| Are You An Online Entrepreneur Over the Age of 50?? Full time or Part Time, Guru or Newbie - We want to hear from you! Here’s the scoop: We are writing a book about the ‘Silver Entrepreneurs’ of the Internet - those IMer’s that are over the age of 50 and running an online business! The current plan is to publish both digitally and in print, through Amazon and Clickbank. We need a minimum of 30 profiles, but would love to have 50 or more! If we get enough - we will split them into two editions! It doesn’t matter whether you are full time, or part time, guru or newbie - it’s the story of how and why you decided to start an online venture rather than a brick and mortar venture AND the fact that you are over the age of 50!! Here’s what you get for participating:
PS..... It doesn’t matter if you were not 50 when you STARTED your venture - as long as you currently 50 or older, and working online! If you have any questions - just drop me a PM or post here! Questions so far: 1. Can we add logos, pictures or screenshots to our section? Yes! The form at the link above lets you add just one - but you can send additional graphics to the email address at the above link - just make a notation in the copy where you want each graphic to be inserted. 2. Should this be just about our business or can we include more of the personal side of why we are working online? Include both if you can! This is your chance to tell YOUR story of the how and why of your online business adventure! 3. Can we use an 'online' name or do we have to give out our real identity? Since many are probably still holding down a JOB while working online - you are more than welcome to use your online name to avoid any nasty repercussions from a current employer. The goal is to get you some good PR for your business online not get you fired before you are ready to leave your job!RE: International Phone Numbers: The phone number space can accept any format number - it's just one long text box now ;-) so it should work for any phone number Melody |

Hi Donna! It will ALWAYS be PC to say "Go Reds"! I am a 'transplant' from Calif but I love it here - and I love Skyline Chili! In fact, I just spent 3 weeks in Reno, due to a family emergency, and today's lunch is going to be a 5 way with hot sauce ;-) As to the deadline - it's flexible - this is a pretty good sized project, and we want to do it right since we are also discussing it with a couple of VERY large 'seniors' groups for distribution to their members - so we will most likely be collecting profiles for at least the next four weeks. BUT - we are giving Warriors the top priority at being included ;-) and the special affiliate program. Melody |

Hi Melody, I've completed your form, but you REALLY need to consider international warriors with the phone number section. You have noooo idea how hard it was to get your form to accept my submission. (And therefore it's false!) ![]() Cheryl |

Cheryl!! My apologies! Unfortunately, I used WuFoo for the forms since the data is formatted so nicely for the project, and I never even thought about the international phone numbers!! Considering that virtually all of my own consulting clients for my payment processing biz are outside of the US - I should have caught that! Thank you so much for pointing that out - I will get a 'work around' set up immediately as I don't think WuFoo has anything other than the North American firmat on the phone numbers. Your story is very inspiring and I really appreciate your taking the time to share it! Melody |

Hi Melody I'd love to participate but I'm not quite qualified yet - I'm 6 weeks away from my 50th birthday! Any chance you'd make an exception for a youngster like me? If not can I apply in December? Aloha! Bill |

Although...I have to admit that I do have birthdays down to an 'art form' - I have trained family and friends that birthdays are at least a two week event - everyone takes me out for lunch or dinner and of course we always get a free dessert to share since I am the birthday 'girl'..... My personal philosophy is that you are going to get older whether you enjoy it or not...so you might as well get all the goodies that you can out of the situation!! Try it - it's amazing how everyone's attitude has changed about birthdays now.....the bad part is that it is hell on diets....... ;-0 Mel

![]() No idea what AARP discounts are.... but we have Seniors card here in Oz. (Government issued.) I don't qualify for that because you have to be 60 to get it, but you can buy one that's similiar called National Seniors and costs pennies for what you get. I bought a five year card for hubby and me, and it cost $118. There are tons of places you can get discounts, but for me the seniors meals are the biggest drawcard. I eat like a sparrow and buying huge meals is such a waste. Now I can get the smaller sized meals at a much more reasonable price. Cheryl

But I love the 55+ menus - I am like you, and most restaurants have such huge portions I can eat on my leftovers for days, so the smaller portions are perfect. One thing I know for sure - I look at friends that are at retirement age from their jobs, and so many seem so lost, or they are looking for something to make some extra money and keep busy when they leave their 'careers' - I feel very fortunate to be online and working from home. Why retire?? Melody

Wow! I actually took a break away from the computer and look what happened! Thank you to everyone that has submitted tonight! This is actually the first step in a fairly large project that will combine both a free and paid membership site for the niche - with the ultimate goal of being a resource for the over 50 online business owner - or 'wannabe'. Right now, this is the fastest growing online demographic - and globally, it's also the age group that is started the most new online ventures, in large part due to economic necessity, but also because many of us are looking to break out of the career rut and find another way to economic freedom. It's definitely about lifestyle choices - and let's face it - the IM lifestyle is a great one! Our goal is to help pave the way for our fellow 'silver IMers' by providing a wide variety of experiences, training and resources, and I hope that everyone that has participated so far will be a part of the larger project. More details will be sent out to everyone the first of next week ;-) Stay tuned - and thanks again! Melody Needless to say - everyone here will be invited to participate ;-) when we |

Good to hear from you - did your move go well? Everything is back on track again, I hope? I was pretty much absent for the past month - my father passed away quite unexpectedly, and I spent 3 weeks with my mom on the west coast, helping out, so am just getting caught back up with everyone here. Hi Melody, I think, I am a little (lot) older than most of those who have posted notes so have no trouble qualifying with age. Just recently turned 70. Just submitted your form. Your project seems well planned, I liked the probing questions and opportunity to write to our hearts content. Obviously, you will have an editing job ahead of you. Feel free to chop my narration as much as you wish. Best Wishes for your project, Glenda |

Absolutely! Visit this page to submit your profile - The Over 50 Entrepreneurs Project! This project has evolved way beyond the first idea - more coming within the next two weeks ;-) Things were delayed for almost two months, as my father passed away very suddenly, and I have been out of the office for almost 6 weeks in the last 3 months, flying back and forth between home in Cincinnati and my parent's home in Reno - still trying to help Mom get their home ready to sell, as she wants to move to the Tampa/Clearwater area. One of those things that many of us 'over 50' entrepreneurs deal with! Melody |

I've posted the link to my Facebook group: Wazzum Community Dating Site Owners | Facebook "My friend Melody is publishing a book about Silver Entrepreneurs. If you are over 50 and running a dating site, you do qualify. If you are chosen, you will be getting free publicity for your dating site from the book. Please do check it out." Hope that you get some quality entries from there. |

Hey there Melody, So it looks like you started this thread back in October of "09". Are you still looking for volunteer 50+ IM'rs? I don't want to bother you with form results if you already have all you need. If you are still intent on the book project I would be happy to ad my profile to the rest. Thanks for your time, |

Hi Everyone! Yes - this is still 'live' and actually working on it this week - it's been a case of really bad timing and Murphy's Law - have had 3 deaths in the family since this project was started - and just got back from almost a month away from home, getting my mom's home sold in Reno, and then helping her move to The Villages in Florida! So - the web site is now live - although still 'rough' around the edges and the book is in the editing stage right now - those that have already submitted their details should have their draft back for revisions on their profile this week. Still plenty of time to submit your profile and lots of ways to get involved beyond the book as well - see my sig file for the site link! |

Hi do you still need some help? It is a great idea!! I am no techie but I do have some links and stuff that might be usefull to someone. But the contrast is too low for my eyes, I need some easier on the eye contrast. I love the grey black white colors. Really classy looking site. Of course being an idiot I had trouble find out how to add my websites to my profile and trouble finding out where to post things. and i could not find my picture to add so added a desert scene, since I am thinking of water, very thirsty..... Sorry i am not very good at anything but i have a big mouth and can type fast. michele |

I got here via your sig link and see that you started this back in October. Are you still looking for profiles, or is it too late? The link in your original post is going to a parked page, so I'm guessing this ship has sailed. But I don't like to assume, so asking anyway. |
