Do we need to use proxies? The issues I always run into with these kind of tools, is that you need to use proxies, but they are expensive and hard to find good ones.

Any thoughts on that?

You don't really need to use proxies. Google is hit lightly and unlikely to block you, and then each site is hit once for commenting.

We do plan to add proxy rotation support in an upcoming version and of course all buyers will get that new feature free.

For everyone who is not a wordpress expert, this question is about a smart spam prevention plugin for wordpress called Akismet. Akismet works collaboratively so that sites whose URLs get spammed are quickly identified as spam sites and the comments containing such URLs are quickly flagged as spam.

So the question is (probably, I'm guessing here) whether using the bot will get your sites flagged as spammer by Akismet.

The answer is that I don't know. Depends what you do. If you blast 5000 sites that all have Akismet installed with one billion comments all containing the same URL, it's possible (or likely, I don't know) that your site will get flagged.

Like any tool, you can do bad things and good things with the Harvester&Commenter bot. You can harm yourself, shoot yourself in the foot, or you can create useful content and gain backlinks legitimately.

Its up to you.

For people who are considering to buy this bot, to ensure that the bot works the best possible it can, please pre-validate your system with this check list:

• What operating system do you have? You should have one of these: Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista 32bit -- if you don't you're on an unsupported version of Windows, and the bot is guaranteed to work only on these OSes.
• Are you sure you have the latest .NET and Internet Explorer 8 installed? You *must* have those. Please upgrade by following the appropriate links on http://backlinkbot.com/help/ (at the bottom of that page).

If you do run into any problems, please do report them -- we really appreciate the opportunity to help and make things better. When you report, include the following:

• Any files produced by the bot
• What part of the bot produced the problem -- the harvester, the blogengine commenter, or the wordpress commenter
• What was the error/problem

OK, good news for people that experienced problems starting the comment phase after the harvest phase was done -- we have been able to reproduce the bad behavior and we will be issuing a fix for this bug soon. Either tonight PST or early Sunday morning. Notification will be through the buyers mailing list.

Hi folks.

My review would normally be published by now. But I had problems
and so I PMed Joe. We've swapped a few emails now. The problems
are due to a faulty installation of Microsoft .Net on my computer.
When I run the latest install file for .Net, I get a "Setup Error".

Am looking for a solution to that. This computer has been
troublesome for a while and my main computer is running Linux
not the required Windows platform.

Despite the troubles I ran into, I am impressed with what the Bot
did do and I recommend it to you. If you do have troubles, Joe will
communicate with you, I'm sure, as he has done with me, and
there's always the 30 money back guarantee if all else fails.

One thing I learned is that you will need to scan through the list
of harvested URLs because it harvests any site with your
keywords on it. For example, I ran a search for forex sites. On
the resulting list of 818 sites, there were a number of sex sites
because those sites had a post from somebody using forex in
his username.

So I suggested to Joe that he adds an editable banned words file
and he really liked that idea. That would reduce the time taken in
manually scanning the list of harvested sites.

SOLID RECOMMENDATION: BUY THIS. IT'S A HUGE TIME SAVER.

But do remember to scan the harvested list, as explained above.

Joe tells me he plans to improve the training resources too.
Meanwhile the video by Muz earlier in this thread is your best
training on how to use the Bot.

I have to be honest and above-board here. I cannot blame the problems that Gary ran into on the faulty .NET install, since they look very similar to problems that other people reported. Its most likely the problem that I described in http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ml#post1719409 and not anything to do with .NET

I'm expecting a complete fix tomorrow morning. I'll send the instructions to the buyers list when I have verified and tested. This release has an installer.

The next release after that will probably have proxy support, and potentially also a banned words file.

Please keep the feature requests coming!

Joe, just a quick note as to problems with people not signing up for updates or not getting the product. The thing that I noticed with the download page is that the headline and the red arrows draw the reader's attention straight to the signup box, so it might be better to put the signup box below the zip file and see if that helps. I know that the text itself couldn't be clearer, but not everybody reads everything on the page so you need to make it as simple as possible for them.

Finally finished downloading, so now I am off to play with it! :-)

There's unfortunately no reliable way to pick only auto-approve blogs. However, you can create a URL list and feed that to the bot, so in your list include only blogs that auto-approve. Remember to only include blogs of one kind (either wordpress or blogengine) or you might get some failures attempting to comment.

I've finally got my installation of .Net working okay, it seems.

Still having some troubles with Backlinkbot along with some heartwarming successes.
I am keeping the good Joe Finn informed of both and I believe he's working to resolve
the outstanding wrinkles.

Just now, the bot harvested 874 Wordpress blogs from Bing for a niche term I am

Probably the comment posting could have gone a lot faster but there are still some ubot bugs that pop up and halt the program until you make a response, and I happened to be gone for several hours while the program was running so I have no idea how long it actually took for the program to work through over 1,800 URLs. I sent a PM to Joe about the ubot wordpress commenting problem and from what I have read in this thread the problem is being worked on.

Once the bugs are worked out I think this will be great for a set and post overnight process. Now, if at least 10% of the moderated blogs approve the comments I will have a really nice boost in backlinks.
