in the past, an affiliate was able to receive commission for each new memeber that create an account in ebay. Is this the case right now or we make commissions only from the succesfull auctions published

It will work on any of the Countries that are listed in the eBay Partner Network, so yes, it can work worldwide.

It's not a toolbar, its actually more of a plug-in. It works on IE and Firefox browsers. If you go to the site, you will see a live example of how it works.

Hey Karl,

For the end user, it is a convenient way for them to search eBay without having to go to the site. It's purely convenient, and its free!

As the owner of your very own plugin, you can profit from everyone that uses it.

I even had a kid install it on MANY computers at his school, and he told me that he is making decent money from that. Kind of got me thinking....

I purchased your software plugin a couple weeks ago. But...

I'm very concerned about placing your 'software' search tool on ANY of my sites after reading the post (quoted below) by an eBay affiliate partner over at the EPN discussion boards.

EPN sent me the following email, closed my account immediately and have taken $1250 of pending commissions.

Of course, they are within their rights to do this but wouldn't it be nice if they would actually reply to my emails seeking clarification ?

I've sent four emails so far without a single response.

Here's the email I got from the EPN:

"After reviewing your promotional method, we found that you are in violation of the eBay Partner Network Service Agreement.

Our records indicate that you have not received a written approval to promote eBay through downloadable software. This model is considered a special promotion model as outlined by our network agreement in section (F)(4)(d) and requires a express written approval from the eBay Partner Network or the Advertiser.

Your publisher account will be expired immediately, and 100% of your pending commissions will be reversed. You are not allowed to rejoin the eBay Partner Network.

As stated in the ePN Network Agreement, Section (F)(4):
Special Promotional Methods. Promoting Participating Sites and Content using any Promotional Methods other than a Link on your own website is considered a "Special Promotional Method". If your Special Promotional Method is not approved by the Program Terms, you are required to obtain ePN's or the Advertiser's express written permission in advance to use that Promotional Method in that Program.

You are responsible for verifying whether the applicable Program Terms allow or approve your Special Promotional Method. ePN reserves the right to request you to terminate any special Promotional Method at any time, with or without notice or cause, and you agree to immediately comply.

The following are non-limiting examples for special promotional methods:
1. e-mail, instant messaging, IRC channels or other electronic communications,
2. downloadable software
3. incentive programs, or
4. distribution of Promotional Content via distribution partners or ad networks,
5. promoting Participating Sites and Content by placing Links in Paid Search results,

You will not promote Participating Sites and Content using Special Promotional Methods unless the Program Terms or ePN approve such promotion expressly in writing, in advance, and you comply with the additional terms in the Code of Conduct (https://www.ebaypartnernetwork.com/PublisherRegCC").

So what was my crime ?

I created a small Visual Basic application that allowed people to search eBay VIA my site which I then made available on my site for download. It DID NOT search eBay directly but routed searches THROUGH my site.
I did not think that this was in contravention of the EPN partner agreement because I read it as you can't create an application which send traffic directly to eBay.

Kekoa64 -- I highly suggest that you apply to eBay Partner Network directly for their official approval to USE this software plugin, AND IF you GET their approval... to provide that written permission along with the software for your buyers/customers. Otherwise, I fear the following could well happen to any of us that send traffic through your search tool.

I had to PM Kekoa and it took him a day or two to reply back with how to remove it.

But if I remember rightly... there is a remove option in the drop-down for the search. If that doesn't work, PM Kekoa to get his attention.

I have not had any problems with any of my promotional tools.
My misspelled search tool (http://www.kekoachung.com/ebaytool/index.php),
and my awesome plugins have been in existence for a very long time. I have
made thousands of dollars in revenue using them, and haven't had a single
problem.

However, I understand your concern, and I will get written consent from the
folks at EPN. Thank you for making me extra aware of the situation.

As, for deleting the plugin, all you have to do is click on the drop down box
next to the plugin and delete it there.
