STOP ASKING FOR REVIEW COPIES!!

Do not ask for review copies of WSO's unless the person selling the WSO has offered them.

Please stop this immediately. If it continues the people doing it will be deleted from the forum.

Enough is enough. On some WSO's almost the entire first page of the thread is people asking for review copies when none were offered.

I'm one who asked for a review copy a few times, and I stopped after I realized how annoying this is. Sorry for that

I agree that this rule is good, and in line with the other rule that you can only post an opinion about the WSO's quality after you've bought it.

Thanks for that rule..WSO's are cost effective on their own and if people are in the internet business they should treat it as such..
It is a business and there is always a cost of doing business.
If it is a free lunch, it generally is at the soup kitchen..

Thank you Allen. I support this move 100%. Folks have to pay for their WSO's and unless they are specifically offering free copies, we need to quit seeking freebies. WSO's are already supposed to be discounted (some very heavily), so why not help the Warrior out and accept his/her already generous offer? I you don't think the product is worth the WSO, it's simple, just don't buy it!

Let's see . . . I'd like to have a review copy of a BMW 535 . . . anybody got one?

I think I know the guy you are talking about. It was really starting to annoy me, too!

Another approach, for those individuals offering WSO's who want to get reviews, is what happened to me recently. A fellow warrior saw my participation in a thread about a similar WSO I had purchased, and sent me a PM offering a review copy. He knew that it was something that I was already interested in, and that he would get his review from me. I thought that was a good idea.

I adore this rule. Free things are always nice, but when it comes down to products that are designed to make you money in some way shape or form, you're going to appreciate it more (and MAYBE even act on it) if you spend your hard earned money on it. Getting a good product for free really devalues it in my opinion...

I think sellers could help by asking for reviews before running the WSO - instead of using the offer to get posting activity for the WSO.

Probably one of the best ideas.

Maybe seller should summit the chosen number of review copies to be given to the one handling the WSO alerts/WSO of the day.., and let them chose WHO to give the set number of review copies to.

This is a very reasonable rule, as being offered a 'review copy' is a privilege available for long-term members with very good reputations, who can give reviews the rest of us will trust.

I have been surprised lately by the amount of brand new members who were scouring the WSO asking / demanding / pleading, for free review copies of everything for sale on the forum - as someone above here said, just wasting space on the thread for people who are reading the posts looking for actual reviews before they buy (although lately I have found glowing reviews by 'respected' members for rubbish that I only bought because of their reviews ...grrrr).

Now I wonder when Allan will look into the stupid and annoying claims being made on some WSO titles --- if one more 'guarantees' that I will make over one thousand dollars a day, every day, if anyone buys their chopped up and inadequate bits of information, I will gag!

This is actually something I am working on, so I definitely think it is a good idea.

Basically, it will let the visitors to the thread know how many review copies are left in real-time. It will also allow seller to only give review copies to a pre-selected list of people, as well.

Thanks! It's not just being done with the new WSOs. I've recieved over a hundred review requests for a product I put up as a WSO in the old forum. These people are using the PM system to get the job done behind the scenes.

I agree with you Kay, the people wanting to get reviews for their WSO should be doing that before the WSO goes live - not in the main discussion forum either unless it is a special circumstances like beta testing software or something where the seller/owner/developer needs more than 5 people involved. There are other ways of contacting people to ask them to review something instead of cluttering up the main forum. The testimonials would probably be moe authentic this way too.

Kay,

Of course, that goes without saying. Clearly it will be for the sellers that opt to use review copies.

I think it will be most effective for those sellers who are new to the forum and don't have enough trust built up. It can really help them get going, as long as they have a good product to offer.

Plus, the way I am implementing it is a bit different than how it is usually done, so it will also greatly increase the quality and credibility of reviews that are given.

Win-win-win, that is my motto for everything I release, and this will be no exception.
