I had a break-even week on Flippa. You NEVER have any idea what sites will sell and which ones don't. I had a guitar site which got ZERO attention a couple of weeks ago. Not a single bid. I relisted it a few days ago. Suddenly there are quite a few bids and then someone clicks Buy it Now. Makes you wonder how that works.

Start a Mailing List:
I have had previous buyers come back to me with tips and tricks on how to monetize the sites. Problem is, I have sold so many sites that it's hard to communicate with every other buyer. So I have come to the point that I can actually create my first mailing list! So I am going to create an Aweber account and then go back to each of my buyers (one-by-one) and send them an invitation to join the list. This is another reason to not be discouraged to when you sell a site for $40. Getting someone on your mailing list will make up for that in the future.

Adsense:
Google is starting to screw with some of my buyers. They WILL find that ONE video on your site that has "inappropriate material". Because of that, I am working with one of my buyers to test other ad networks. He has purchased about 8 sites from me so I think we will be trying different networks on each site. It will make for an interesting blog post in a couple of months.

Amazon Astore:
My good friend Motley showed me that you can create an Amazon Astore easily using the custom pages feature. My question to fellow Warriors is the following: does anyone know a way to transfer Astore settings from one affiliate account to another? Otherwise, the buyer would have to create the Astore themseleves and I would have to create a PDF and or video to show them how to do it.

Amazon Affiliate Site:
Motley and I also discussed adding an affiliate store as a sub-domain to the main video site. So you could use WPRobot or some other software to create the store. That would be a HUGE value add!

TGforever, that is the ONE thing I forgot to mention when I wrote my list of tips. You should always have a few sites that you hold onto to do exactly what you said. I hold about 4 or 5 and let them run for two months. There will come a point where traffic will spike and the numbers will get huge. And hopefully there will be some Adsense clicks. Then you can flip for a lot higher later.

Check out what I learned TODAY! I had to relist a car restoration site that I created back on April 22. It is only 20 days old. I noticed that it had 2 backlinks when I was looking at the stats in Flippa. I have no idea where they came from because I didn't do it. Then I looked at the PR. It was already at PR1!

So I am thinking that if I create sites, hold 4 to 5 of them, do some light backlinking, then I can promote them at PR1 or PR2 in a couple of months.

The seller Motley has sold a few sites that were PR2 after only 2 or 3 months. But (if I'm correct), you can't get that page rank without doing some backlinking. So that is my new goal. Backlinking and page rank.

I will be using Robosoft for backlinking. Are any of you familiar with the "jigsaw puzzle" backlinking method? It has always worked for me.

1. Oolin - Home what happened? The site is totally broke? No links work for me at all and it shows 10 users online??

...is not allowed. I created this post to follow up on a previous post and to clear some things out, not to become a bat of either side. The post stays here!

CONCLUSIONS AFTER HAVING A SET OF SITES RUNNING FOR SOME MONTHS

After having the new version of the PrismoTube script (V3.13) up and running since March 2012 I can conclude the following:

* none of my sites (seven sites) ever got de-indexed, on the contrary (see next bullet)
* the sites got loads of pages into index and this is still the case, of 7 sites 4 of them have approx 130 K pages in index, the other mostly around 90 K pages in index (most of them are small niche sites).
* the resource hog problems are vanished, I never got any warning from HostGator this time, like I did with PT 2.x
* the Inode allocation is moderate *IF* the recommendation in the KB is applied
* the SEO stuff needs to improve, the standard installation causes errors for duplicate titles (which is caused by the way the title tag is built, there is a very simple solution to that) + header tags are not optimal
* the built in search should be restricted to the "boundaries" set by the category/site keywords, this is also related to relevancy (SEO)
* the support is great

PROBLEMS

BUT... and this one is a biggie! (and it happened before the Panda update)

I wanted to test this software like I would with any other legit software, having a belief that it was not breaching any Google rules and that it therefor safely could be registered in Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics. In the old days (several years ago) when I was almost scared of Google, I used Piwik for analytics instead. Piwik is really good, but in this case with testing PT I didn't fear Google because I wanted to test the software like any other legit software. That was a big mistake!

After a month or so all my sites got a message in Google webmaster tools that they didn't supply any unique content, which of course is true in one sense, it just embeds videos from Youtube, but unique content in other cases is something that is related to a whole page or site, not just parts of a page. There are numerous sites with Wordspress plugins that just pull in Youtube videos and they don't get penalties, so why were my sites penalized? I believe that Google doesn't like this script. It's too good in a sense.

Another question rose in my mind: why is it that e.g. e-commerce companies that imports sh*tloads of product feeds that all other ecommerce companies also import and therefor never have any unique content, never get any such messages? Both you and I know why! Google loves their money. If Google penalized those sites they would go down the drain and Google would lose revenue.
Oh, how "ethical" Google handle it...

* after being penalized for lack of unique content my sites' rankings dropped to positions where no one ever looked at
* after a while the sites partially regained bits of their positions in the SERP, but not to where they started before being penalized

Maybe (?) this penalty could be avoided if the PrismoTube script also included videos from other video sites.

CAN YOU AVOID THE PROBLEMS? (I CAN'T CONFIRM THAT)

I got an advice from the support on how to avoid these problems, but the way I see it this kind of technique should never have to be applied if the software itself is ok in the eyes of Google, unless Google penalizes the sites for whatever reason.

SUMMARY

So in all.
* you might get penalized by Google based on some obscure reason that they apply with no clear rule what so ever
* According to Alurian/Prismotube you can avoid the penalty. I never did that, this was just a test.
* The sites were NEVER deindexed, but they ARE penalized. The rankings do improve a bit after a while, but the old days' rankings seem never to come back.

You have created a great thread with people adding value to it. Thanks for your above posts Joel and Magnus. Flippa is getting too congested and as Joel and you say it is now time to think outside the box and look at other ways of reaching out to clients. I would be grateful Roy for some clarification:

1) Google analytics - Do we still create a Google Analytics code for our website, paste the code on our site and submit the sitemap for the domain? Then add the banners after the site is indexed?

2) Roy, since your a cool guy, any chance of adding some more free standard templates like sunnyday in our Admin panel? That would help out your loyal fan base.

3) I'm not even thinking of putting Google adsense on any sites. Can you please recommend any other companies that can get me $5 per day as I plan to concentrate on earning revenue from sites. Any companies or campaigns that compliment Prismotube sites would be great.

Stay out of Google tools! Do NOT use Google Analytics! Install Piwik instead and add a Piwik code to your sites instead. Do not use Google Webmaster Tools.

Do you have to add text to the posts, or how do you get AdSense to post ads? Videos wouldn't be much good without some text and if this creates thousands of pages, that would be a monumental task to add text. Am I missing something?

Obviously with no or little unique content, you will get penalized. So I think you answered my previous question. Maybe I should have rea the thread before I asked it. Like I had time.

I would be interested in how I would avoid this error/penalty? Way too much money for me to spend only to get penalized.

Very nice thread! I am very interested! Can we add links to the navigation that go to unique content pages of the same site (not the video pages)?

I would want to have at least 10-20 pages of unique content (to keep the Panda away). Also, I would want the content to be placed on the same-style template as used for the videos. Can that be done as well?

Hey Magnus and Joel. Thanks for the Big G warning but does that apply to sitemaps? I thought that submitting the sitemap to Big G benefited us in terms of organic traffic. I can understand avoiding the other Big G tools but thought this one was alright. Please advise on what we should be using instead Big G to submit the sitemap. I'm worried as the traffic would fall if we used something else.

Good advise, thanks. I used it and already sold my first DreamHost subscription. One disadvantage of the DreamHost is their control panel. It doesn't look like cPanel and the website transfer is more complicated for me without experience in managing this type of control panel.

I had a buyer drop negative feedback on me after they failed to complete the deal because of the $25 license transfer. The auction ended 3 months ago and they just got around to leaving feedback today. Here is what they wrote:

"Seller had no licenses for software used, so didn't go ahead with sale. What amazed me was Flippa seemed okay with pirated software being so"

So after I wrote them back and asked them why they wrote that, here was the reply:
"I got an email recently from Flippa asking for a 30sec survey and filled it in. If your main income involved selling something you've no right to sell, that's really not my problem."

So anyway, I have sent a message to Flippa asking them to review that feedback to hopefully get it removed because this buyer clearly has an attitude with me. Here is what I wrote back to him:

"I am sorry you feel that way. I do have a right to sell it. Do you not remember everything I sent to you as proof? I certainly understand that you were concerned about me having full control over the license but I would have gladly paid the $25 to transfer it to you if I knew this would happen.

But you wrote on my feedback that the script is pirated and that is what I'm concerned about. Well, I apologize for your negative experience with me. I certainly wish things could have worked out better. I like to make everyone happy but I did not succeed this time. So for that, I am truly sorry. And I do thank you for responding and wish you well in the future.

I think I am leaning more towards flipping the sites, therefore feel that purchasing the unlimited license would be of greatest benefit to me.

If I buy the $187 unlimited license and build a number of PTsites, then how much is it to sell the individual license for each of the domains (PTsites) to the buyer? I keep seeing $25 mentioned. Is that correct? If so, I feel I could make a nice profit. And just to be certain, even though I would have the unlimited license, the code I would be transferring to the buyer would be just for a single license, correct?

If you could please answer those two questions, then that would be great!

1. Why are so many of the sites that are posted in this thread or in old Flippa auctions now offline? Did they get penalized or something?

2. Is Google (Adsense) kind to any niche? Seems like they have a trend of disabling the ads on these sites. Many of the Prismotube sites I've visited have the Google Ads in the background but they're unclickable. Why do so many site owners leave the banned ads up there?

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

I don't know. I have never seen the site maps as any risk what so ever. Site maps will just help the Google bot to find your pages. My personal GUESS would be that it is safe to use it.

It seems that the main focus is on flipping.

But what if you don't want to flip? Is there any value in building your own sites? With the google changes, I imagine that tube sites don't get much traffic anymore? Are any of the customers in this thread making money not by flipping?

Hey Fanaticodp, I would not recommend Adsense on these sites as stated in previous posts by Roy. It's a wonderful feeling making these sites but I need the experts in here to recommend the best ways to monetize and earn a reasonable amount by retaining them.

Roy has done a good job at optimizing the way the ad blocks are presented to surfers, however, I need conversions. Any ideas?

I flip them only in a few days or max. a few weeks after creation, so I don't have possibility to monetize them myself. Let's Joe answer this question.

But I believe there is a guy who can answer your question better than others. It's Roy. He has long running PT websites and make some money from them, let's address this question to him.

Ive put amazon widgets on my prismosite. I need to fix my keywords but the site is getting few hits, even with weird keyword errors, errors on my part not the script. Anyways I'll let you guys know if monetizing with amazon works or not.

Anyone having problems with the prismosites uploading more videos? Ive set up about 1k keywords and ive only got 15 videos on my site and more are not being added, is this normal? Cause if so then its not really worth it.

I have another question that is very important for when it comes to selling PT sites. Can I be guaranteed that if I have the unlimited license plan and sell a site to someone, then I will be able to/or support will create a single domain license for that buyer within 24-48 hours of the sale?

If this cannot be done, that would make things rather complicated. I want any buyer of mine to have the license in his/her name ASAP.

If would really appreciate a clear answer on this before I make a purchase.

Flippa never bans a seller for a particular type of website he or she sells, but Flippa will suspend or ban anyone for any kind of fraud or TOC violation. Be honest with your buyers and follow guidelines and nothing bad will happen to you.

Can you please provide details of how to transfer a whole website from one host to another ( back up, transfer of all files and databases). We would be grateful.

That's nearly 2 weeks ago!

I have a few problems.
Being old doesn't help.
Being stupid makes it worse.
And spending $200 on the whole bleedin package wasn't too clever either... but that's what I did a month ago.
Been struggling ever since,
Would post some screen shots but lost access when I changed the url on that 1st admin page.
Now I can't get back there to fix it.
Submitted ticket yesterday... Instant reply!
Auto responder obviously.
Cos I keep checkin "support" and there's no one home there either!!!
Any suggestions anybody?

If royh and others on this thread who have the unlimited license can answer post #1272, then I would feel much better. I need to know I can spawn individual licenses from the unlimited domain license whenever necessary -- even if there is nobody in support to help me with that. This will be a major factor in helping me decide if I should purchase.

There has to be somebody here with experience...

I will start using their affiliate program instead. I had a break-even week on Flippa. You NEVER have any idea what sites will sell and which ones don't. I had a guitar site which got ZERO attention a couple of weeks ago. Not a single bid. I relisted it a few days ago. Suddenly there are quite a few bids and then someone clicks Buy it Now. Makes you wonder how that works. Start a Mailing List: I have had previous buyers come back to me with tips and tricks on how to monetize the sites. Problem is, I have sold so many sites that it's hard to communicate with every other buyer. So I have come to the point that I can actually create my first mailing list! So I am going to create an Aweber account and then go back to each of my buyers (one-by-one) and send them an invitation to join the list. This is another reason to not be discouraged to when you sell a site for $40. Getting someone on your mailing list will make up for that in the future. Adsense: Google is starting to screw with some of my buyers. They WILL find that ONE video on your site that has "inappropriate material". Because of that, I am working with one of my buyers to test other ad networks. He has purchased about 8 sites from me so I think we will be trying different networks on each site. It will make for an interesting blog post in a couple of months. Amazon Astore: My good friend Motley showed me that you can create an Amazon Astore easily using the custom pages feature. My question to fellow Warriors is the following: does anyone know a way to transfer Astore settings from one affiliate account to another? Otherwise, the buyer would have to create the Astore themseleves and I would have to create a PDF and or video to show them how to do it. Amazon Affiliate Site: Motley and I also discussed adding an affiliate store as a sub-domain to the main video site. So you could use WPRobot or some other software to create the store. That would be a HUGE value add! That's all I have for now!

CONCLUSIONS AFTER HAVING A SET OF SITES RUNNING FOR SOME MONTHS After having the new version of the PrismoTube script (V3.13) up and running since March 2012 I can conclude the following: * none of my sites (seven sites) ever got de-indexed, on the contrary (see next bullet) * the sites got loads of pages into index and this is still the case, of 7 sites 4 of them have approx 130 K pages in index, the other mostly around 90 K pages in index (most of them are small niche sites). * the resource hog problems are vanished, I never got any warning from HostGator this time, like I did with PT 2.x * the Inode allocation is moderate IF the recommendation in the KB is applied * the SEO stuff needs to improve, the standard installation causes errors for duplicate titles (which is caused by the way the title tag is built, there is a very simple solution to that) + header tags are not optimal * the built in search should be restricted to the "boundaries" set by the category/site keywords, this is also related to relevancy (SEO) * the support is great PROBLEMS BUT... and this one is a biggie! (and it happened before the Panda update) I wanted to test this software like I would with any other legit software, having a belief that it was not breaching any Google rules and that it therefor safely could be registered in Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics. In the old days (several years ago) when I was almost scared of Google, I used Piwik for analytics instead. Piwik is really good, but in this case with testing PT I didn't fear Google because I wanted to test the software like any other legit software. That was a big mistake! After a month or so all my sites got a message in Google webmaster tools that they didn't supply any unique content, which of course is true in one sense, it just embeds videos from Youtube, but unique content in other cases is something that is related to a whole page or site, not just parts of a page. There are numerous sites with Wordspress plugins that just pull in Youtube videos and they don't get penalties, so why were my sites penalized? I believe that Google doesn't like this script. It's too good in a sense. Another question rose in my mind: why is it that e.g. e-commerce companies that imports shtloads of product feeds that all other ecommerce companies also import and therefor never have any unique content, never get any such messages? Both you and I know why! Google loves their money. If Google penalized those sites they would go down the drain and Google would lose revenue. Oh, how "ethical" Google handle it... after being penalized for lack of unique content my sites' rankings dropped to positions where no one ever looked at * after a while the sites partially regained bits of their positions in the SERP, but not to where they started before being penalized Maybe (?) this penalty could be avoided if the PrismoTube script also included videos from other video sites. CAN YOU AVOID THE PROBLEMS? (I CAN'T CONFIRM THAT) I got an advice from the support on how to avoid these problems, but the way I see it this kind of technique should never have to be applied if the software itself is ok in the eyes of Google, unless Google penalizes the sites for whatever reason. SUMMARY So in all. * you might get penalized by Google based on some obscure reason that they apply with no clear rule what so ever * According to Alurian/Prismotube you can avoid the penalty. I never did that, this was just a test. * The sites were NEVER deindexed, but they ARE penalized. The rankings do improve a bit after a while, but the old days' rankings seem never to come back. The auction ended 3 months ago and they just got around to leaving feedback today. Here is what they wrote: "Seller had no licenses for software used, so didn't go ahead with sale. What amazed me was Flippa seemed okay with pirated software being so" So after I wrote them back and asked them why they wrote that, here was the reply: "I got an email recently from Flippa asking for a 30sec survey and filled it in. If your main income involved selling something you've no right to sell, that's really not my problem." So anyway, I have sent a message to Flippa asking them to review that feedback to hopefully get it removed because this buyer clearly has an attitude with me. Here is what I wrote back to him: "I am sorry you feel that way. I do have a right to sell it. Do you not remember everything I sent to you as proof? I certainly understand that you were concerned about me having full control over the license but I would have gladly paid the $25 to transfer it to you if I knew this would happen. But you wrote on my feedback that the script is pirated and that is what I'm concerned about. Well, I apologize for your negative experience with me. I certainly wish things could have worked out better. I like to make everyone happy but I did not succeed this time. So for that, I am truly sorry. Me too... Post 1229 (not mine) she refers to was 11th May. That's nearly 2 weeks ago! I have a few problems. Being old doesn't help. Being stupid makes it worse. And spending $200 on the whole bleedin package wasn't too clever either... but that's what I did a month ago. Been struggling ever since, Would post some screen shots but lost access when I changed the url on that 1st admin page. Now I can't get back there to fix it. Submitted ticket yesterday... Instant reply! Auto responder obviously. Cos I keep checkin "support" and there's no one home there either!!! Any suggestions anybody?

I need to know I can spawn individual licenses from the unlimited domain license whenever necessary -- even if there is nobody in support to help me with that. This will be a major factor in helping me decide if I should purchase. There has to be somebody here with experience...
