Default Zero to Two Thousand a month on Amazon? Possible? Here's the Quick & Dirty Answer

From Steve Lindhorst, author of Selling on 'the River'...

Zero to $2000 a Month on Amazon. Possible?

Here's the quick and dirty answer -

Take a look below. I'm usually not one for screenshots, but I had to share this one.

This is my Amazon performance summary for the past year:

(Can you tell when I started taking my ADD medication?)

After my Amazon sales recently skyrocketed, lots of my newsletter readers wanted to know how they could do it too.

They asked how I find, choose and list, and price books on Amazon.
A lot of people asked...

With the economy in rough shape, you're probably scrambling to find extra income. Maybe you're not good at building websites, you don't have time to grow a blog or an email list, and not much to invest in schemes.

You don't have time to wade through lots of unnecessary details. If you're in that situation - you need to find something
RIGHT NOW!

"I was spending a lot of time on things
that might make money in time - but I needed to keep the lights on at home!"

I have found a "recipe" that consistently works for me, as you can see from the screenshot. This doesn't only apply to books, it works for anything you sell on Amazon.

U
ntil about two months ago I was neglecting my Amazon sales. I was building websites, consulting, and other things to get along. As the screenshot shows, I was averaging only a few sales per month on Amazon.

Then as I got more focused, I nailed down what it takes to make it on Amazon. Then I kicked things into gear. Last month, instead of 3 sales, I shipped over 253 items! Everything was up and running full speed within 30 days - and I'm PUMPED about it! The more I do the more I sell. No schemes or tricks.

I'm only spending about a day and a half on Amazon-related work per week - and most of it is shopping (which I happen to love). This gives me time to work on my other (more automatic) sites the rest of the week.

All I do is buy the things I want to sell, list them & ship them to Amazon's warehouse in a big box - they do the rest - leaving me more time.
  • I don't pack and ship orders
  • I don't deal with customer returns or complaints
  • Payment is automatically collected and deposited in my bank
Anyway, let me cut to the chase - after I got all the questions about selling on Amazon I decided to sit down and bang out an ebook that explained just what I did to go from practically $0 - $2000 per month in Amazon sales.

It's called:

Amazon - The Quick & Dirty Guide

The Scoop on Finding, Listing, and Selling Books

(and other stuff)

I have friends who ask me how to make some kind of extra money online. So I pictured one of them sitting here in my office, with me talking about how to make consistent money on Amazon. Then I just wrote everything down.

In 40 pages you'll learn:
  • Where you can find LOTS of profitable books, CDs, DVDs, and other items consistently
  • How letting Amazon fulfill your orders will explode your sales
  • How to choose what to buy - and what to leave on the shelf
  • How to use Amazon's Sales Rank to determine the likelihood of a sale
  • How to find thrift stores wherever you go
  • What to do if you find products with no barcodes or ISBNs
  • Strategies to improve your chances of a sale
  • Why you should charge a more than your competition - and still get the sale!
  • How to clean and repair books, CDs, and DVDs to pull higher prices
There's a bunch more. I say it's "quick and dirty" because I didn't spend a bunch of time on a website or fancy graphics. It's pretty much just "meaty" stuff that will help you make money.

Oh and in case you're thinking my sales went up just because of Christmas - they took a dip for about three days over the holiday. Now though, they're back as strong as ever. In fact, every day they are getting better.

I've sold hundreds of copies already at $19.97, which is a bargain when you look at what I've done with this information in just a couple of months. But for this WSO - of course there is a special price...

Just ten bucks.

I've known a lot of these things for some time, but it wasn't till I put all the parts together that I made my Amazon sales hum.

Get the new year started right. Read this ebook and find out the recipe for some additional income.

Wishing you much success!

Steve

PS - Many have written to me and asked questions. Here is a short FAQ for you:
  • "Can I use this ebook if I already have your other book Selling on 'the River'?"

Yes! Selling on 'the River' explains the basics about Amazon such as setting up an account, how to create your first listings, and just how Amazon differs from eBay. This Amazon - Quick & Dirty Guide gives you ideas on where to find things to sell, listing strategies, and how to price competitively. It's a great compliment to Selling on 'the River,' but each product stands alone.
  • "Is this information relevant to people outside the U.S.?"

Yes! If you can sell on Amazon in your country, this guide will help. The concepts are the same on your own country's Amazon site. I've even included a few resources for thrift shops in the UK, Canada, and Australia.
  • "Is your bookselling plan predicated on owning one of those book barcode scanners?"

You can certainly buy and sell books without the scanner, most sellers probably do. However, in order to do what I did over the past couple of months, I could not have done it without some sort of service. In the guide I discuss a bit about where I found an affordable way I found to try a scanner service. Simply scan the barcode on a book, CD, or DVD and it tells you whether to buy or reject it.
  • "Is this ebook just about selling books, CDs, and DVDs, or will it help with other items?"

It will help you in finding, listing, and pricing nearly anything you can sell on Amazon. It's focus is primarily on media items, since that's what I sell. But the concepts are universal.

I just purchased "Amazon-The Quick & Dirty Guide" and find it most informative in alternative ways of buying your products and selling books, cd's and other items on Amazon.
He have a unique way of writing and expressing what you need to do to sell with a heads up on your marketing plans. It's amazing how he comes up with his own theorys and works it in his marketing plans and shares it with us. I'm thankful to that. This is my 4th ebook I've bought from Steve Lindhorst and his bundle package. Thelma Harcum

I suspected that there was a right way and wrong way to sell your goods on Amazon, and this wso shows the right way.

I've been selling on Amazon very well for years. We worked in their offices in Seattle on their failed auction site, failed zstores, successful astores, my own amazon store, affiliate sales, and more.

I believe this wso will lead me in the correct direction to increase sales of my goods many times. This report actually outlines, in a folksy way, a game plan that could be scaled into a good sized business that is fun and interesting. It is well written and illustrated, a good fast read that you will use as a reference.

There were some techniques and methods I knew nothing about and never heard of. I already knew a lot that is in this wso; maybe half of the wso is irrelevant to my niche, but fascinating; but the important concepts that I did not know are what make this wso essential.

It is not a step by step guide of these methods. You should first have experience selling on Amazon or instead read his prerequisite guide "Selling on the River" or similar. He also has an informative blog. And there are some follow-up items that could be purchased to speed everything up.

I recommend this wso to anybody that wants to make good money buying and selling their merchandise on Amazon. It is a foundation for building that business.

Ok, we get it, Mr/Mz 3MinVid. Let me say this... I have a copy of Steve's new Amazon product, because I know him and he sent it to me for review. (I'll get back to that in a moment.)

It is very easy and tempting in the IM market to be cynical and sarcastic, and to not believe in claims by product producers and friendly reviewers.

Steve does not claim he makes, or others can expect, $50,000 per month, or a zillion bucks per year... or even a modest "boast" such as $5k monthly from a single activity.

When Steve writes about Amazon, or eBay, or other online businesses - he only offers systems and procedures that he, actually and personally, has current businesses operating in, and producing the results he claims.

Steve's only offering to others the opportunity to learn what he has learned, that actually works. With no grandiose claims. This, unfortunately, is as rare as it is refreshing and honest.

His "Quick and Dirty Guide" is that same, solid, reality based guidance that Steve is known for. He's earned his customers' respect, because he will not hype or stretch the truth for a few sales. The price is a bargain. There are lots of people who could use, implement and benefit from this expert guide.

No one will "make a million" from this guide, but it is a real plan for real results, that many people can actually attain.

Steve,

Man, congratulations on this successful WSO! I bought it, can't resist it.

I think you spilled too much! Those resources that you talk about can be made into a live Private Coaching charging $2,997 per person! I especially like the section where you disclosed the sources to look for great product deals to sell, and those little little mentions, so little that I think they are BIG to me, that can turn a disaster into a bank!

Agreed with what Alloo said, there are people selling successfully in Amazon and others failed, the difference is doing the right thing or the wrong thing, which are sometimes, just above the fence. To the right, you are right. A little to the left, you poof.

Steve showed exactly the right things to do. Please read it Word-By-Word! You will be able to understand Steve's psychology on selling in Amazon, which I think is the most important part of the book.

Great job Steve! I am glad you shared this with the Warriors!

Wish you success with this WSO!

Hi,

If we have access to wholesalers, manufacturers or drop shippers
already, can those products be used on Amazon or with your WSO?

Or is this just for garage sale / tag sale finds?

Thanks,

Jason

This is a great read -- especially for those just starting out in the book business. Steve’s guide covers where to find inventory, how to upgrade the condition of your items, and the best way to sell on Amazon – via FBA.

He also offers plenty of links in his book, which provide a great deal of supplemental information.

In my opinion, this $10 book is all you really need to start a part-time business from your home.

Jason,
You can use the sources you mention to sell on Amazon. I'm sure thousands do already. If you're new to selling on Amazon though, my ebook "Selling on 'the River'" is a good basics manual.
This WSO leans toward finding books and other media items from local sources like book sales, estate sales, etc. Then it shows how to list them and price them. It also talks a bit about Amazon's FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) program and how that can really make it all easy.

elirainc,
Basically, it can be as little as $6 per month, plus the cost of products you buy to resell. But you'll do more manual work at that level, which takes more time.

To really make things move, I recommend using a barcode scanner. In the book I recommend just renting one to start. That's about $60 per month. Besides that I also recommend an Amazon Pro Merchant account once you hit 40 sales per month. (With the scanner, 40 sales per month is easy.) That is $39 per month, and allows you to use the scanner to list in bulk, saving lots of time.

After that, a few office/shipping supplies and you're in business.

This was a fantastic product. I highly recommend this WSO. I would have liked a little more information on the scanner he talked about, but I was able to get that by contacting him.

Hi Steve,
It's hard enough finding standing room in those library book sales before you shared all these money-making secrets :-)

Everything you've instructed in your manual is right on. I've been doing this for a while out of just sheer love for anything to do with books. Most weekends, my 3 kids (age 6-15) just come with me on these book sales and earn for themselves roughly $25-60 per week spending money for each kid. You'll be surprise how much and how fast these used books sell.

Each of us stick to what we know best. I focus on nonfiction, my son on science fiction and manga books, my older daughter on romance, and the youngest sticks with children books. (My youngest daughter most recent book sold was Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?)

If you're new to this, do what I did with my kids. Until they learn to recognize authors and series that sell fast, I brought them to days that host library bag sales only. On these days, you get to fill up a paper grocery bag for $3-5 each. This way, they get to pick books they want to read and other books,CD,DVD, they think will sell and it won't cost me more than $3-5 per kid. I taught them how to go through each book to make sure no notation, hightlight, torn pages, cutouts, etc. Even then, we always made money.

Like Steve, I also send all our books to Amazon to be shipped out. It's really get the kids excited checking for Amazon emails on what items they have shipped to buyers.
Your other sources of getting items to sell are awesome. I'll have to start first thing Monday while the kids are in school. I use your method ($6/mo) to check on items that I'm unsure of and it's very reliable for me.

I really recommend Steve's guide to anyone interest in selling used books, CD, and DVD on Amazon. If you enjoy reading, going to the libraries on a regular basis, or want to teach kids a fun and easy way of earning spending money, you can't go wrong.
