Hi, Just purchased your package and I must say that I don't think that it's practical. If you run one or two blogs, sure, but if you run over 150 like I do, it's totally impractical.

What would be practical is a plugin that would make the modifications you mention automatically and then you remove the plugin. If one ever needs to upgrade or bring things back to stock, the plugin would be re-installed and knows the changes to bring things back to stock install, permitting maximum flexibility. Sorta like having a lock on the door that can be locked and unlocked with a 'key'.

I will disect what you offer and hopefully be able to formulate a plan to use the info in a different matter that allows proper upgrading, and the such.

Just my ramblings. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the purchase..

Actually it is very pratical, I have customers that have 50 and 60 blogs.. What they did was take one and impliment the security, made a backup and updated their other blogs with the changes that have already been made.

Does it require a little work ? well sure it does but securing your websites should be one of the most important thing on your business plan. Wordpress will not protect your business, you must do this yourself.

With that being said.. I will release version 2 of WordPress Secured soon which will have a pre-config wordpress blog that will do the automation of the security for you upon install. I have re-written wordpress install to handle automation of security.

version 2 will be offered at a huge discount to version 1 customers only.. v2 will also include BadBot-Killer 3.0 which includes teh additional of tracking visitors, blocking entire countries, and blocking ip's.

There is a great deal more to v2 ....

To me any process that is manual is bad. Automation is the name of the day. I currently have automated, under cpanel, installation of domain names, base wordpress install, cloning of settings, updates and I'm currently working on distribution of articles and videos.

Once I have the whole thing wrapped up, I intend to move the scale up a notch to several 1,000's of blogs.

So I will be waiting in anticipation to see your new version.

I agree on the securing. I actually was thinking about it and it would be great to create a 'plugin' that would auto run after installation and do the following:
1. Check to see if things have been secured and if it has, it just uninstalls itself or removes the components to undo the security settings.
2. If no security has been invoked, then perform the changes necessary. I believe that one could make good use of .htaccess files., but maybe I'm wrong.
3. Email a completion report.
4. Defang itself so a potential hacker cannot use the plugin to undo.
5. Upon updates, install a hook that would automatically call the plugin, install it and undo the security changes, so the update can occur. After, redo the security.

Seems a roundabout way to do it, and maybe becoming one's own source for updates would be better. That way, one could pre-config the installs with the changes.

Yes version 2 will be based off 2.6.5 which only has 5 files that changed from 2.6.3... Need to do some re-writing and such but not a problem ...

Just download the attached file it contains the 5 files that was changed by wordpress on the update from 2.6.3 to 2.6.5.

The only file you need to edit for your unique names is xmlrpc.php - there is only one line in the file that need edited. The other 4 files can be uploaded as is...

The pre-config version when I release it just install it and transfer your database. I have full instructions on the pre-config which will take about 10 minutes to install a full secured blog.

Not sure I understand your question but let me explain here..

Each of these updates take several weeks to do and especially with v2 since it has a pre-config install that can be done in less than 10 minutes. Crawling through wordpress code and building an entire site, images, documentation, paying my staff and etc takes time and money. Obviously for this reason I can not offer free updates.

As promised though I have given v1 customers a huge discount considering the value of v2 is closer to $97 because it does include pre-config wordpress install, updated badbot killer to v3, pre-config plugins and 1 commercial plugin for free...

I do have a pre-configured WordPress Secured running wordpress 2.7 on my server now. I am still working on some things on it though.

Hi Jason,
Just follow the below steps.

* Disable the plugin first
* Click on the auto update link
* Click on Edit after update - Check to make sure the plugin path is correct, in otherwords make sure it is using your plugin folder name and not the default "plugins"
* Once edited (if needed) then you can activate the plugin again

WARNING : Do not update Add-To-Any plugin, the original coder has errors in his code. I edited the coding and fixed those errors for WPS v2 and if you update the plugin will revert to it's old broken code.

Not sure I may create a new video for 2.7... I know I updated 2.6.5 to 2.7 using wordpress secured in less than 10 minutes but ofcourse I also do this for a living..lol - Will let you know when I come to that cross roads..

The plugin, look in the WPS_Blog folder and open the content folder and plugins folder you will see a plugin called - add-to-any - This plugin has image path issues in which I fixed but I noticed an update is out for it. When I updated it broke the images again. So it is best not to update the plugin, if you are using it .. until the developer fixes his issues with images..

Thanks for your purchase.. WordPress Secured was based on 2.6.5 as it was released before 2.7 came out. I will be releasing an update based off 2.7 and all customers that purchased v2 will get the update for free.

I currently do have 2 blogs installed using 2.7 and both are secured but there are a few things that I am still working through on it. I want to make sure that everything is automative as possible, thus the reason v2 included a pre-config version. The new release will also include a pre-config version but since wordpress has modified the code so much it will take some time to get it proper with security.

Once done I will email all WordPress Secured v2 customers to download the update...
