Default Amazon Publishing with Microsoft Word & Open Office-Easy As 1, 2, 3 With This Book Template!

ATTENTION AMAZON PUBLISHERS:

How Would You Like An Easy To Use Book Template That Takes All The Frustration From Formatting Your Book For Publishing On Amazon?

Hey There Warriors,

I absolutely love self-publishing books on Amazon! It's fun, profitable, and an incredible way to fast track your credibility in any niche.

I now have five books under my belt but when I first started I was stuck and frustrated over how to format my books.

I was so frustrated that I put this lucrative business model in the back-burner for over 2 months because I was having such a difficult time formatting the book.

I was already the author of over 10 e-books and e-reports so I thought it would be easy for me to publish my first "real" book but setting up the book manuscript into the correct format to submit to Amazon.com's CreateSpace was a nightmare.

"I Was Gnawing At My Wrists!"

I tried to learn how to format my book using Photoshop. HOLY CRAP! I was gnawing at my wrists!

First, I know nothing about Photoshop. I'm no stinkin' graphic designer, I'm a marketer! :-)

Creating the book with Photoshop was painful and ridiculously complicated. Come on, making a PDF page for every page of the book, then combining them all together! What?? That stopped me right on my tracks.

I wanted to use my word processor not Photoshop! So, I scoured the CreateSpace website and forums but I was still confused and un-published.

Maybe it's just me, but I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to properly format my book with my word processor so it would be accepted by CreateSpace.

"Ready For Amazon..."

Finally, after a lot of frustrating time, trial, and errors, I got the book formatting down to a T!

Now it's as easy as pie to write my books with a word processor so they're Createspace friendly and ready for Amazon.

I'm now making this Book Template available to Warriors. This is the same template I have used to publish all my books. Here is one of my titles selling on Amazon right now:

The book started selling right away so as you can see you won't have any problems using the same book template for your books:

See it here on Amazon.See it here on Amazon.

"Complete Easy To Use Template With Open Office & Word"

All my books are written with this template using the Open Office word processor, Writer. Also included with your order, is a version for Microsoft's word processor, Word! That's right, you get the book template in both formats (ODT & DOC) with your order today!

The Book Template is very easy to use. Just open it with Open Office Writer or Microsoft Word and you're all set!

"You Do Not Need To Use Photoshop"

In a recent post here on the Warrior Forum about self-publishing someone posted that you needed to use Photoshop to self-publish on Amazon. I responded by letting people know that you DO NOT need to use Photoshop at all.

I showed links to 2 of my books written with Open Office as proof.

I then received a few PM's asking me questions. A fellow Warrior suggested I offer my Book Template as a WSO and I thought to myself: "now that's a cool idea"!

I wish I would have had this Book Template when I started my self publishing endeavors. And so here we are. A special deal for Warriors.

This Book Template will make things a lot easier for you so you can just focus on putting your book together. I wanted to make sure it was affordable for Warriors so I'm pricing this at only $10 bucks.

Download Now

Preview The Template By Watching This Video:

The Book Template is ready start self publishing with CreateSpace right away. Here is what you get:

  • Book title page with placeholders for the BOOK TITLE, SUBTITLE, & AUTHOR NAME.
  • Front matter page with placeholders for copyright information.
  • Copyright and disclaimer verbiage (note: I'm not an attorney so use the verbiage as is at your own risk).
  • Table of Contents page (fully formatted so the word processor automatically creates the TOC vs. doing it manually).
  • Eleven chapter pages with chapter title and text placeholders (you just start typing or copying/pasting).
  • Introduction page.
  • Conclusion page.
  • About the Author page.
  • Appendix page.
  • Resource page.
  • Page numbers in the footer (properly formatted to start on first page of your book , NOT on your cover).
  • Font sizes, margins, line spacing and paragraph indenting has already been appropriately formatted for a 6 x 9 inches paperback book.
  • Default font's used throughout the Book Template are optimized for printed books but they can easily be changed.
  • Book Template comes in two formats: Open Office Writer (ODT) and Microsoft Word (DOC), covering both popular word processors, covering most people.

Alan,

Wow! What a time saving book template! You just saved me some cash and a bunch of time learning how to use a graphics editor tool to design my book covers with.

I'm in and a few questions please:

1. I looked inside your book on Amazon and your paragraphs do not appear to be "justified". Does your template allow for justifying paragraphs?

I ask because I feel justified paragraphs in a book is one of the nuances of a book presentation that impresses the buyer as a book from a "Big House" publisher. Rather than a self published effort. I think it adds to the credibility of the message in the book and of the author. Just my personal opinion as a buyer of tons of books yearly.

2. Your book cover design looks really cool and professionally done. Did you design it yourself on Open Source or did you outsource the book cover design?

Thanks Alan.

Alan,

Before I purchase, I just have one question. Can I use your template to create books for my clients? I wouldn't be passing on the actual template, just the resulting book.

I want to make sure that is allowed under your terms before I buy.

Thanks,
Tina

Hi Rob,

Awesome! Love to hear that you'll be saving you some time and frustration.

1. My first couple books the paragraphs were not justified (I didn't know better) but I have now since adopted the traditional publishing formatting so the template does have the proper paragraph margin indentations.

2. I did the cover myself using CreateSpace's book cover wizard. It's a snap with that bad boy. I just grabbed one of their templates. Changed the background color and uploaded my own graphic.

Thanks,
Alan

I've been avoiding using Amazon.com self publishing option for myself and for clients because their system is so frustrating. Up until now I've just been using LuLu.com (which I still do like) Thank you for sharing this, it will make things easier for those that really want to use Amazon's service.

Music to my ears Mark. I know a lot of Warriors are doing or trying to get into self publishing on Amazon and the book formatting can be a stick in the mud for people. I want this template to get them going even quicker. Thanks!

Hi, Alan. This WSO is a Godsend. I was just wondering if something like this was available. I just purchased. Thank you so much.

One question (and I've not looked at the materials I downloaded yet) but I noticed in the Youtube video here that your pages are not mirrored so that the headers/footers and page numbers will appear on the "left" of each page. That means some page numbers will be in the wrong place when the book is bound. Has that been corrected?

But I must say again, thank you! It's a dream come true to forego formatting and simply cut-and-paste content into placeholders instead.

Hi Ina,

Thanks for the awesome feedback!

In regards to the page numbers. I set the page layout for "Right and left" so even though the pages numbers might not look correct on the template once the book is printed the pages will be correct. I double checked just in case and the page numbers are correct in the actual printed book.

There is also an option to select "Mirrored" for your page layout but when I was figuring out the formatting I went with "Right and left" and the page numbers are all on the right place and in the right order.

Alan,

How many books have you been selling (per month) on Amazon and do you need to promote them regularly or does the traffic from Amazon suffice? And do you see steady sales or do you need to keep writing new books to keep at the same sales levels every month.

I'm interested but I'm just not sure if you can really sell enough books on Amazon unless you are a big time publisher.

Thanks,

TedK

Hi Ted,

There are a few WSO's that go into details on how to make money publishing books on Amazon and even creating book sites to flip. So there are few ways to tackling this.

I have 5 books so far. Only one has been a dud the others are all selling. It's been only a couple months so it's hard to say but sales have remained consistent.

You're not really competing with the big publishing houses. It's the same concept of niche marketing but just with a book vs. a review site, etc.

The more books you have, the more money you're going to make. Unless you tap a real good market one book won't cut it. That's why these templates are so handy. It speeds up the process of getting your book published.

The domain name book I have screenshots of above sold around 15 copies in 3 weeks last month. No other promotion. Only from Amazon. I haven't lifted a finger since I published it. I don't recommend not doing anything else since the more you promote it the better it will sell.

OK... I just bought. I had some articles created awhile back to format into a book just for Amazon but I thought was too much of a hassle to put together.

Now is the chance to finally get the book done and get it published!

Thanks for this great template...

Thanks for the awesome feedback Warriors! I'm glad you're finding the template useful.

Good point on being an e-book writer. As I mentioned in the OP, I thought it would be easy to format my book for publishing since I was already an e-book publisher but it's a different formatting between the two. This template will take care of it for you.

So if you have an e-book published you can easily turn it into a published offline book and add another income stream.

The cover art has to be submitted to CreateSpace as a separate PDF. I just use the CreateSpace cover wizard. They also provide you a template for covers for free.

Images within the book is very easy with these templates. Whether you use Word or Open Office you just need to click go to Insert | Picture then browse to it on your computer and it will be inserted into your document.

I only print in black and white since color printing gets too expensive but the images turn out just fine. I haven't had any complaints. To ensure quality isn't loss during printing, I suggest using JPEG's. The higher the quality the better.

Hi Alan -

In the "Table of Contents" section, it has gray shade. Is this just for formatting and won't be printed with the book?

I tried to edit the book size to 5.25" x 8" but only the very first page of the template seems to work. How do I edit the book size for all the pages at one time, instead of editing one page at a time? Please help.

Hi Kim,

I replied to your PM but in case others have the same questions, I will also reply below...

That is correct. It's the formatting for the TOC to be created automatically vs. doing it manually but the gray will not be visible once printed.

If you do a "select all" then you can update the page size for all pages. Because of the different formatting on the book title page and the TOC page you might have to do those 2 separately. So worse case scenario you might have to change the page size 2-3 times but not for every page.

How difficult would it be to change the template to different size formats?

Thanks,

Neal

If you go to Format | Page you can adjust the width and height from there so it's pretty simple.

At 5k words, 12-font, your ebook must be under 20 pages. The formatting for a physical book sold on Amazon is different from traditional ebooks so your ebook would be longer but still under 50 pages which is too short. So in your case you don't need this template. It's not for ebooks.

Thanks,

Alan

Alan,

Really nice product at a nice price!

This is exactly what I needed. Very simple!

Thanks!

Q. Do you design your covers with the CreateSpace online software, or upload "camera ready graphic" (or whatever you properly call that)?

By the way, I started using your MS Word version, but then realized that I would need to use a separate program to convert it to PDF.

So I switched to the Open Office version, which converts it to PDF anytime you want within the same program.

Thought that might save someone some extra work, and Open Office is, of course, free.

Alan: This is a gift at this price! Thanks so much for this. What an incredible time-saver you have offered. (I think I downloaded it twice - I couldn't find it in my downloads folder first time around. But it's there, all two copies.)

Thanks again for this great product!

Hi Terry,

Sorry for the late response. I thought I had "subscribed" to my own WSO thread so I would get notified of new posts but I didn't.

I use the CreateSpace online software for all my covers but I do use my own graphic which I get at istock photo than I just uploaded to CreateSpace.

Yes, books do sell on Amazon even without a lot of marketing.

My first print book was done through Lulu. I have not updated it in 6 years. I do nothing to promote it other than the outdated web site on the same topic (barely touched in 3 years). A couple of years ago Lulu added this book to Amazon for me. I have done nothing to fancy it up in any way. It is number 48 in its niche and I still sell books every single month. Now, imagine if I put any work into it at all or updated it.

Hi Alan

You have just given me my weekend back. I already have 2 books published on Createspace. This weekend was set aside to prepare and upload my third book. With your template I managed the whole process in 4 hours - and I was watching cricket at the same time on TV. - This includes all aspects including the text, cover and marketing sections.

You template is disarmingly simple but does exactly what you promise.

Thnakyou again

Hi there,

No this WSO is for templates you can use to get your book published but it's not a "how to" course.

I'm going to be doing a workshop in January 2011 where I'm going to show how to get your book published so stay tuned for that.

Awesome! Let me know if you have questions. Check out the Amazon publisher's group I started. It's rather newish but going to focus more on it in 2011.
