Update (16/12/2008): In response to someone's question in this thread I've updated Easy Backlinker to work in "edu" mode as well. Search in the following format -

Couple of questions -

- Is the PageRank displayed the rank of the exact page you'll be commenting on, or the site as a whole?
- How is the dofollow determination made? If it's by looking for the nofollow attribute in the code of the page, I've found that more often than not, the absence of that just means that there hasn't been a comment yet, but the links are still nofollow. If your script has a different way of making that determination, that would be awesome!

The Page Rank is the PR for the domain not the exact page but since the pages are ones that rank really well for the search terms in Google you're getting a very similar benefit.

Similarly for the nofollow links. In some cases its just the absence of a comment on the page but because these sites are at the top of Google its not that common to find an uncommented page (although ironically I think at least one of the ones in the demo vid is!).

I've used dofollow blog search engines before but none so fast and so good.

Do the sites change or is this a proper search engine? (will the results change automatically?)

Typing the main keyword for my niche in the search engines has brought up mostly reds but after digging a little the amount of high PR websites that appear is amazing and we all know how gold a PR 7 dofollow link is.

Thanks for the kind words Matt. The sites will be the same on each page of the search in the same way as they are in Google. Ie they will change as links are deemed more relevant but generally stay the same (especially near the top).

These are the types of tasks that I absolutely hate doing but it's a must. We all know how important quality backlinks are for our sites and these type of comments are a great source of free traffic. But the process is so tedious digging around looking for those sites.

I've also outsourced this type of task in the past paying around $20-30 a pop per site. That really adds up since I have a lot eBay niche stores sites and other affilaite websites out there. Plus some of the backlinks I got back on a spreadsheet were crap. This can happen in the following cases -

- The site changes its template
- There were no comments on the page to start with

The first one I'm afraid I can't do much about but the second one is handled by taking pages that Google ranks *very* highly for your search terms. This means they're getting a lot of traffic and increases the chance of them having comments.

Even so Easy Backlinker is scanning the whole page to determine if the site is the kind to only give you nofollow credit, not just the comment section. So even when there aren't comments yet there's a good chance it can find out whether you'll get credit or not.

Its not very likely but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't possible. People change their site templates all the time. If someone changes their site template and the comment become nofollow that will devalue them.

On the whole I've found that a high percentage of blogs/sites that are follow now stay that way.

Software functions cleanly; no problems with login at all.

I have used the software 3 or 4 times now. My issue is: the PR reported by Easy Backlinker is not reflected by Google toolbar.

Is this the PR measure you are using? For example, I just did a search and selected 4 sites which were not 'nofollow', and which had a PR of more than 0 according to the software. (Up to 5, in fact.) On loading up, none of the sites were shown as having PR by G toolbar.

I double checked the sites using SEO Quake in Firefox which shows PR as "n/a".

I think the links are useful anyway: but what happened to the PR?

And you're correct, its the PR of the domain that's reported, not the individual page. But since the pages returned by Easy Backlinker rank really well in Google you're getting a lot of the benefit of that PR.

I've just updated Easy Backlinker to add an "edu" mode for the search.

When you search enter -

site:.edu search terms here

And it'll only find .edu pages to get links from.

Hi Jason,

Easy Backlinker checks the page your backlink will be on to see if there are any nofollow links. Unfortunately this means that sometimes a blog has no comments and is marked as dofollow simply because the nofollow template hasn't shown up yet.

Hope that clears things up. In my experience its not that common for the results returned to not have comments simply because they rank so well and therefore get so much traffic.

but when it comes to getting anchortext backlinks.... don't put too much hope in it...
Some page appears as do-follow but when you post comments, it becomes a no-follow
