessary to hide the password. Personally, I don't like it when software does this.

4: Ability to flip a site without having to buy new license, a requirement could be we ask the new owner to contact you directly. This is the only stumbling block i feel pulls your product back from mega sales.

I've "seen the light" and changed the license to include IPP in websites you sell.

5: When you update the manual it might be worth noting that cosmetically you only have to change the Order_Thankyou page, thats all ive done and it looks ok.

I'm currently adding all of the new features to the IPP manual.

I'll update the thread when these updates are complete.

Hi Dreams,

It is similar to DLG, but IPP does not have a built in shopping cart. It can, however, integrate into any website, including Wordpress blogs.

IPP was designed to sell a single product (that can include several files like bonuses) and then upsell to your customer using a one time offer (OTO).

DLG is an excellent script with many more features than IPP, but is also more expensive. So, ask yourself what features do you really need, then you can decide which script will work best for you.

I'm always open to suggestions in making IPP better and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

One of the biggest problems with downloadable products is that often people who buy them upload a version to the net that all and sundry can get access to.

Does your software cater for this issue?

Unfortunately, your scenario is almost impossible to avoid with any software. As soon as software is purchased, it can be freely distributed. But, IPP does protect your product from being downloaded unless paid for.

IPP allows you to name the folder where you store your files to be downloaded to anything you want, so it's less likely to be guessed.

By default, IPP includes folder protection, but you can further protect the folder by adding "no indexing" at the root level of your hosting account. If you use a hosting control panel such as CPanel, it's very easy to do.
