Good question. I know that people from outside the U.S. can be workers, so I'd be surprised if those outside the U.S. couldn't also request work to be done.

Having used MTurk, I think this really is an excellent report for anyone wanting to get started using it. What would make it really killer is if you also included information on how to create 'quizzes' to screen workers before they can work on your HITs - this is something I'd like to know how to do myself. When you open up the flood gates and allow the entire world to work on your project, you can spend a surprising amount of timing sifting through the results, only to reject many of them. This is especially true for writing projects where non-native English speakers are submitting HITs.

Hey, a guy has to get some sleep.................I was up very late making sure everything was going well with the downloads etc.......


As far as I can tell, Amazon doesn't care about where you are, just your money.

You need a U.S. ACH-enabled bank account or you can work with proceeds you earn from work performed on other peoples HIT's.

Working on other peoples HIT's for money is not an ideal leverage situation...but at least if you don't have access to a ACH-enabled bank account, you could earn enough to test it out until you could get one.

You can get more specific information at the website and from Amazon support.

There are a couple of other new sites like the mechanical turk online also.

Of course, I think the information is valuable even if you can't get requester status.

Maybe soon the will be some other site choices as good as the mturk.............

Wrong! MTurk is only available to US. I and others from outside the US have tried in vain. When you try to register, US is hardcoded, and they tell you that it's only for the US at the moment.

I was able to register a requester account, but when trying to edit my bank account data I wasn't able to select my country: USA was preselected and can't be changed.

Also, maybe you can ask someone at RentACoder or a similar place to submit your project to MTurk for you. However, not sure that's allowed.

What can I say about that?

Guilty as charged!

I did have this WSO offer up multiple times between $1 and $5 before using it as “bait” for my membership site.

Just for information, Amazon's Turk service is only available to people in US. I just now tried to create an account and got to know this. Please don't confuse, amazon is open to all but it's TURK service is limited to USA.
