No, it is perfectly moral, ethical and is not black-hat – but it might be considered close to the fence.


8. What types of sites does it work on?

This technique can only be used with content based sites such as blogs or information sites. In fact, it works best with blogs. It won’t work for sales pages, corporate sites or forced opt-in pages.

Here’s how I use it: I drive traffic to relevant, informative content on a blog where I collect opt-ins, advertise my products, promote affiliate products, use AdSense and so on to convert the visitors into CASH.


9. How much money could I expect to make with this technique?

I can’t really answer that for you – it depends what you do with the traffic. Here are a few scenarios though for your consideration.

A) If you place AdSense ads on your site, 10% of your 7,500 monthly visitors click on them and you make an average of $0.35 per click, you’d make $262.50 per month (7,500 x 0.10 x $0.35). If you can get 25% of your visitors to click on your ads, you’d earn $656.25.

B) If you place an affiliate banner or ad on your site, 2% of your visitors click on it and 4% of the visitors who click on it buy the product with a $50 commission, you’d make $375 per month (7,500 x 0.02 x 0.05 x $50).

C) If you know your numbers like the back of your hand, you might know that each subscriber on your list is worth $1 to you on average per month. Therefore, over 12 months, each subscriber is worth $12.

If you’re getting 7,500 unique visitors per month and you convert just 5% of those visitors into opt-in subscribers, you’d get 375 new opt-in subscribers in any given month. Since each subscriber is worth $12 over one year, you’d stand to make $4,500 (375 x $12) over the course of a year from one month’s worth of using this technique.

If you used this technique for a full 12 months, you could make a total of $54,000 in one year.

Or if you converted 15% of your visitors into opt-in subscribers, they’d be worth $162,000 over 12 months.


10. Are these numbers accurate? Will they work for you? Will you make that much? Who knows?

You do. If you know your conversions and statistics down cold, simply plug in your own numbers and get your own answers.

I have a content site (about 30 pages with articles, videos, supporting documentation, etc.) but my index page is more or less a sales letter. All the other pages are supporting information.

Hi David, the page of your website that you want to send traffic to needs to be content and information based and have links to other content… but can also include links to a sales page - I primarily use this technique with content based niche blogs.

If the page you want to send the traffic to is a sales page, then it wouldn't work, but if you wanted to send people to an informative article, then link to a sales page from there, that would be ok.
