Just a little heads-up - there ARE some issues if you live outside the US.

You'll need to fill in a tax form, send it to the US, wait for then send the resulting reply to Amazon. According to their email:

"Titles cannot be sold without this information and the required documents on file."

The biggest headache for me is it means getting a 'notarized' copy of my passport, which I did once before and meant travelling to London, spending all day and paying through the nose for a rubber stamp.

As I'm currently living in Malaysia that's not a practical option, so no use for me I'm afraid.

Asides from that it's a useful little report. If you're in the US and stumped for ideas, give it a try.

Notwithstanding the previous post about needing to send docs (and being from the UK it is relavant) the wso is a breath of fresh air.

I've read the pdf and not seen the video's yet. I totally agree that jschop could have maybe done more of a step by step guide element, a bit more niche analysis, case study, table of contents, fancy cover, proof of earnings etc but then I'd fully expect her to be pricing it at $97-$197.

She gives enough information to point you in the right direction and if you're over 8 years old you can find enough profitale ideas. Actually I think a 5 year old could come up with some!

I've thought of at least 4 or 5 twists/add on's in the 5 mins since I've read it.

Plus this is something that means you'll be able to explain online earnings to your family and friends and they'll understand, actually show some respect for you and you won't be worried they'll find out that you've been trying to sell acai berries or penis enlargment ebooks as an affilaite (or you can use it as a cover so you don't have to tell them that that's actually where a chunk of your income comes from)!

I can't comment on the sales quoted. A lot of WSO's are good/ok in theory but the actual market isn't as responceive or willing to buy as the seller makes out.

Saying that, selling the quanities suggested isn't a strech of the imagination- at least one other person has said that they do similar numbers... and Amazon sell a ton of books everyday from their warehouse alone (I worked for Amazon in the UK for a while after finishing Uni).

I have a question. Someone on here mentioned templates, and I wondered what sort of templates they are. I purchased another wso recently that had templates created in Word (with macros) and I was unable to open them due to my older version of Word (2000.) I really am not prepared to upgrade Word right now, and would hate to buy another wso that I would be unable to use as intended.

I think that this is the only question (at the moment) holding me back from purchasing. I am VERY interested in this!

I don't have the Paypal option available right now, because most people weren't being re-directed to the download area after payment, and I'm trying to work out the kinks with Paypal. Sorry about that, but it should be up again soon.

You know, backgrounds, layers, adding text, what the tools do. I don't want something massive, just to get me going. I can always learn more later. What's a good introduction to Photoshop? I'm not scared of it, just am looking for the best book/infoproduct/videos to get me started.

And, can I use Photoshop Elements ($89), not the full honkin Photoshop CS4 ($586)? I heard that book cover designers have to use the full version to get access to high resolution for the best print quality.

Just want to clear up some of the tax issues.

If you live outside the US, you can sell on Amazon without filling out anything or sending in any forms, but you will have 30% of your royalties withheld for taxes. However, you won't have to pay tax on that income to your own government.

I live in the US, but from what I've read on UK and Australian tax rates, they range from 10%-40%, so you'll be making it out ahead if you make a good living and pay high tax rates.

Paypal is redirecting correctly now (very sorry to everyone who had to put up with that earlier.)

So... I have "warrior ADD"... I'm assuming a few others here know what I'm talking about, and wish to pay someone (who can focus) some money to take a 250 page book from word... format it like a "real book", do a simple clean "business type" cover for it ...( its a "how to get a mortgage" book )... and then hold my hand to get it submitted the way the wso explains.

If anyone is interested, please PM me.... I will have a new book ready about every 2 weeks... and maybe alot more if I can get on some good ADD meds!

Couldn't agree more with you there!!!!

I, for one, have sold dvd's and second hand books on Amazon before and it used to tickle me to death to wake up EVERY DAY to 4 or 5 emails from Amazon with the subject, "You have made a sale. Ship your item..."

So if you can just follow the guidelines in Jessica's WSO and pump out a book whenever you can, preferably one a day, then you are golden.

PROS
-No Google Slaps
-No SEO
-No worrying if your adsense account is going to get banned because you haven't followed some obscure rule
-No backlinks and linkwheels
-No buying of 50 websites/domains because you want to scale up a biz that's bringing you $1 a day
-No "maintenance" of your biz after end product is sold
-No marketing software needed
-No tricking people on CL

I mean really, this is the WSO to end all WSO's, IMO.

and it's only 7 pages!

I think I can answer this, Todd. I haven't published yet, but I have signed up for an account at Createspace.com and have looked around on there quite a bit.

Yes, you have the option of publishing in color, although that would take a bigger portion of your profits. You would want to price your books accordingly.

If you go to their site, you can see exactly what each book will cost you. There is a chart that lays it all out. You will be paying a fixed price per book, and also a percentage of the sales price. They actually get a larger share than you do, you have to think of it as royalties.

If you publish a black and white book, under 110 pages, for 15.95 and put it on Amazon instead of your own estore, you will make 5.91 per book.

A color book at the same price, but with only 40 pages, you would only get 3.02 per book.

1) Like Todd I would like to know if its possible to submit documents with large amounts of color photos / illustrations - will Amazon print these?

2) Re: the 30% tax payable by non US residents, does anyone know if this is 30% of the total sale price OR 30% of your profit (commisssion)

3) Is there a reason for creating every single page individually in photoshop? Would it not be easier to compose your book in Word and then send the whole document to a pdf printer?

4) Do you (or anyone!) have any advice regarding the conventions of the layout of pages in a standard book (like do you need to leave the usual blank facing pages after the titlepage etc) + the usual legal and copyright stuff that goes at the front etc.

Just got the system this morning and read through it quickly. Actually, I have been using most of the methods in the system already but it's a good system if you haven't published on Amazon before and it's pretty easy that anyone can follow it. I don't want to give Jessica's system away, but I just wanted to add a bit to what you can do with this system.

I wrote a niche ebook in June 2008 which I sold online for $29. After about a year and over 1200 copies being sold, I self-published the ebook into a hard hard copy using the same method in Jessica's Amazon System. Because I'm no good with photoshop, I farmed the cover design and layout on elance for $200. This single book accounted for between $800 and $1000 in royalties each month just from Amazon sales.

And yes, my book took less than a day to write! You can write these books in less than a day very easily.

After getting this up to that level on Amazon (in addition to ebook sales), I put the entire business up for sale (selling all rights to the book/ebook) for 50k. So, basically in the course of just one year, this single ebook converted into a book amounted to an income of over 90k.

Just something you might want to keep in mind when you start your publishing empire.

If you look on Jessica's purchase page, the levels at which she increase the price are clearly stated:

Current Price: $37

$27 for the first 50

$37 for the next 50

$47 for 101+

I also hesitated about buying and paid the $37 instead of the $27, but consider it well worth it!

I can't tell you profits yet as I've only just got the proof excepted but will let you know in a week or 2.

Mostly I'm writing because I noticed people going on about tax issues. I am based in Ireland and am therefor tax exempt from any government fee's in the USA.
Paperwork for tax was done online and has gone through so this isn't just opinion.

Having researched this a bit, if your country has an established tax rate treaty with the US the amount of tax you pay can be reduced as far as 0% depemding on the country. However, you will then be liable to pay tax on your createpace profits in your own country as self employed income (so for example, 20% in the UK so you would be "saving" 10%). As far as I understand it, even if you do this you STILL have to submit a tax return to the IRS every year. Can anyone confirm this?

Colin when you did your paperwork for tax did you have to submit a notarary copy of your passport? I saw this mentioned on the createspace forums and heard it costs £70!
