ok, so i am a subscriber to your backlinks,

and let's say we take the july package as an example,

from our own computers at home, if we each go through the package ourselves, each of us will create our own profiles on the high pr sites and we will all leave an anchor text back to our main site. so in total, we would have 90 backlinks from the july package, since we each completed the package once. on the same high pr site, we would have 3 links from them under different profiles.

so the question is, are we wasting our time? is there more benefit of having the 3 of us go through the same package, or should we just do the package once and get 30 backlinks instead of the 90.

Well, I put two links on each site but I also add a lot of other information about myself as well. To make sure people don't think I'm advocating slamming these sites with spam (which seems to have come up on a lot of threads lately), I'd advise that you create a nice profile and put in the amount of links that seems right for the site. Some sites are "busier" than others and you can add a few more links without creating issues. But I'd advise using your common sense and making your profile look like a real person created it and not slamming a bunch of links to the sites. We want to be good neighbors to these sites.

Thank you for your post. While I DO know about that site, that one was not in my packet. That was in Paul's packet and he sent word out to all of his subscribers not to use the site.

While there's not anything that "reporting" you to the search engines (to or anybody else) will do (although if you KEPT on putting links there, they would probably win a harrassment suit against you), we also don't want to create problems with website owners. If they don't like us putting a link there, we need to remove our links and move on.

If that sort of thing worked to get sites banned, deindexed, sandboxed, or anything else in Google that was harmful then you'd have marketers doing this sort of thing ALL over the internet and where there was once a Search Engine, you'd have mayhem and only the most active, most malicious marketers would have their stuff at the top of the index, regardless of the quality of the site or any other factor that Google pays close attention to. Google brings in $1.5 BILLION dollars a quarter, up from the $1.25 BILLION it was bringing in at this time last year. If Google allowed marketers to sabatoge other marketers' websites by anything they could do manually to "hurt" them, they would be risking a $6 BILLION dollar a year business. Let me ask you: if this were YOUR money at risk, would you allow malicious pranks and underhanded marketing techniques to risk it all for you? Of course you wouldn't. And either would Google.

Yes, they will on sites that require Textile. The sites that require Textile will let you know about it and this is how that particular code is set up. This is very uncommon, but I have run across a few sites that use this particular code.

Well, Rnjonjo, at first I was using the anchor text "Angela from Aberdeen" as a fun thing; folks that I know call me that. I wasn't trying to rank or anything but I soon got the number one spot for that. Then, I looked around at some of the surrounding sites which were....er, let's just call them "scary". Wasn't sure I wanted to be associated with that.

I checked Angela just out of curiosity and I was number 27 or something like that. So I started using that page on all the sites I find for the packets and it wasn't too long before it was in the top 5. A month or so later it was number 3. A short while later, it was number 2 where it has remained for quite a few months. I am not sure just how long it took to get it there, though. I wish I had a better answer for you.

Are you doing anyting else to get Google to pick up the links you left after using Angela's packet? Are you pinging the page of the profile where you put your links or did the links get indexed by themselves? Those 9 links show up when you use Yahoo explorer and do a site:url command correct? So it took about 2 weeks or so for 9 of the 30 or so links to show up and get indexed? Are you using July's or June's packet?

Personally, I have never pinged or Social Bookmarked or done any of that for any of my links, and I see rapid movement every time. I've often seen things go to Page One of Google overnight, or within the first few days. However, there are some folks who do that sort of thing, so I don't think it hurts anything and might help. I know it's not necessary, though, if you don't have the time for it.

For people who think this sort of thing is beneficial, Peter Drew (who is an SEO expert) goes into this sort of thing in great detail in his SEO PDF, specifically designed for these sites (he and I have an SEO WSO going right now that you may have seen). PM me if you'd like more information.

Damn, just going through the July package and about 10 of the links do not allow me to put anchor texts even though I filled out all the profile details.

Try the sites later. My outsourcer tells me that it's very common to have a site not work and then later on, it works.

Some sites will take away the ability to leave links; that's normal. However, I suspect a lot of this could be because of the folks who are stuffing in multiple links (8, 10, 15) per site. I plan to address this in the next packet. This is not a good practice for keeping these sites active for all of us.

than 1003 garbage links.
also to spend a few minutes to post a picture and profile
and a high quality comment will go a long ways

If the site owner cleans up links he may do the spammers
and quickies but not the ones that actually contribute
in a positive way. And you may get some others coming to your
site from your content.

I am a firm believer of quality over quantity.
i would rather have my article on the first page in #1
than 60 articles on the 4922 page just for a back link
i can tell you which one will make you more money.

Thank you, Don. Quite a few people have found that some of these sites are sites they are able to contribute to and get something out of. There's a lot to be said for positive "networking", even in places like this. "Value" is relative, too...maybe we have something to offer to someone who already uses the site as well as trying to add the value on our first visit. I've had emails from folks who saw my links on some of these sites; this has happened several times. People should remember that it's not always JUST about the backlink. Sometimes there are other things we can give as well as take away from these sites.

Your view on articles is exactly the same as my own, too. I'd rather write one really good, informative article and get it to Page One than write a dozen or more articles a day in hopes that one of them MAY make it to Page One and also that I get backlinks from it. That is not a very good use of time, IMO, and the backlinks are often lower in quality.

Well I sat down for the past 2 or 3 hours and made it completely through the list. I did find about 4-5 sites that had caught on and changed whether or not you could get a backlink from them.

On average how long Can i expect my links to stay on some of these type of sites? I'm sure they aren't permanent because webmasters clean up older inactive accounts now and again. From you experience how long should I expect each link to "Last" and how long until I see results. When I wake up tomorrow morning will I begin seeing results already or do I need to wait about a week to start seeing results?

But even if they are on there for 6 months. That'd be great.

I'm trying to be as vague as possible not to give away anything to people that haven't yet subscribed. Yet still ask some questions that I think would interest a lot of people.

It actually kind of depends on when Google sees your links when you will see the movement. But most people see it quickly.

I appreciate you being careful not to give away the sites in the packet.

Well I tried finding myself on google, is there an easier way to locate which page or search result # you are? Unfortunately I'm not in the first 5 pages yet. I got lazy and didn't want to look any further than that. Slightly depressing. Backlinkwatch says I have no backlinks
