Almost 3 years since this WSO launched, is the content still up-to-date? Lots of cool wordpress plugins for membership sites have come up since 2008.

Yes, it's still up to date. I still use many of the same plugins I used in 2008 and the instructions on tweaking themes to do what you want still apply to plugins in 2011 and beyond.
