Well first of my name is Tanner not Tim, but no worries on that. now as to your questions:

Residual Income Formula will teach you how to launch any type of membership you can think of in any niche you can find. It is a complete A to Z course.

As to the payment plan - At $197 which is 80% off the launch price, we don't feel a payment plan is necessary. If however $197 is to much at one time for you to afford, we can work out a payment arrangment.

And just in case you weren't sure RIF is a complete course that is delivered to you all at once after purchase, its not set up like a membership site, because it is not a membership site.

the letter it looks as if it's more designed towards newbies (we are
too, but we teach newbie AND expert stuff) - but I can't say for sure
as I haven't purchased.

The membership site script is designed to work with almost any payment processor, but the script itself is not a payment processor. Just like other membership site scripts.

The cms is very easy to use, however it does depend on the type of membership site you decide to build as to how complex it gets.

Initially I was considering Ryan Deiss's "Continuity Blueprint" package because he claimed that there was no need for anyone to be an expert, however this was way too expensive so I looked around and found RIF. Unfortunately there isn't much advice on getting others to provide content, which means that I still have to do most of the development myself but it is the very lack of credibility or interest in many fields that has always stopped me so far.

Consequently I still don't see how I can use this approach to build more than one site (on Chess) and even that would be a major challenge because I am clearly not that good! In general I would somehow need to persuade genuine experts to make on-going contributions to whatever membership site I choose to create as a publisher.

I could of course pay for contributions but that implies a significant investment and a high degree of confidence that the project will actually work. As I have never sold anything significant in my life before that would also be a challenge.

No doubt there are some 'gung-ho' entrepreneurs around who would take all that in their stride but I am not one of them. It has occurred to me that I could create a site about being a successful entrepreneur - including the emotional and networking/support aspects - but yet again that requires people who have actually 'walked the talk' to provide the content.

So where do I go from here?

Have you gotten to Manual 3 yet?

Pages 5-30 are all about how to hire experts as the face of
your site (some of them do it for free - you can read about
that in the Manual, how to outsource inexpensively if you'd
rather go that route, etc.)

As far as chess, I actually have a site in that niche and have
never played a game of chess in my life. I can tell you from experience
that people in that niche are VERY responsive and eager to help.

Also, remember the membership formats from Manual 1 - you can
start a membership site with a week's worth of content if you wanted
to test it out before putting too much time or energy into it.

I hope that helps, but if it doesn't... I'm going to be out of town
until Monday. You can feel free to either PM me and I'll get back to
you as soon as I get back, or PM Tanner (this thread doesn't seem
to be loading for him but he'll be able to answer you quicker).
