Google Adwords Keyword tool Data is giving not the exact search count from Google.com website. The search count includes all their search network partners. This maybe not you wanted.

This will tell you exactly the search count in daily, weekly, or monthly basis in Google.com only.

For your adword campaign, you may need to improve your ads and relevance to increase number of clicks.

However. I can see that it's good to find long tail phrases that have little or no competition, but the one you finish up with as an example would seem to have hardly anyone searching either.

You say: "Write an article using that keyword in your title and in the body of your content,
and you'll be on the top spot easily. Sweet!
No competition at all."

Only one person searched for it so how can this be described as "gold"? I certainly would not make the effort to write an article and go through the steps you describe on the off chance that another individual would search for the same - extremely obscure - thing.

If I'm missing something, please explain.

I completely understand your concern and in fact expecting some people may ask the same question.

I ran my experiment only for a very short time and just to show to the readers how I do it.

The definition of "gold" is completely up to you because even if you get a thousand a day from a certain keyword but it does not convert, it has no value. But if you get just one search and yet it converts, then that's a gold.

What I recommend is for you to ran your own campaign too see for yourself.

That same "taknique" will also tell you which keyword is converting and which is just a waste of bandwidth.
